Eh, not terrible. I'm waiting to see if they have a new engine though instead of carrying over the old EJ.

Every review I've read of the new WRX and STI has been overwhelmingly positive.
Charlie & his Eurotrolls will throw a hissyfit, but Motor Trend rated it ahead of the CLA45 and M235i as a driver's car. Good job Subaru.

I'd rock the STI.
Still would've preferred it to be closer to the concept, but it is what it is.

Even if the reviews are all wrong, the fact it can hang with significantly more expensive cars is a victory in itself.

The difficulty lies in accepting its exterior styling, and history of lack of interior features and comfort.

Also, compared to the 2 mentioned above, it's likely considerably cheaper. 65k & 50k respectively, optioned up.

it is a WRX and STI, engine and pretty much all performance stuff are all carry over from previous Gen. So, i would expect it to perform about the same as last Gen.
The problem is not with its performance. If you put a Toyota emblem on it, i would assume that is the next Camry.

I don't really see the styling problem. Maybe it's just me, but the STI has always been a derivative of the rather pedestrian Imprezza. The latest generation just looks like more of the same. It's my impression that Subaru kind of shot itself in the foot by unveiling that concept car that everyone pegged as the next WRX/STI and then showing up with a hopped-up Imprezza again.
Regardless of all that, Subaru continues to squeeze amazing performance out of these cars. I think they've effectively left the Mistu Evo in the dust at this point.

STi did not leave Evo in the dust, Mitsu decided to discontinue the Evo and focus on CUV/SUV instead
Evo 9/10 > STi.
I have driven countless Evo and STi during my years in the car industry.
Both cars have similar specs on paper, but Evo was a much better drivers car than STi

Except for the last part. I don't think Mitsubishi has another Evo in the works... at least it doesn't seem like it'll carry over to the next generation.
The problem is using the old EJ engine - can you say, "how much to change the head gaskets?" - in the STI. The WRX gets the new turbo FA20 found in the Forester XT...

Like Mitsu has any CUV/SUV that work well.

A European Ford. And you're so proud of it that you have a German user title, a German car listing, and 2 German products in a gif for your avatar.
Go play with your Euro wagons.
Anyway, some of the Mitsubishi engineers must have defected to the other side, because this latest WRX/STI is supposed to have very good steering, a typical Subaru weakness/Evo strength.

Seriously, quite trying to instigate conflict over nonsense. That's the very definition of an Internet Troll (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=troll).

Yes, you are:
You could have made your entire point without that nonsense. I've seen you do it before and you actually have insightful things to say from time to time. But then you just crap all over that image of being reasonable with things like this. You've singled me out for this crap in the past, now you're doing it to CM. Let it go, man.

At least he's valid about the steering. I dunno about this new WRX/STI but the steering in my BRZ is awesome. Nothing like you'd expect from a Toyota. It's nearly almost as precise as an S2000, but with better feel.
The Evos I've driven felt great. Subarus, not so much.

I just don't like how the Evo MR is automatic only and the GSR is a 5-speed manual.
I do like how the STi has been a 6-speed for quite a while, and now the WRX gets that update. Plus the DCCD on the STi is pretty sweet to have.
Always loved the STi but if I were to hypothetically ever buy the new model I would definitely make it a requirement to modify the exterior.
It looks like Evolutions are really holding their value well. 2011 and up models are staying above 33k, with some even having 20k miles or more.

Jeez, for the 2015 WRX and STi, Subaru now charges $2500 for the navigation, audio, and keyless system package.
Back for the 2012 and 2013 models it was $900 for navigation.

I don't know about that....... If there is any more "feel" to the s2k steering, i might as well put hands on the tires while they are moving.

From the road tests I've seen so far, it looks like the new WRX and STI are much more fun to drive than before. Too bad there will be no more EVO to compare with.

The S2000 goes exactly where I want it to, which is awesome. But the steering is a little light. I normally don't like DBW and EPS, so maybe my bias is showing. Some companies do it right though. I tend to like Miata, 370Z and Evo steering more than the S2000. That's not to say the S2k is bad, not at all. Others are just better.
Again, the S2000 goes where I point it. It just was more vague than I prefer. Or my memory could be off.
