I've seen WRX pull >14.1 w/ 97-98mph trap speed which is a few mph less than what CLSs would run.
You know, when you're at the top 90s low 100s mph trap speed area, even 1 mph makes a big difference. Meaning, 1mph or 2mph more translates into quite some added HP. Plus the WRX I beleve was always underrated as far as its HP was concerned (claimed at 227HP).

Think the biggest problem is they keep trying to dress up the same old car instead of coming out with something fresh. 2nd problem imo is they are abandoing the Legacy styling which is a clean aggressive look compared to this flashy style.

never really liked STi's, purely for the fact that its so much performance for the buck. call me crazy, but whenever i see SRT4s or WRX i just think of some dumbo kid that wants all this performance, but couldnt give two shits about quality or luxury. i hate bang for buck cars b/c it = poor design, shitty interior, basically a nice motor mounted to a peice of metal.

this car would look much better if the grille was flipped, but then they may be looking at a lawsuit from SEAT.

for example, if i had a 525i which would get smoked by a WRX, i still wouldnt care at all.

sure you can have a fast ass STi but i feel that it gets no respect, at least from me, if it were to out perform other cars. i just cant take the thing seriously.

I think this gets the award for one of the most retarded statements of the year.

And goes to show you've never sat in, drive in, or ridden in a STi.

ive been in plenty of WRXs but no Stis. are you meaning to tell me the car is luxurious? i highly doubt that. i understand what kind of car it is and its purpose. im not knockin on those types of cars, im just saying that its just not my cup of tea, thats all....

and thats y i drive a slower, but more luxurious coupe, such as my CL, rather than a damn Subaru. if i have a high degree of performance and speed i would like the design and amentities departments to be on the same level. im just talking about my personal taste here, dont get so worked up about it.

maybe i should of said, "peice of metal" bc the STi could handle like no other. i just want all that nice interior quality, i mean the freaking thing doesnt come with a radio. ... not feeling that bare bones performance-type at all...

05+ STis come with a radio.......they have an adj. differential, intercooler spray, adj. Xenons, EL gauges, full auto A/C, power windows/locks/mirrors, reading lamps, keyless entry, comfortable seats. Auto-dimming rearview mirror is optional, with compass.

What else do you want in the car?

Its not a bare bones car, nor is it a luxury car. What it happens to be is one of the most affordable high performance automobiles you can get.

This is what an STi can do, not a BMW 525i.

Stéphane Sarrazin's circuit racing skills helped Subaru achieve an excellent second in class result on its endurance racing debut at the Nürburgring 24 hour's race, held on 7th and 8th of May.
From the moment the race began, with a rolling start at 1500hrs on Saturday, Stephane and his three Japanese team mates took turns to push their Impreza WRX STi to the limit around the marathon 25km track, stopping only to change tyres, swap drivers and to refuel.

In the face of some treacherous weather conditions, including heavy rain and hailstorms, the specially prepared Impreza ran faultlessly and allowed the team to move up the overall classification from 42nd at the start to a remarkable finishing position of 14th overall.

In total, the team lapped the Nürburgring 124 times and covered a distance of 3,100km at an average speed of more than 129kph.

"It was my first Nürburgring experience and a really good race," said Stephane. "Unlike normal racetracks the 'ring is similar to a public road and the Impreza seems well suited to it. For me, this event has been a mixture of a rally and a race. I really enjoyed my driving stints. The STi has a low center of gravity and is a very quick circuit car but the excellent AWD system really gives it an edge with a good turn-in ability and very neutral handling through the corners. Although we pushed it hard, the car ran perfectly - in fact I was quite surprised by how we've performed on our debut. Of course we wanted to be the class winner, but I think it was a very good experience for all of us."

I read the post, its basically flawed logic............an SL65 might be a tad overpriced.

But what it offers is extreme performance, luxury, coupe/convertible platform, practicality.

Ask Ben Treynor, who has a modded SL65......he also had a worked Viper RT/10, an M5, F355 Spyder, Renntech S600.

He just recently wasted a Lambo Gallardo.

Yet, a Gallardo or a Ferrari are not remotely as practical as an SL65.

So, you're basically basing your opinion off perceived prestige.

Whatever floats your boat, you vote with your wallet.

There are guys like Treynor, but then there are guys like this who traded their SL65 for a Gallardo.

it's not that bad, it looks better than it does now. It looks meaner. The current one looks soft, as bad as it is.

If that center grille wasn't there it would be perfect. The new head and tailights look great IMO.

WOW looking from the side by side comparo, the new STi actually looks alot nicer. im loving the new look! i thought it wasnt going to be this nice from the concept photos. i think its an awesome design to go along with the Suburu's snarly exhaust note on their more powerful cars!

It looks different next to the old model but I wouldn't say better. Neither are great but I'd pick the old design given the choice.

I bet you this has something to do with the "fins" we saw in the Evo MR at the same spot on the car. Let's see if it's some type of...answer to that tech from Subaru.

The funny thing is that the front lights now look a lot more like the new Saab lights. They remind me of those on the 9-7x

The grille and hood scoop look ridiculous. But the interior is quite nice for a performance vehicle, not really mean't to coddle it's passengers.

If you guys can wait, the 2007 Imprezas will get a "more radical" redesign and with 320HP 320TQ. The 2006s WILL NOT get the HP/TQ increase And other news, the Legacy STi will be coming to North America!!! Subaru is putting a TT H6 (currently used in Outbacks and B9s) into them!!
