Shelby: GT (based on Ford Mustang) News **H Version Revealed (page 1)**

From here: 2015 Shelby GT photographed completely undisguised

The 2015 Shelby GT has been caught on camera without any camouflage during a commercial shoot.

Chris Cantle from the Road&Track team had the chance to capture the car during his travel for a Ducati press event in Palm Springs. As you can see from the image above, the upgrade package for the new Ford Mustang features a heavily modified engine hood and a new silver radiator grille.

Reportedly, the 2015 Shelby GT will be available in a GT/SC version that will offer a significant power boost. The 2014 Shelby GT, for example, had up to 624 bhp (465 kW), which enabled the machine to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in approximately 3.7 seconds and run the quarter mile in the mid-11 second range.

I'd remove the Shelby letters below the spoiler and paint the radiator grille black.

Beast.

I seriously dislike black wheels. Those aren't even a good design either.

Agree with everyone else. It needs a black grille, new wheels and no badges

I want to like this car, but it looks a little riced out. It's like ford was building a ricer car and put on the cheapest looking rims they could, off craigslist. They don't look like American muscle at all. Looks european. Plus, I agree, the grill inserts should be blacked out. The C pillar badges look out of place as well.

Some minor cosmetic issues which can be easily corrected, but paying that much for a mustang, you'd think it'd be good to go from the factory.

From here: 2015 Ford Shelby GT Debuts With 625 Horsepower: Video

The Ford Motor Company’s [NYSE:F] new Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R Mustangs have just burst onto the scene, with new flat-plane crank V-8s to boot. However, if you’re looking for a Shelby Mustang built by the company that Carroll Shelby helped create, then the all-new 2015 Ford Shelby GT may be for you.
Revealed in Las Vegas over the weekend, the latest Shelby GT represents Shelby American’s first take on the sixth-generation Ford Mustang, and boy is it a beauty. The car is based on the 2015 Mustang GT but develops as much as 625 horsepower from a custom supercharger designed for the ‘Coyote’ 5.0-liter V-8.

It can be had with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic, and either coupe or convertible bodystyles, and if you hunger for more power Shelby is offering a package with more than 700 horses. The price of the basic package is $39,995, which doesn’t include the donor vehicle, so all up you’re looking at close to $73k.

While some of the internals, such as the supercharger, sourced from Ford Racing, are off-the-shelf parts, all exterior parts were designed and developed by Shelby in-house. Furthermore, all of the aero components, including the hood, are composed from lightweight carbon fiber while the front grille is billet aluminum.

Other upgrades include 3.73 gearing, a chrome-tipped Borla exhaust system, Wilwood front brakes, 20-inch staggered wheels from WELD Racing and Michelin tires. Some optional upgrades include the aforementioned 700-plus-horsepower package, new brakes at the rear, Shelby trim for the interior, and adjustable suspension. Buyers can also opt for some track time when picking up the car.

Shelby is now taking orders and deliveries should start in the second quarter of 2015. And, with the all-new Mustang available globally, Shelby will also be taking requests from buyers overseas and will even establish workshops in other countries. Like every genuine Shelby product, each of the cars will be listed in the official Shelby American Worldwide Registry to maximize its potential among the collector car crowd.

Post Available with EcoBoost

From here: Ford Shelby GT Now Available With Mustang's EcoBoost Engine

Shelby American’s first vehicle based on the Ford Motor Company’s [NYSE:F] sixth-generation Mustang was the Shelby GT, which is built from a donor Mustang GT and delivers in excess of 600 horsepower thanks to a custom supercharger upgrade for the car’s 5.0-liter V-8. But as Shelby expands outside of North America for the first time, the tuner has had to accept that in some markets there is significant demand for its products minus the V-8 engine.

That’s why the Shelby GT is now also available with the Mustang EcoBoost’s turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine. Ford doesn’t offer its V-6-powered Mustangs outside North America, hence the reason Shelby has focused on the four-banger.

“Ever since Ford announced that its terrific new Mustang would be available worldwide, requests for Shelby versions of the car have rolled in from across the globe,” Shelby American CEO Joe Conway said in a statement. “Since the majority of Mustangs that Ford offers in many of those countries will be the EcoBoost model, our team has been developing a Shelby GT model for the nimble new turbocharged four-cylinder car, as well as the V-8-powered GT.”

Shelby’s upgrades for the car see output dialed to 335 horsepower, up from 310 hp in the stock model. The cars also benefit from sharper handling, beefier brakes, 20-inch wheels, a new exhaust, carbon fiber aero aids, and various interior mods. Crucially, the vehicles are included in the official Shelby registry, even those examples being built in licensed workshops located around the globe.

Shelby says the package was specifically developed for a new network of ‘Shelby Mod Shops’ that will stretch from Europe to South Africa, China and Australia. They will add the Shelby package to a Ford Mustang that a customer has purchased locally. Of course, it’s also available Stateside.

Anyone with a Mustang EcoBoost can turn their car into a Shelby GT for $23,995. From here, there’s a lost list of optional extras that can be added including more aggressive brakes, stronger half shafts, more cooling, new brake ducts, and carbon fiber body accents.

2016 Ford Shelby GT-H Mustang

Press release...

Fifty years after the Shelby GT350-H was introduced, Ford Motor Company, Shelby American and Hertz unveiled a special run of performance-modified 2016 Ford Mustang GTs named the Shelby GT-H that will be available for rent beginning Memorial Day weekend. As a throwback to the famed Shelby GT350-H “Rent-A-Racer” program of the 1960s, a total of 140 2016 Ford Shelby GT-H’s will be available exclusively through the Hertz Adrenaline Collection at select airport locations in the continental United States.

“The1966 Ford Shelby GT350-H became a legend from the moment it was introduced,” said Joe Conway, Co-CEO of Carroll Shelby International and CEO of Shelby American. “Ten years ago, the 2006 Ford Shelby GT-H earned the same ‘rock star’ status when it was introduced at the New York Auto Show. We worked closely with Ford Performance to make the 2016 Shelby GT-H the most exciting Mustangever to wear the iconic Hertz black and gold livery.”

Fifty years ago, Carroll Shelby and Hertz saw an opportunity to put customers in the driver’s seat of high-performance special edition Shelby’s. Ford supplied the new Mustangs with V8 engines and mostly automatic transmissions, Shelby added extra performance and style and Hertz gave the public access to a unique driving experience through what was known then as its new “Rent-A-Racer” program. The companies repeated the same formula for the successful Ford Shelby GT-H program in 2006. Today, the story of the Shelby/Hertz “Rent-A-Racer” is legendary and the first two generation cars are among the most coveted by collectors worldwide.

Shelby American, Ford and Hertz repeated history to give the 2016 Ford Shelby GT-H a very classic, muscular look with additional performance capabilities.

“Our goal was to give everyone a chance to add some fun to their travel with a distinctive American pony car,” said Doug White, Ford Performance Parts manager. “So Ford Performance and Shelby American sharpened the handling, improved theperformance, sweetened the exhaust note and added distinctive Hertz styling to the Mustang.Anyonewho rents a limited edition Ford Shelby GT-H will enjoy a very special driving experience.”

The 2016 special edition Ford Shelby GT-H marks another Hertz car rental milestone in offering high-performance and specialty vehicles throughout the company’s 98-year history, and today through its Adrenaline, Dream Cars and Prestige collections.

“For nearly 100 years, understanding our customers’ needs and interests has remained at the forefront of our business,” said Matt Jauchius, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Hertz Global Holdings. “This special 50th anniversary edition of the Ford Shelby GT-H not only underscores our commitment to deliver a fun and personalized rental experience, but it also has helped Hertz become the premium brand it is today. It’s sure to be an exhilarating drive for anyone who has the chance to get behind the wheel of this one-of-a-kind ride.”

As with the past two generations, the 2016 Ford Shelby GT-H is instantly recognizable with several styling enhancements that celebrateitsheritage. Each Shelby GT-H will wear black exterior paint, set off with gold racing stripes, a hallmark of Hertz vehicles dating back to the 1920s.Shelby’s traditional "Le Mans" dual racing stripes are combined with a set of rocker stripes that include special "Shelby GT-H" nomenclature. Each car will also wear a Hertz Edition emblem on the front fenders, and feature Hertz Shelby GT-H sill plates and a numbered badge.

Ford Performance is supplying a cat-back performance exhaust for that throaty sound that will make this car unmistakably a Shelby Mustang GT-H. To put all of the horsepower to the ground, the Ford Shelby GT-H also comes with the Ford Racing Handling Pack, including special-tuned dampers, lowering springs, sway bars and a staggered wheel kit. The Shelby GT-H rides on 19-inch aluminum wheels wearing high performance Michelin rubber.

To hint at the 5.0liter V8 engine’s capabilities, the Ford Shelby GT-H is fitted with aunique Shelby-designed vented hood, carbon fiber front splitter and rear spoiler. Special badges appear in the front grille, rear faux gas cap and trunk lid. Inside, Shelby GT-H logos are on the headrestraint, sill plates and floor mats.

Shelby American will build the cars at its assembly facility in Las Vegas. With total production expected to number only around 140 units exclusively destined for Hertz rental fleets across the country, this special-edition car will give Hertz customers a truly exclusive driving experience.
