great list and find.

its interesting how some cars are selling well, while others arent.

dom 12-04-2003 10:27 PM

Wow, Gilbo being useful. We'll have to remember this day :D

Interesting

It looks like Camry sales are down from 02 while Accord sales are way up, but the Camry still looks like it will edge out the Accord unless Honda has a great Oct, Nov, Dec . Great battle though.

As far as the Civic Corolla matchup goes, it is'nt really a contest. The Corolla is outselling the Civic 262,403 to 240,331. Last year it was reversed with the Civic at 243,633 and Corolla at 188,851. I think this confirms how good the Corolla is and how bad the new Civic is too.

I wonder where these numbers comes from. In another list I saw it claims the BMW 3 series sells 10,000/month or twice what's on this list.:dunno:

well the list is for sedans only so they probably didnt the coupes....so the other list you saw probably included coupes as well... because i think coupes and sedans combined...BMW sells 100k+ of them a year i think

biker 12-05-2003 08:30 AM

gilboman has the answer, those numbers are for the sedan only.

Here are all of the numbers:

MODEL NOV 03 YTD 03 NOV 02 YTD 02 NOV 01 YTD 01

3 Series 10,206 103,818 10,432 103,807 7,827 93,827

5 Series 3,888 42,739 2,888 37,143 3,605 36,025

7 Series 2,349 18,910 1,882 20,230 740 13,357

BMW is doing pretty well with its new "Bangled" 5 series.

I am always stunt by Cavalier and Taurus sales numbers.

I've always liked the new 5. I just can't stand the Z4, 7 or 6. Especially the Z4 and 6, hideous, absolutely hideous. But at the same time, new designs no matter how ugly they are always seem to sell well initially. I'm not saying there will be sales drop for the fugly Bimmers but lets talk again in a couple of years.

jcg878 12-05-2003 09:11 AM

I noticed my first new 5 on the road today - it looked better in person than in pictures, methought.

(that's a word now, I've just declared it)

Especially since Cavaliers are death traps - why do some people not think of this when they buy cars??

Exactly, pictures don't do the new 5 justice. Having seen one in person completly changed my thinking about the car. However, the same did not happen with the Z4 or 7. I remember I kept walking around the Z4 looking for an angle that made it look good. Well needless to say I walked for miles and found nothing.

I saw one a couple weeks ago and I wasn't impressed at all...I still think they ruined a good thing with the new style.:bawling:

jcg878 12-05-2003 10:08 AM

How long has the new 5 been out relative to the 7? I see new 7's all the time, but this was the first new 5 I've noticed.

FWIW, the sales figures for the Corolla include sales of the Matrix.

The 7's been out for a year and a half. The new 5 just started being sold a month or so ago.

They do think about it. Unfortunately, the conclusion they come to is "It will never happen to me".

I have a friend with a Cavalier...and he thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread...seriously.

He's like "I've beat Civic SIs of the line" :drunk: And he swears they know they're racing.

But my question is...if he really really likes his car, does that mean he has a cavalier attitude? :teef:

off the line cavaliers probably will beat civic si's... but once the si hits third it should pull... i think those ecotech engines in them make like 140ish lb/ft torque and similar hp numbers... more power down low , where the si's have the power of a couple of hamsters:D but those cavaliers are even MORE ugly than that ugly racing shoe called the si... pretty hard to pull that off.

I wonder who the lucky 2 people were to buy suzuki esteems in the month of september.

MoMocedes 12-17-2003 04:16 PM

Look at the Lexus IS300's sales they are like in the 800s shocking new. The new body civic will outsell the Corolla, it is so much nicer.

Car rental companies buy tons of cars, and they don't care how well a car holds up after year one. I believe that even in its bestselling heyday, 50& of Taurus sales were fleet sales. Ford would sell those things at cost in bulk just to capture the #1 selling car title. Of course, they 'smartened' up and dropped that push when they found they could make 10k profits on an SUV.
