Scion t2b Concept News **Official Pics (page 1)**
Scion Concept Headed toNew York - - Source: The Car Connection
Auto show season is just halfway through - and next up is New York's auto show, which opens to the media on March 23. Among the introductions set for the New York show is a new concept from Toyota's Scion arm. The concept, dubbed t2b, shows off the brand's "style, versatility and surprise," a release said in sufficiently vague prose. No photos were released to accompany the announcement. While media days start on Wednesday the 23rd, the Scion press conference will be held on Thursday morning, the 24th, at 8:30 a.m. at New York's Javits Center.

Scion to Unveil xB Successor
Date Posted 03-08-2005
TORRANCE, Calif. — Toyota sources told Inside Line that Scion's all-new concept vehicle, known as t2B, will provide a sneak preview of the replacement for its current xB model. The t2B will be unveiled March 24 at the 2005 New York Auto Show.
The xB, which some critics said looks like a 7/8-scale Chevrolet Astro, was one of the first products launched by the youth-oriented brand in 2003. The Scion brand was set up to help lower the average age of Toyota buyers.
In a press release, Toyota on Monday said the t2B will "encompass bold exterior styling, innovative features and a passenger-friendly interior."
What this means to you: Scion has built its reputation on the funky styling of the xB. Whether it can come up with another hit to replace the xB will determine if it sticks around much longer.

If the xB came with awd like it does in Japan, it would be even more attactive to me as a winter beater.
I'm interested in what Scion has planned. I can't wait for the NY auto show...

Driving the corolla vs civic back to back, made the Honda look very bad one night.
Think its great the xb is already up for a new style, if scion can keep this up it will damage the under 20k market like never before.

Passing the torch from the xB to a successor will not be an easy thing for Scion, but the t2B maybe just down the right alley. Many of the quirkier items like single fog light and driver-side suicide doors and passenger-side minivan-like slider might not be production practical, but the overall shape, described like a “bay-window” makes the vehicle taller at the top than at the bottom to give it a roomier feel.

2005 New York: Scion t2B concept forecasts possible future for xB - - By MARK RECHTIN | Automotive News - - SOurce: Autoweek
NEW YORK -- Toyota's Scion youth brand unveiled three concepts for future products: a possible heir to the xB along with scale models of a mini-truck and a three-door fastback.
All three vehicles are designed to be built from the Avensis platform that also spawned the Scion tC coupe.
The t2B concept gives broad hints at a potential successor to the xB, but Toyota spokesman Mike Michels cautioned that the vehicles are merely "exploratory."
"It's not to be interpreted as the next xB, but as a number of possible directions for Scion to go," Michels said.
The t2B -- which stands for "Tall Two-Box" -- uses the same 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine as the tC and Toyota Camry.
Scion designed two different door concepts on the t2B. For rear-seat access, the driver's side has remote-controlled doors hinged at the rear, while the passenger's side has one large power-sliding door. Neither side of the car has traditional B-pillars.
The t2B has a massive rear window that doubles as a projection screen for movies or video games.
Scion designers made the headliner the widest area inside the car. The extra headroom gives an ambiance similar to a lounge hangout for the t2B's four occupants.
Scion also presented two other vehicles in one-quarter scale model form. The "Cargo" is a two-seater mini-truck with a small bed for messy gear. The Fastback takes a more aggressive approach to the t2B with a steeply raked rear hatch.
