That would be a very fast car.
As it is, I think the Sky compares very favorably with any sub $30-k roadster out there.

I am sure we'll see at least 220HP from a Supercharged engine a year later.

It's to close for comfort to the Solctice, IMO. The Pontiac is better looking. With the Sky here, and Saturn's Red Line firmly established, Saturn in now decidely sporty. Add to that the Aura, which is a beautiful fucking premium sedan, and you've got Saturn seriously moving up the GM food chain. I wonder how Pontiac (sport) and Buick (supposed Lex level lux) feels about that...

I will get either a sky or sostice at the end of 2006 in the dead winter when they are discounted the most. 170horses is fine for me. My only concern is that it will be a chick car. The S2000 didn't turn into a chick car so hopfully this won't either but the small size does have thinking otherwise...

hey not bad at all. This would be one of the very rare GM products I'd actually think of buying. I like the Opel GT, but it does have a Saturn badge instead of the Opel badge. Then again, IMO the badge doesn't mean anything until you get to around 45k+ (Toureg, Phaeton/ Cayenne, A8)

I think what its going to equal is GM's own brands competing for sales between each other which can't be great.

I stand corrected. I had a different car in mind when I answered. The Opel GT, the Solstice, the Lightning and the Sky are basically "sister cars", or cousins if you prefer.

So when I posted the Auto Motor und Sport pic for the OPEL GT in this thread , we knew what the Sky looks like. They are "identical" inside and out:
OPEL
SKY
OPEL
SKY

Saturn Reaches for the Sky With a Snarky Little Roadster
Introduced on Monday: Saturn Sky two-seat roadster
What's the point? Saturn dealers have only three models to sell - but nothing remotely sporty. The Sky roadster will be a gift from above to those customers looking for humane treatment at the dealership and a highly styled two-seater.
Is it real? Yes. Sky will be in showrooms by early 2006
The company line: Saturn general manager Jill Lajdziak says, "The Sky is not the limit. It's only the beginning."
The view from here: This is without doubt the coolest Saturn ever, with more style under its fingernails than the rest of the line combined. But will the Saturn dealers know how to sell style and performance?
What makes it tick? Like the Pontiac Solstice roadster, the Sky is built on the G.M. Kappa small rear-drive platform. It will have a 170-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with variable valve timing and buyer's choice of 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic.
How much? How soon? Saturn pegs the price of the Sky at less than $25,000. It will be built at the company's Wilmington, Del., plant.

Looked absoultely awesome in person. Beautiful and 170hp isn't bad at all, but I'd wait for the more powerful version. I asked a Saturn rep in Detroit about the possibility of a more powerful version and he stated that it will come but that's as much as he can say right now.

Very nice, but definitely an odd addition to the Saturn family. If I was looking for a fun $25k car, though, I'd test drive this one for sure. Heck, I'll probably test drive it anyway.
I wonder what it'll look like with the top up.

Saturn Sky pics from Autoshowinmotion
Checked out the event today and boy was it sweet! Long list of cars to test drive and I did most of the luxury cars. Let's see... there was the Cobalt SS, new 325, C230, A4 3.2 quattro, various Saabs, CTS, STS, GTO, TL... blah, a lot of cars. GM event with quite a few competitors cars. Oh yea, can't forget the C6 Corvette
Anyways, I didn't get a chance to take pics of those cars because it's pointless but then I saw the Saturn Sky there! No tests but it's so nice. Here goes...
