Missing the point entirely.

Who knew they still make sports cars?!?!?!?

There was a time when that is all they really made.
...and that was a very good thing.

...that and when they built and designed tank turrets.
I'll take a Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausf. B w/ Porsche turret please!!!!

I've always been underwhelmed at Porsche building CUV/SUV's.

I know exactly what you meant.

I'm sure there are boatload of porsche diehard guys who feel the same way.

Personally love how they branch out to other categories though.

Moog is just afraid of change. It'll be okay buddy.

I think it's an awesome niche to take on, though a bit strange that they don't offer a powertrain option that's a bit downmarket. No N/A flat-6 base model? I thought this was smaller than the Cayenne.

I really want to dog the Macan, but after sitting in one, the quality of the materials is just as good as interior of the Panamera.

BTW, the models at Porsche and Audi were top notch.

This car is a great deal if you look at it as a Porsche and overpriced if you look at it as a Q5.

This thing just hit the radar screen for me. I never thought I'd like something like this but I do. Porschephiles are done screaming-without the Cayenne and Panamera, Porsche's coffers would be much less flush with cash and I imagine after they sell 50K of these Macans, the $$ flow will certainly help make their upper level cars even better. I'd take this over a "Squive" any day (SQ5)

Just remember that those CUV/SUV sales are what continue to fund Porsche's ability to make cars like the 918 Spyder. I am all for them doing what they have to in order to continue to make fantastic sports cars like the Cayman and 911.

As for the Macan, I am intrigued, but not really tempted.

I was at the Detroit show with a friend I was visiting down in Michigan. The T.O. show is in a few short weeks. I always to with my dad, so will be there.

Eventually I'll get around to putting up a few 918 pics,...I got to go in the locked/enclosed room and get the full tour/sit in car etc deal because of who I was with.

Sure

They only had Turbos there, so all my comments are about that model. I don't think there is too much difference though.

- The optional side blade panel things on the doors kinda look stupid (they were in CF on the one I sat in). I would not get that option.

- The rear seats fold flat, and made a pretty good looking cargo area. I was impressed by that.

- Sitting inside the drivers seat felt very good. The seats were comfy, and the steering wheel felt great (smaller/sporty). Interior looked quality, and reminded me of the Panamera etc. The one I was in had all sorts of CF trim all over, including the steering wheel. It was nice, but I don't know if it would be an option I would get.

- BUTTONS!!! A few people were complaining about the number of buttons, but I thought it was fine. Easy/quick access to whatever you are trying to do in a convenient location.

- Ingress/Egress was pretty easy, since the car is not that high/tall.

- I thought it was a pretty good looking vehicle, although both were silver (hate silver). In some more dynamic colours, in person,...I think it would look great. The car itself did not feel too big, which is a good thing. I'm guessing it will be a pretty good handling vehicle.

- I didn't think to check out the sight lines of the car, so no idea about rear visibility. It's honestly like a Porsche wagon (why I like it so much), so I don't think it would be too bad.

I pretty much jumped inside, then thought to myself, "I want this car." For me, it looks like it would be a reasonably quick, nice handling vehicle with some good utility.

from what I've seen, you can't get the Macan w/o the "blades" but don't have to purchase CF if you don't want to. I like 'em, takes away the slab-sidedness of the thing. I can't wait to see this thing in person, going to be a definite choice for me I believe.

https://www.carscoops.com/2018/07/20...eshed-styling/

Porsche has lifted the veils off the facelifted 2019 Macan which now features a refreshed exterior styling and a revamped cabin with more tech features.

The most distinctive visual change can be found at the back, with the Macan now featuring a three-dimensional LED strip across its tail, bringing it in line with the rest of the Porsche lineup.

At the front, the new Macan gets redesigned LED headlights as standard and Porsche’s Dynamic Light System Plus as an option. Porsche has also added new colors to the Macan’s palette, including Miami Blue, Mamba Green Metallic, Dolomite Silver Metallic and Crayon.

The facelift also brought a range of new driver assistance systems to the Macan, including Porsche’s Traffic Jam Assist. The Porsche Macan is still considered as one of the sportiest compact SUVs but the company still did some fine-tuning to the chassis for “enhanced neutrality” and improved comfort. The smallest of the Porsche SUVs is also getting newly developed tires and new 20- and 21-inch wheel designs.

However the highlight of the updated 2019 Macan can be found inside; Porsche has redesigned the dashboard, adding its latest 11-inch infotainment system which features a full-HD touchscreen display and a customizable interface. The central air-vents are now positioned under the central screen while there’s a new steering wheel that features the so-called Sport Response button.

The new infotainment system also comes equipped with a Connect Plus module, meaning it’s fully networked as standard. This enables functions such as intelligent voice control and real-time traffic information.

Porsche didn’t reveal any engine specs at this point, reportedly because of delays in the WLTP emission testing. Base models will continue using a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine but the rest of the range will retire the old 3.6-liter V6 and use instead a pair of more modern V6s.

2019 Macan S and GTS models are expected to be powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, while the range-topping Macan Turbo is getting the 2.9-liter V6 unit known from models like the Audi RS4. Diesel models will probably be ditched from the range.

Shocking: Next-Gen Porsche Macan Crossover Will be Electric-Only - The Drive

Porsche has confirmed that its smallest crossover, the recently updated Macan, will become an electric vehicle (EV) "at the start of the next decade."

The Stuttgart-based automaker stated Tuesday that the Macan will become the third EV in its lineup, following the launch of the Taycan electric sedan late this year and its Taycan Cross Turismo variant shortly thereafter. Like both these vehicles, the Macan EV will utilize the 800-volt drivetrain developed in coordination by Porsche and Audi, along with the PPE or J1 vehicle platform that underpins them. Porsche did not specify when the electric Macan will launch, though a report from Monday claims it will arrive on the market for 2022.

Manufacturing of the Macan EV will be performed at Porsche's Leipzig plant, which has been retooled to build EVs. Leipzig was the site of the Cayenne's birth in 2002, and the Macan's in 2011. Today, the factory builds more than 90,000 vehicles per annum, many of which are sold globally.

"By 2022 we will be investing more than six billion euros in electric mobility, and by 2025, 50 percent of all new Porsche vehicles could have an electric drive system," stated Porsche's Chairman of the Board, Oliver Blume. "Nevertheless, over the next ten years we will focus on a drive mix consisting of even further optimized petrol engines, plug-in hybrid models, and purely electrically operated sports cars. Our aim is to take a pioneering role in technology, and for this reason we will continue to consistently align the company with the mobility of the future."

The Porsche Taycan is one of the best electric vehicles on the market. It’s quick, has solid range, and looks sharp. Yet it’s a car, which isn’t where the buyers are flocking. Not one to ignore market trends, Porsche will soon rectify the hole in its portfolio by doing exactly what it should: making a battery-electric compact crossover, in Porsche’s case, a Macan EV, and it’s closer than you think.

This electric Macan will usher in Porsche’s new EV platform, expertly called the Premium Platform Electric, or PPE. Because this Macan is kicking off a new platform, Porsche is not skimping on any chance to evaluate the new product. As such, the automaker is deploying all of the tools it can to evaluate this Macan and test everything.

Similar to Cadillac’s digital approach, Porsche is taking a lot of the evaluation process for a new vehicle to the computer. “We started with a flow-around model when the project first started about four years ago,” says Dr. Thomas Wiegand, director of aerodynamic development. As we learned from talking with the folks at Cadillac, these digital models can help you understand how air moves around a car better than a clay model in a wind tunnel.

Taking this digitized evaluation process even a step further, Porsche created a testbed for its operating software and new displays in a simulated Macan. Using a tool called a seat box, Porsche created a digitized Macan interior and its surrounds to evaluate and test the real-world equipment slated for the upcoming Macan.

The all-electric Macan is slated for launch in 2023. Porsche has yet to mention any of the hard facts and figures of the upcoming Macan’s powertrain, but it does suggest it’s going to be expectedly sporty. We won’t know about that for sure until we slide behind the wheel.

The new-for-2022 Porsche Macan is here. Thanks to previous spy shots and reports on performance we aren't met with many surprises but we do have all the details on what's new, what's gone, and how much it will cost to put the performance-oriented crossover in your garage.

This big news is obviously the absence of the Turbo model, but fear not purveyors of power. The top-tier Macan is now the GTS, but it gains the 434-horsepower (324-kilowatt) version of the twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 used in the Turbo. With the optional Sport Chrono Package fitted, Porsche says it reaches 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and flat-out it goes 169 mph. That's actually two mph faster than the Turbo, so there's certainly no performance lost in the transition.

Actually, performance is up for all Macan trim levels. The base Macan's turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder increases to 261 hp (195 kW) and 295 pound-feet (400 Newton-meters) from last year, while the Macan S takes the place of last year's GTS. That means a 375-hp (280-kW) version of the boosted V6 is under the hood, and all Macans drive all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. Additional standard-issue items on the GTS include Porsche Surface Coated Brakes, adaptive air suspension with a slightly lower ride height, and a suspension that's up to 15 percent stiffer compared to the previous GTS.

Optional for the GTS is a sport package that includes performance necessities like the Sport Chrono Package and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, but also adds a plethora of eye candy. Sport Design side mirrors are finished in gloss black, 21-inch GT Design wheels get high-performance tires, there are 18-way sport seats inside, and there's more black is found on the side skits as well as the front and rear fascias.

Speaking of fascias, that's where you'll find the minor visual updates. The front fascia gains integrated air intakes and front trim finished in body color. The three narrow vents at the bottom of the fascia are now blended into one continuous strip, and the entire face looks a bit more boxy and symmetrical. The prominent side blades have a different texture that Porsche likens to a 3D element, and the rear fascia has a black diffuser that's stretched upwards. LED headlights are standard, and Porsche says there are no less than seven new wheel designs to choose from, starting in either 19-inch or 21-inch sizes depending on trim level.

Updates for the interior are similarly subtle. A redesigned center console is the primary change, offering haptic touch elements for a cleaner look while also offering more storage. A shorter gear stalk extends from the console, and the driver takes care of business with a new steering wheel adopted from the 911. In the center, you'll find a 10.9-inch touchscreen and the standard-issue analog clock. A bevy of driver-assist and safety systems such as park assist, lane-keep assist, and other features are available.

As for pricing, Porsche says the 2022 Macan starts at $54,900. The Macan S starts at $65,400, while the flagship GTS starts at $79,000. $1,350 in delivery charges is extra across the board, and all trims will reach dealerships in early 2022.

I always felt that a top end Porsche SUV with that much power on tap should be a lot faster than 4.1 to 60. Anyway, the EV version of the Macan sounds delightful. Hopefully it's not in the six figures lol.

At $80k for the GTS, plus however much for the Sport Chrono pkg, I'd be shocked to see an EV Macan under 100k OTD. Maaaybe, in the 90k range.

EV tech has been getting a lot cheaper and they should be able to take some economies of scale with the plethora of VW and Audi EV's to borrow parts from. I'm hoping that a Macan EV comes in at the $70k-$80k price point or else it won't make a whole lot of sense against the competition that's either bigger, faster, or both.

Whatever it is, it'll be less than the equivalent Tesla, so the Macan = hot garbage.

43,618 – that's how many Macans were delivered in the first half of the year, putting Porsche's smaller crossover in second place in terms of sales, right behind the Cayenne with 44,050 units. It's safe to say the Macan has been a veritable cash cow for the Zuffenhausen brand ever since its introduction in 2014, but the sporty crossover isn't immune to increasingly stringent emissions regulations.

Consequently, the gasoline-fueled Macan will stick around for only a few more years before Porsche will pull the proverbial plug. This isn't just some wild speculation on our part as the news comes straight from the vehicle's product line boss. In an interview with Autocar magazine, Sebastian Staiger said the model will likely be dropped in just three years' time.

Asked when the Macan will switch entirely to electric propulsion, Staiger said "Today, no final decision has been taken, but we assume that 2024 will be the year." He explained legislation plays a major role in a vehicle's life, adding "emission laws are another limiting factor." With Euro 7 due to come into effect in 2025, it's no wonder Porsche is accelerating its EV efforts by switching focus to the zero-emissions model.

Speaking of which, it will be revealed at some point next year and go on sale in 2023. It will be the first electric model to ride on the Premium Platform Electric architecture jointly developed by Porsche and Audi, with the latter working on a Q6 E-Tron also coming next year. The Four Rings are also working on a PPE-based A6 E-Tron as previewed by a namesake concept earlier this year.

As a refresher, Porsche recently updated the gas-powered Macan with minor visual tweaks inside and out, along with a modified hierarchy as the Turbo has been dropped. Instead, GTS is now the top dog in the lineup, packing the same twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 as the old Turbo, complete with 434 horsepower. The Macan S now takes the place of the previous GTS with 375 hp on tap, while the base four-cylinder model has been upgraded to 261 hp.

It remains to be seen whether the Macan will be updated furthermore before bidding adieu, but it's pretty obvious time is running out for the gas model as Porsche's R&D team is now channeling most of its efforts towards the upcoming EV model.

Get your ICE Macan while you can. Or, wait until the EVs are selling & pick up a 2nd hand/CPO ICE Macan for 'cheap'

At those prices and performance... X3M is a bargain... Unless of course you wanna go get a Model Y... But then again X3M LCI just got really weird looking front end and rear tails.

The Macan is a great SUV but it's WAY too expensive for what it is. Ditto for the Cayenne. The X3M is a performance bargain for what it is, ditto for the MYP but the Tesla isn't nearly as good as on the quality/materials front.

The Macan T has now been added to the successful Porsche model range. This is the first four-door sports car that will bear the special designation, which was previously the reserve of the 911 and 718 models. The letter T has represented a unique form of dynamic driving at Porsche since the 1960s. It stands for 'Touring' and identifies models that offer an especially authentic driving experience thanks to precise tuning, exclusive equipment and efficient engines. True to the spirit of the Porsche 911 T from 1968, the new Macan T features an incredibly dynamic set-up and a lightweight, two-litre turbo engine, combined with an athletic design and a range of standard equipment that is ideal for a sporty driving style. This concept positions the Macan T between the Macan and the Macan S.

Two-litre turbo engine with 265 PS: lightweight, for an agile response

The two-litre, four-cylinder turbo engine of the Porsche Macan T combines great agility, low weight and a compact design to create a package that offers an ideal balance of weight and performance. Compared to the 2.9-litre biturbo V6 engine in the Macan S and GTS models, the powertrain in the Macan T weighs 58.8 kg less on the front axle. This gives the vehicle an excellent start-off performance and optimum cornering ability.

The Porsche Macan T has an output of 195 kW (265 PS) and 400 Nm of torque - characteristics that suit the precise vehicle design and deliver an exhilarating drive. As is generally the case with the compact SUV, the engine is coupled with a fast-switching seven-speed dual clutch transmission (PDK) and the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive system. A broad spread of torque provides responsive acceleration in all driving situations. When fitted with the standard Sport Chrono Package including the mode switch and Sport Response button on the steering wheel, the Macan T accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 232 km/h.

Specially tuned chassis lowered by 15 millimetres or more

The Porsche Macan T is the only Porsche model to feature steel suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard, combined with the body being lowered by 15 mm. The anti-roll bars on the front axle are more rigid and the car's chassis tuning has been optimised to create the perfect suspension for the vehicle and powertrain, resulting in very responsive steering behaviour and agile handling.

The Porsche Traction Management (PTM) has also been adapted to the driving demands of the Macan T and has been specially designed with a rear-wheel bias. Adding adaptive air suspension with PASM and lowering the body by a further 10 mm is also an option - a new feature for Macan models with four-cylinder engines. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) can also be added: the system has been adapted to the dynamic characteristics of the T model and further sharpens the driving dynamics.

Exclusive details inside and out

Design elements painted in Agate Grey Metallic on the front, flank and rear of the Porsche Macan T differentiate the vehicle from other models in the series. The exclusive contrast colour can be seen on the painted front trim, exterior mirrors, side blades, roof spoiler and logos on the rear. Sports tailpipes and side window trims in Black (high gloss) are included as standard and the side blades feature the 'Macan T' logo in Black. Twenty-inch Macan S wheels, exclusively in dark titanium, come as standard. Customers can choose from a range of 13 plain, metallic and special colours for the exterior.

The interior of the Macan T has its own distinct ambience. The standard, eight-way electrically adjustable heated sports seats feature exclusive upholstery based on the Black leather package. The centres of the front seats and the outer rear seats are delivered with the Sport-Tex Stripe pattern and the front headrests each have an embossed Porsche crest. The contrasting colour from the exterior continues inside the vehicle in the form of decorative silver stitching on the seats, headrests and steering wheel.

Standard equipment also includes a multifunction GT heated sports steering wheel and the Sport Chrono stopwatch in the upper part of the dashboard. The door entry guards come in black aluminium as standard and feature a Macan T logo. Optional features include the multifunction GT sports steering wheel in Race-Tex with carbon trims and an ioniser.

The Porsche Macan T also benefits from all of the new elements of the model generation revised in summer 2021, such as the new centre console with its sophisticated glass-look and touch-sensitive surface, as well as the fully networked Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with a 10.9-inch touch screen and online navigation as standard.

Available from € 69,462

Porsche is offering the Macan T at a starting price of € 69,462 including VAT and country-specific equipment. The new model is available to order now. Deliveries in Germany will commence in April 2022.

There's no way it costs that much here in the US. The Macan S is significantly cheaper than that and would make this version completely pointless. With the Macan starting at $55k and the S at $65k I can only guess that this will be $60k.

It was written in the stars and somewhere in Stuttgart EVs are going to take over, so there’s no time to lose. Porsche may try its best to develop eFuels so the internal combustion engine won’t die, but it proved with the Taycan that it can make great all-electric cars. Now, others must follow the total electrification path. So, let’s look at a camouflaged Macan EV prototype which might become another part of the marque’s success story.

Unofficially perceived by many Porsche insiders as the vehicle that most helped the German brand to strengthen its position during difficult periods, the Macan is undoubtedly an important model for the brand. In a world where high-riding vehicles are preferred by buyers of all backgrounds, crossover, midsize, and full-size SUVs matter more than gearheads would like to admit. This idea is reinforced by Porsche’s plans to bring a bigger-than-Cayenne SUV in 2027 which will be completely electric.

Even though many car companies base a good chunk of their existence on passion and enthusiasm, being a for-profit company means that you must also satisfy the needs of customers who are not always after vehicles like the 911 GTS or the Panamera Turbo S Sport Turismo. Somewhat ironically, in today’s market, the fate of these vehicles can end up depending on how successful the SUVs are. Fortunately, Porsche’s enthusiast models perform pretty well in the sales department. The 911 (992) is a hit, and its only all-electric car – the Taycan – received praise from nearly everyone, including hardcore EV naysayers.

All this tells us that Macan must continue to be a great compact SUV. From the looks of it, the breadcrumbs we’re being fed through various channels indicate that it will indeed be a model worthy of the Porsche badge.

Pictures published recently on a popular online forum display a Macan EV prototype charging in Norway. Around a month ago the vehicle was seen enduring the cold in Germany. It seems like Porsche wants to seriously stress test the compact SUV before its public debut. And things are looking good!

The 175-kW charger images confirm that the battery is going to have a capacity of around 100 kWh. In a little over 15 minutes of being plugged in, the vehicle pulled 44.1 kWh from the charger, and the state of charge (SoC) shown in the picture is 52%. Even if we don’t know at what SoC the Macan EV test mule was plugged in, the great charging curve displayed at over 52% SoC while the outside temperature is below freezing level is encouraging. Staying above 170 kW while the weather is unfriendly is a welcoming sight for those worried about range and reliability in various environments.

We can speculate on the usable battery capacity, but it wouldn’t be of any help in this instance.

The pictures also show that the split headlights are confirmed to remain on the final version of the compact SUV. Moreover, we can see that Porsche didn’t choose a weird placement for the charge port like it did with the Boxster EV prototype. The all-electric Macan has it on the driver's side, right above the rear wheel. It’s similar to what you can find on an internal combustion engine vehicle.

Ten years after its launch, the Porsche Macan is heading into its second model generation, now in all-electric form. Through its progressive, timeless design, characteristic Porsche performance, long-distance range and high everyday practicality, the new Macan 4 and the new Macan Turbo aim to completely fulfil the requirements of Porsche customers choosing an SUV. "We are taking the Macan to a completely new level - with exceptional E-Performance, the new Driver Experience, and a very impressive design," said Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, on the occasion of the world premiere in Singapore.

"Our aim is to offer the sportiest model in its segment with the all-electric Macan," says Jörg Kerner, Vice President Product Line Macan. Porsche exclusively uses the latest generation of permanently-excited PSM electric motors on the front and rear axles to achieve excellent efficiency and enable optimum reproducibility of the power output. The numbers alone indicate top-class E-Performance: In combination with Launch Control, the Macan 4 produces up to 300 kW (408 PS) of overboost power, while the Macan Turbo boasts up to 470 kW (639 PS). The maximum torque is 650 and 1,130 Nm, respectively. This guarantees excellent driving performance. The Porsche Macan 4 accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, while the Macan Turbo takes just 3.3 seconds. The two models achieve top speeds of 220 and 260 km/h, respectively.

New Premium Platform Electric with 800-volt architecture

The electric motors draw their energy from a lithium-ion battery in the underbody, with a gross capacity of 100 kWh, of which up to 95 kWh can be actively used. The HV battery is a central component of the newly developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with 800-volt architecture, used by Porsche for the first time in the new Macan. The DC charging output is up to 270 kW. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent within approximately 21 minutes at a suitable fast-charging station. At 400-volt charging stations, a high-voltage switch in the battery enables bank charging by effectively splitting the 800-volt battery into two batteries, each with a rated voltage of 400 volts. This enables particularly efficient charging, without an additional HV booster, at up to 135 kW. AC charging at up to 11 kW is possible at household wall boxes.

Up to 240 kW of energy can be recuperated via the electric motors while driving. The Integrated Power Box (IPB) also contributes to the efficiency of the new Macan models, while also saving weight and space. The innovative and compact IPB combines three components - the on-board AC charger, the high-voltage heater and the DC/DC converter. The combined WLTP range is up to 613 km in the Macan 4 and up to 591 km in the Macan Turbo.

Sporty proportions and coupé-like lines

Thanks to the sharper proportions and Porsche Design DNA, the new Macan models look dynamic and dominant. "With the all-electric Macan, we are presenting the first Porsche that we are taking electric from an established product identity," says Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche. "The new Macan is clearly recognisable by its brand identity as part of the Porsche product family. The classic Porsche proportions have been further developed and optimally adapted to the challenges of an electric vehicle. This has further heightened the sporty, modern and dynamic appearance of the Macan. The design makes it clear: The Macan remains the sports car in its segment, even in electric form."

The shallow pitch of the bonnet and the strongly pronounced wings give the entry-level SUV, which is 4,784 mm long, 1,938 mm wide and 1,622 mm high, a dynamic appearance even when stationary. The new Porsche Macan is fitted with up to 22-inch wheels with staggered tyre fitment. The wheelbase, which is 86 mm longer than the previous model (2,893 mm), is offset by short overhangs at the front and rear. The headlights are divided into two parts: the flat upper light unit with four-point daytime running lights is embedded in the wings and emphasises the width of the car. The main headlight module with optional matrix LED technology is positioned slightly lower in the front end. The characteristic Porsche flyline forms a unit with the flat rear window. In combination with the frameless doors with characteristic side blades, the result is a sleek, sporty design. Strongly pronounced shoulders give the rear a muscular look. The Porsche logo now sits in the centre of the sculptural 3D light strip.

Active and passive aerodynamics for greater range

Porsche combines its design DNA with aerodynamics optimised for range. Thanks to the Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) with active and passive elements and a drag coefficient of 0.25, the new Porsche Macan is one of the most streamlined SUVs on the market - with positive effects on range and power consumption. The PAA system includes the adaptive rear spoiler, active cooling flaps on the front air intakes and flexible covers on the fully sealed underbody. Air curtains below the headlight module and the low-slung front end optimise the air flow. At the rear, lateral tear-off edges and the louvred diffuser ensure aerodynamic efficiency.

Two luggage compartments and increased interior space

The new Porsche Macan is a performance-oriented SUV with a high level of practicality for everyday use, high-quality equipment and spacious configuration. Electrification has led to increased luggage space in the Macan. Depending on the model and equipment fitted, the capacity behind the rear seat bench is up to 540 litres (cargo mode). In addition, there is the 'frunk', a second luggage compartment under the bonnet with a capacity of 84 litres. This amounts to 136 litres more than the previous model. If the rear seat backrest is folded down completely, the rear luggage compartment capacity increases to up to 1,348 litres. The maximum towing capacity of 2,000 kg rounds off the highly practical qualities of the new Macan.

Depending on the model and equipment fitted, the driver and front passenger now sit up to 28 mm lower than before, while the rear passengers sit up to 15 mm lower with increased legroom. The interior is unmistakably Porsche: the width of the cockpit is emphasised by an integrated black panel. The rising design of the centre console heightens the impression of a low and performance-focused position in the vehicle. At the same time, large windows give a light and airy feel to the interior space. In addition to the modern digital user interfaces, there are also select analogue control elements - for example, on the air vents and the air conditioning controls. An LED light strip is integrated into the thoughtfully designed trim strip of the cockpit and doors. It acts as both ambient lighting and a communication light. Depending on the situation, it provides information or warnings - such as for greetings, charging processes or in conjunction with the driver assistance systems. The equipment in the new Macan enables a high degree of customisation.

Porsche also aims to use more ecological materials in its cars. A proportion of such materials is used in selected parts in the interior of the all-electric Macan.

Driver experience: high computing power and connectivity

The Porsche Macan is equipped with the latest-generation display and operating concept with up to three screens, including the free-standing 12.6-inch, curved-design instrument cluster and the 10.9-inch central display. For the first time, the passenger can also view information, adjust settings on the infotainment system or stream video content while the car is being driven via their own optional 10.9-inch screen. For the first time, the Porsche Driver Experience also includes a head-up display with augmented reality technology. Virtual elements such as navigation arrows are visually integrated seamlessly into the real world. The image appears to the driver at a distance of 10 metres and corresponds to the size of an 87-inch display.

The new-generation infotainment system is based on Android Automotive OS. The standard Porsche Communication Management (PCM) in the new Macan takes computing performance to a new level. For example, the "Hey Porsche" voice assistant suggests routes, including charging stops, at lightning speed. In the new Porsche App Centre, passengers can directly access popular apps from third-party providers and install them directly in the new Macan.

First Macan with rear-axle steering and two-valve dampers

Porsche developed the Macan with a keen focus on quintessential Porsche driving dynamics and a characteristic steering feel. "Thanks to its particularly sporty seat position and low centre of gravity, as well as its impressive driving dynamics and steering precision, the new Macan delivers a real sports car feeling," explains Product Line Vice President Jörg Kerner.

Both the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo have all-wheel drive. The two electric motors are controlled via the power electronics almost in real time. The electronically controlled Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) operates around five times faster than a conventional all-wheel drive system and can respond to slip within 10 milliseconds. In addition, the all-wheel drive distribution is governed by the selected driving programme. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), an electronically controlled differential lock on the rear axle, also contributes to the traction, driving stability and lateral dynamics of the Macan Turbo.

Macan models with air suspension - also standard on the Turbo - are equipped with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) electronic damping control. This can also be combined with the steel-spring suspension as an option. PASM now also features dampers with two-valve technology. Thanks to the more expansive damper map, this results in a wider spectrum between comfort and performance. This makes the differences between the driving programmes even more tangible.

For the first time, the Porsche Macan has optional rear-axle steering, with a maximum steering angle of five degrees. It enables a compact turning circle of 11.1 metres in urban traffic and when manoeuvring, while simultaneously enabling exceptional driving stability at higher speeds, ably assisted by the consistent and precise front-axle steering for which the brand is known.

Since 2014, Porsche has delivered more than 800,000 examples of the Macan worldwide. This success story is set to continue with this all-electric successor, which is produced in a net carbon neutral way at the Porsche Plant Leipzig. The new models will be delivered to the first customers during the second half of the year. Prices including VAT and country-specific equipment start in Germany at € 84,100 for the Macan 4 and € 114,600 for the Macan Turbo.
