Press release for the Targa 4 GTS:

To mark the 50th anniversary of the 911 Targa, Porsche is offering this very popular model in the more powerful and dynamic GTS version for the first time. The targa concept of the 911 Targa 4 GTS delivers very safe driving enjoyment with all-wheel drive and a rollover protection bar; it also delivers open-air fun with a targa top that stows fully automatically. Contributing to a boost in dynamic performance are the 430 hp (316 kW) GTS engine together with the standard Sport Chrono package, PASM chassis, 20-inch wheels and a sport exhaust system.

Despite its significantly extended features, the weight-to-power ratio with the 430-hp engine was improved from 3.9 kg to just 3.6 kg per horsepower compared to the S model. This lets the Targa 4 GTS reach a top speed of over 300 km/h (186 mph) with a PDK transmission, and the stopwatch records 4.3 seconds for the sprint from zero to 100 km/h (0 – 60 mph in 4.1 seconds). Although the engine produces an additional 30 hp (22 kW), its combined fuel consumption – which ranges from 9.2 to 10.0 l/100 km, depending on the type of transmission – is exactly the same as for the 911 Targa 4S.

The latest Targa can be made out at first glance as a GTS model with all-wheel drive, because – compared to the two-wheel drive 911 Carrera models – the rear wheel arches are flared an additional 22 millimeters, and the rear tires are ten millimeters wider. The front view is defined by the sport design of the car's front end with an opening for the auxiliary middle radiator and the smoked bi-xenon headlights that feature the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS). In a side view, characteristic GTS attributes are the silky gloss black 20-inch 911 Turbo S wheels with central locks, the sport design door mirrors and “GTS" signatures on the doors. The “targa" logo on the silver rollover protection bar is also painted in silky gloss black. Black accents at the rear are the glossy trim on the air inlet screen, the model logo and the chrome tailpipes.

GTS DNA also defines the interior of the 911 Targa 4 GTS. Integrated at the center of the instrument panel is the stopwatch of the Sport Chrono package. In the front, the four-way adjustable Sport Plus seats – with their black GTS logo on the head restraints – provide additional lateral support and long-distance cruising comfort for driver and passenger. The dominant interior material is black Alcantara, which is just half the weight of leather.

The targa has been an established member of the 911 lineup since it made its debut back in 1965. Around one out of eight 911 cars ever sold was a targa. The market share of the latest generation of this exquisitely styled 911 with its characteristic rollover protection bar is 13 percent – and it is growing. With the 911 Targa 4 GTS, Porsche is extending its lineup of the modern classic by adding a top model whose extensive package of standard features and price are appealing.

The Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS will be launched in Germany from mid-March 2015. The price is 137,422 Euro including value added tax and country-specific features.

Indeed. Here's the press release...

Atlanta. Celebrating six decades of the largest Porsche club organization in the world, Porsche Cars North America is commemorating this milestone with a 60 unit limited-production run of the Club Coupe based on the 911 Carrera GTS. Known as the GTS Club Coupe, the 430 hp sports car is painted in a color unique to this model appropriately named “Club Blau,” which was created exclusively for this anniversary edition by the Porsche Club of America.

“The Porsche Club of America is home to passionate ambassadors who have been fostering the appreciation and recognition of Porsche for 60 years,” said Andre Oosthuizen, Vice President of Marketing for Porsche Cars North America, as the car was unveiled today at Porsche’s new headquarters at One Porsche Drive in Atlanta. “We are proud and honored to celebrate this anniversary with a very special edition of Porsche's most storied sports car - the 911.”

The GTS Club Coupe features the 44 mm wider body of the 911 Carrera 4 models with a rear wheel drive platform. SportDesign side mirrors, black framed Bi-XenonTM headlights with Porsche’s Dynamic Light System, and taillights tinted in black are standard, while the doors are marked with black “Club Coupe” model designations, clearly distinguishing this unique 911. Painted in the newly created “Club Blau” color, the limited-edition model is also characterized by the SportDesign package, which is fitted as standard. A more pronounced front fascia as well as a “ducktail” rear spoiler gives the special car a striking, yet classic, appearance. 20-inch Sport Classic wheels painted in semi-gloss black with polished wheel centers and rim flanges are also standard on the GTS Club Coupe.

The interior is highlighted by the GTS Interior Package. The stitching, seat belts, and rev counter are held in contrasting Carmine Red, while the dashboard trim strips, door trim and center console are finished in carbon fiber. The striking steering wheel has a Red 12 o’clock marker and two-tone stitching in Carmine Red and Blue. The center compartment lid is embossed with a “60” and the dashboard trim is personalized with “GTS Club Coupe 60 Years Porsche Club of America” lettering above the glove compartment. Stainless steel door sills which read “GTS Club Coupe” serve as a further distinction.

An Extended Club Coupe Package is available as a unique option. It consists of a vehicle key painted in “Club Blau,” a leather key pouch and leather-edged floor mats, both with two-tone stitching in Carmine Red and Blue. An individual personalized indoor car cover is also available as an option.

Powering the GTS Club Coupe is an enhanced version of the Carrera S engine, which is also found in the 911 Carrera GTS model variants. 430 hp propel the GTS Club Coupe from standstill to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds when equipped with the optional PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung) dual-clutch seven-speed transmission. The top track speed is 190 mph (189 mph on PDK-equipped models). A third center radiator ensures consistent performance in all conditions. A standard Sport Exhaust system with black chrome tips accentuates the Boxer engine note in particularly exhilarating fashion.

Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), incorporating adaptive dampers and a 10 mm lower ride, and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), as well as the Sport Chrono Package with dynamic engine mounts, contributes to the car’s optimal handling characteristics.

The GTS Club Coupe will be launched in the United States in June 2015. Porsche Club of America members will have the opportunity to purchase one of 59 vehicles and PCA members will also be eligible to win the initial display vehicle. Official details will be announced February 1st, 2015 on www.pca.org. The MSRP is $136,060, not including a destination charge of $995.

Post Porsche Exclusive Aerokit for 991 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S

From here: Porsche Exclusive 911 Turbo, Turbo S Aerokit Adds Downforce Without Drag

Porsche Exclusive has gone and one-upped the original designers of the 991 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S. A new aerodynamics kit announced today manages to add significant downforce without increasing the car’s stock coefficient of drag.

That considerable feat is accomplished with a front spoiler with winglets, redesigned deck lid, fixed rear spoiler with winglets (in addition to the automatically adjusting rear wing that comes on the car), and a revised rear fascia.

Tuned on the test track at the company’s development center in Weissach as well as in the wind tunnel, the aero kit manages to increase downforce at 186 mph by 37 pounds on the front axle for a total of 57 pounds of downforce, and by 40 pounds on the rear axle for a new of 331 pounds of downforce. The result extra grip should improve high-speed stability and handling.

Available in either the car’s body color or in gloss black, the Porsche Exclusive aerokit can be ordered with a new 911 Turbo or Turbo S ($6,950), or can be retrofitted to existing cars by Porsche Tequipment ($6,886, excluding paint, assembly, and installation).

More details on the GT3 RS...

New details have leaked on the 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS ahead of the car's official unveiling at next month's Geneva Motor Show. The new RS is expected to take a significant leap over the regular GT3 in terms of weight reduction and overall performance.

Thanks to previous spy shots, we already know that the 911 GT3 RS will sport a number of aerodynamic enhancements, including a wide body borrowed from the 911 Turbo, large air scoops, air vents on the front fenders and, of course, a massive rear wing. The 911 GT3 RS also features a wide rear track for added grip, and insiders say the coupe will boast "near race car levels of downforce."

Earlier spy shots show that the interior offers sport seats with the "GT3 RS" logo embroidered in the headrests and a roll cage in lieu of the rear seats, while headroom is increased thanks to a double-bubble roof panel.

Sources close to Porsche have revealed the 911 GT3 RS will use a brand new naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine. According to Autocar, the 911 GT3 RS will develop 494 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque, or roughly 5 percent more power than the outgoing model. Although previous reports indicated that the 911 GT3 RS would be available exclusively with the company's PDK dual-clutch transmission, it now appears likely that a proper manual gearbox will also be on offer.

Porsche's electronic four-wheel steering system will come standard, and the coupe will pack numerous weight-saving components such as a lithium-ion battery and an exhaust system made out of titanium.
Last year, Porsche was forced to recall the standard GT3 due to an engine issue that could lead to a fire, but it looks as though those kinks have been worked out in the GT3 RS. Look for the 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS to debut in about two week's time.

Some tidbits on the GT3 RS...

Having missed its original targeted launch date by more than six months, Porsche’s GT3 RS based on the 991 series of the 911 has finally landed, debuting this week at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. It may be a little late, but Porsche has made up for it with a whole new engine and a simply incredible—for a naturally-aspirated six-cylinder car with rear-wheel drive—Nürburgring lap time of 7:20. To put that achievement into perspective, the new GT3 RS is on pace with Chevrolet’s supercharged ZR1 based on the C6 Corvette and quicker than the previous 911 GT2 RS and Carrera GT supercar.

As expected, the new engine is a 4.0-liter flat-six whose output registers at 493 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The engine, which will eventually be utilized for other 911 variants, most likely with turbochargers added on, rockets the new GT3 RS from 0-62 mph in just 3.3 seconds, sees it pass 124 mph in 10.9 seconds and eventually top out at more than 200 mph.

Helping aid that acceleration is a revised seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and lighter weight. The transmission is said to feature ‘paddle neutral’ declutching and a speed limiter used when entering the pits. The natural home of the GT3 RS, after all, is the race track.

Drive is to the rear wheels only but to aid handling there is a fully variable locking differential benefiting from torque vectoring; the same four-wheel-steering system found on the 911 GT3 and other high-end 911 variants; and the widest tires fitted to any 911 variant. Yes, the car’s track is wider than on the standard GT3, which according to Porsche delivers "even better roll stability" and "even more agile turn-in characteristics.”

The curb weight of the GT3 RS is 3,130 pounds, which is approximately 22 pounds lighter than the already lithe GT3. To get the weight down, the engineers utilized more aluminum for parts of the body and added a magnesium roof to help lower the center of gravity. They also used carbon fiber-reinforced plastic for the engine cover and trunk lid.

On the outside, the GT3 RS is easily recognizable by its huge rear wing, ducktail spoiler, ridge lines running the length of the car, and new vents in the front fenders. The latter is said to boost downforce as well as aid airflow around the brakes. Inside, the car picks up the carbon fiber seats of the 918 Spyder and fitted as standard is Porsche’s Club Sport Package, which includes a roll cage, a six-point safety harness for the driver, a fire extinguisher and preparation for a battery master switch.

A couple things:

1. Page 37 is full of absolute winning.

2. I looooove the way the new targa looks. Such a well done throw back, however, I'm not overly keen on the white pillar. I think body matched or even black would look better.

3. Personally, I love the gold body and clear tails on the 911 Turbo. Not generally a fan (thinking is300- bleh), but yet again somehow Porsche is able to pull it off. The all clear with no visible red in the lights looks well thought out. I bet it looks even better in person. The exhaust pipes look sick on the turbo also.

4. Dat RS what a sick looking car. I have one complaint though- the shifter looks like a massive dildo, LOL.

The great thing about Porsche is you can really taylor-make the car anyway you want it.

This one is even better. It's 11 minutes of the 911 GT3RS driving around the mountains. No music. No speaking. Just the car.
