Press release...

The 911 has been the world's best-selling sports car for decades. Now the new generation has arrived to further extend this lead. With innovative turbo flat engines, an advanced chassis with an even greater spread between performance and comfort and a new infotainment system it is exceedingly well-equipped for this. Thanks to more than four decades of experience with turbo engines – in both motor racing and production sports cars – the new engines in the new 911 Carrera set benchmarks in terms of performance, driving pleasure and efficiency. The rear-axle steering available as an option for the Carrera models for the first time further greatly extends the range of driving dynamics.

Many exterior features of the 911 Carrera have been visually refined: these range from new headlights with four-point daytime running lights to door handles without recess covers, a redesigned rear lid with vertical louvres and new rear lights – including the characteristic four-point brake lights. In the interior the new standard Porsche Communication Management with a multi-touch display offers a considerably expanded range of functions and greatly simplified operation.

New turbocharged engines: 20 hp power increase coupled with lower fuel consumption
The completely new engine generation with bi-turbo charging raises the emotional driving pleasure in the 911 Carrera to an even more intensive experience: 370 hp (272 kW) of power at the rear of the 911 Carrera is waiting to be unleashed and converted into sporty propulsion. The engine in the 911 Carrera S now delivers 420 hp (309 kW). In both cases this represents a power increase of 20 hp (15 kW). Both engines have a displacement of three litres. The greater power of the 911 Carrera S results from turbochargers with modified compressors, a specific exhaust system and tuned engine management.

The new Porsche engines are characterised by significantly increased torque (60 Nm in each case) with maximum torque of 450 Nm and 500 Nm respectively delivered constantly from a low 1,700 rpm up to 5,000 rpm in both cases, thus ensuring excellent driving performance. At the same time with a maximum speed of 7,500 rpm the new engine generation clearly exceeds the top speeds of conventional turbo engines – underscored by the typical sonorous Porsche engine sound.

Every new 911 generation boasts enhanced performance and efficiency compared with the predecessor. For example, depending on the model variant, the new engine generation is almost twelve percent more efficient: fuel consumption is reduced by up to a litre per 100 kilometres. The 911 Carrera with PDK transmission now consumes just 7.4 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres (a reduction of 0.8 l per 100 km), while the 911 Carrera S with PDK consumes 7.7 l/100 km (1.0 l less per 100 km).

The new 911 also boasts impressive performance: the 911 Carrera Coupé with Porsche-Doppelkupplung (PDK) and Sport Chrono Package sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds – making it two tenths of a second faster than its predecessor. The 911 Carrera S with PDK and Sport Chrono Package performs its showcase discipline in just 3.9 seconds (also 0.2 s faster). This means that it is the first 911 in the Carrera family to undercut the magic four second mark. And the top speeds of both models have also increased further: the 911 Carrera now has a top speed of 295 km/h (an increase of six km/h), while the 911 Carrera S now even reaches 308 km/h (an increase of four km/h).

In conjunction with the optional Sport Chrono Package the 911 Carrera now has a mode switch on the steering wheel for the first time, derived from the hybrid mode switch of the 918 Spyder. The mode switch consists of a rotary ring with four positions for the driving modes “Normal”, “Sport”, “Sport Plus” and “Individual”. Depending on the equipment, the latter setting enables drivers to configure their own individual vehicle set-up, for example the PASM, active engine mounts, PDK shifting strategy and sports exhaust system. In combination with PDK transmission the mode switch has an additional button, the “Sport Response Button”. When this button is pressed the drivetrain is pre-conditioned for maximum acceleration for 20 seconds, for example before overtaking manoeuvres. For this, the optimum gear is engaged and the engine management adjusted to an even more spontaneous response for a short time.

A standard feature: reengineered PASM chassis lowers the ride height by ten millimetres
The 911 Carrera is the benchmark for driving dynamics of all-round sports cars. With every new generation Porsche further increases the spread between everyday comfort and circuit performance. For the first time, the new PASM chassis (Porsche Active Suspension Management), which lowers the ride height by ten millimetres, is a standard feature on board all Carrera models. It further improves stability during fast cornering. At the same time the new shock absorber generation with its wider spread characteristics enhance comfort thanks to an even more precise response characteristic and also improve the body connection during dynamic driving. New standard wheels with five slim twin spokes carry tyres with reduced rolling resistance and enhanced performance. Furthermore, on all variants the width of the rear rims has increased by 0.5 to 11.5 inches and the rear tyres of the 911 Carrera S now measure 305 instead of 295 millimetres.

The active rear-axle steering that is available as an option for the 911 Carrera S is chassis technology adopted from the 911 Turbo and 911 GT3. It further enhances the turn-in behaviour of the 911. In addition, it makes for high driving stability when changing lanes at high speeds. At the same time it ensures greater manoeuvrability in city traffic thanks to the turning circle reduced by 0.4 metres. The improved handling is transmitted to the driver via the new steering wheel generation with a design based on the steering wheel of the 918 Spyder. The basic steering wheel has a diameter of 375 millimetres; the optional GT sports steering wheel measures 360 millimetres. For unlimited everyday practicality Porsche offers a hydraulic lift system with integrated lifting cylinders in the struts of the front axle. Pressing a button increases the ground clearance at the front by 40 millimetres within 5 seconds and thus prevents the vehicle underbody from hitting the ground, for example on steep garage exits.

New Porsche Communication Management including online navigation

A standard feature of the new 911 Carrera models is the newly developed Porsche Communication Management System (PCM) including online navigation module and voice control. The PCM can be operated by performing multi-touch gestures on the seven-inch display, similar to operating a smartphone. User inputs by handwriting are possible, for instance. Mobile phones and smartphones can now also be connected via Wi-Fi. The smartphone tray being integrated for the first time in the centre armrest also offers battery-saving charging and optimised mobile phone reception. Also new is the option of connecting an iPhone to the PCM to use Apple CarPlay.

Real-time traffic information is available for significantly improved navigation. It gives the driver a quick overview of the traffic situation and guarantees dynamic adaptation of the route to this information. Google Earth and Google Streetview are also being integrated for the first time to offer better orientation. Other components of the PCM are Porsche Car Connect and the Porsche Connect app, which can be used for such functions as remote control of vehicle functions, transfer of destinations to the PCM for navigation and use of music streaming services by third-party providers via the PCM.

New and extended optional assistance systems

The 911 Carrera can now be customised even more precisely according to personal preferences with further new and improved assistance systems: the optional automatic speed control can now also brake moderately when the pre-set speed is exceeded, for example when driving downhill. The Adaptive Cruise Control ACC (option) now has a coasting function in conjunction with a PDK transmission. When driving in a queue the clutches are disengaged, thus saving fuel with unpowered coasting. The optional lane change assistant monitors traffic behind with radar and uses LED lamps in the left and right of the mirror triangle to warn the driver about approaching vehicles in the blind spot. In addition, Porsche increases the active safety of the sports car with the post-collision braking system as a standard feature.

Post Porsche 911 Carerra GTS Rennsport Reunion Edition

From here: Porsche Unveils Very Limited 911 Carerra GTS Rennsport Reunion Edition

To coincide with the fifth annual Porsche Rennsport Reunion, held from the 25th to the 27th at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Porsche today unveiled a limited edition model inspired by the event. The 2016 Porsche 911 Carerra GTS Rennsport Reunion Edition is limited to just 25 examples, all of which will be sold in North America.

The Rennsport Reunion Edition starts with the bundle of options from the GTS model and adds a gray, black, and red color scheme inside and out. The exterior's Fashion Gray paint is offset by black and red decals on the hood, roof, decklid, and doors, the latter with Porsche lettering. The 20-inch wheels are painted high-gloss black, and so are the lower portions of the side mirrors and the satellite radioantenna. The LED headlights also have black accents.

Inside, model designation logos appear on the carbon fiber dashboard above the glove compartment and on the carbon fiber illuminated door-sill guards. The stitching on the SportDesign steering wheel, door panel trim, dashboard trim, floor mats, and GTS logo headrests is Carmine Red, a color also used for the tachometer and seat belts. The Rennsport Reunion V logo is embossed on the center console. The Fashion Grey paint appears on the key, and Porsche Exclusive, the bespoke arm of Porsche responsible for the car, is also providing a leather key pouch with Carmine Red accents and “911 Carrera GTS Rennsport Reunion Edition” lettering.

Like other GTS models, the Rennsport Edition comes standard with 18-way adaptive sport seats, the PASM sport suspension, a Bose audio system, and rear parking sensors, among a host of other features. It is offered only with the 430-horsepower 3.8-liter flat six and seven-speed manual transmission. This limited edition car goes on sale immediately for a price of $149,330.

Post 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera & Targa 4

Press release...

A sports car with all-wheel drive is the first choice for more than one in three Porsche 911 buyers. With the new 911 Carrera 4 and 911 Targa 4, they now profit from an increase in sporting characteristics and comfort in the latest 911 generation: the innovative turbocharged engines are more powerful and consume less, with the improved all-wheel drive increasing dynamics and driving safety. In addition, the adaptive PASM chassis (Porsche Active Suspension Management) with its ten-millimetre lower ride height included as standard enables an even greater spread between sporty circuit and relaxed long-distance driving. Rear-axle steering that is available as an option for the Carrera 4S models further increases the dynamic spectrum considerably. Interior functionality is enhanced by the standard-feature Porsche Communication (PCM) connectivity and infotainment system with simplified operation and multi-touch display.

The all-wheel drive models not only include the numerous optical refinements of the new 911 Carrera generation but also have their own individual distinguishing characteristics. For instance, the light strip between the rear lights now produces an especially distinctive effect thanks to its consciously three-dimensional design. When switched on, the light reinforces the impression of depth. The light strip also underlines the typical format of the all-wheel drive 911, with rear wings that arch further outwards by 44 millimetres in total, as in previous models. Additional distinguishing features of the new 911 generation range from the headlights with four-point daytime running lights, via door handles without recess covers, to the redesigned rear lid with vertical louvres and new rear lights – including the characteristic four-point brake lights.

New developments in the visual appearance also underline the sophisticated elegance of the 911 Targa. With its individual design, the new 911 Targa continues to stand out clearly from the coupé and cabriolet. It spectacularly combines the classic Targa idea with advanced roof convenience. Like the legendary original Targa, it has the characteristic wide bar in place of B pillars, a removable roof section over the front seats and a wrap-around rear window without C pillars. The roof segment can be opened and closed at the push of a button, with the soft top being accommodated behind the rear seats as it opens.

Faster sprinting with up to twelve per cent less fuel consumption

Behind the re-engineered flat engines are more than four decades of Porsche experience with turbocharged engines from motor racing and production sports car. The result is that all new 911 Carrera models impress with top values in terms of performance, driving fun and efficiency. Thanks to bi-turbocharging, the three-litre, six-cylinder engines in the 911 Carrera 4 and 911 Targa 4 achieve an output of 370 hp (272 kW) and a torque of 450 Nm, while output in the S models increases to 420 hp (309 kW) and torque to 500 Nm. This gives the driver an added bonus of 20 hp (15 kW) of dynamic performance to convert into driving fun. The greater power of the Carrera S models comes from turbochargers with modified compressors, a specific exhaust system and tuned engine management.

In combination with the now electro-hydraulically controlled all-wheel drive, the 911 Carrera 4 for the first time even achieves better acceleration values than its rear-wheel-drive counterparts. Equipped with the options of PDK and Sport Chrono package, the 911 Carrera 4 sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds (0.4 seconds less than its predecessor model), with the S model registering 3.8 seconds (0.3 seconds less). The cabriolet S and the 911 Targa 4 with comparable equipment need just 0.2 seconds longer – the time it takes to blink. Top speeds vary according to model and equipment between 287 km/h and 305 km/h.

Traditionally, every new generation of engines from Porsche combines more output with less consumption. Consequently, fuel consumption in the 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet with PDK drops by 0.8 litres to 7.9 l/100 km. The models with the most significant improvements are the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet and 911 Targa 4S, each with PDK, in which average consumption falls by 1.2 litres to 8.0 l/100km.

Inherited from the 918 Spyder: Sport Chrono package with mode switch

In conjunction with the optional Sport Chrono Package, the new 911 models now have a mode switch on the steering wheel for the first time, which has been derived from the 918 Spyder hybrid supercar. The mode switch consists of a rotary ring with four positions for the driving modes “Normal”, “Sport”, “Sport Plus” and “Individual”. Using the latter setting, drivers can configure their own individual vehicle set-up, allowing them to adjust, for example, PASM, active engine mounts, PDK shifting strategy and sports exhaust system if fitted. In combination with the PDK transmission, the mode switch has an additional control, called the “Sport Response Button”. When this button is pressed, the drivetrain is pre-conditioned for maximum acceleration for 20 seconds, for example in order to carry out overtaking manoeuvres. For this purpose, the optimum gear is engaged and the engine management adjusted to an even more spontaneous response for a short time.

Re-engineered PASM chassis with ten millimetre lower ride height as standard

A Porsche 911 with all-wheel drive stands for the commendable combination of traction and driving safety with sporty driving performance. In this new generation, Porsche reconciles these contrasts even further. Firstly, the electro-hydraulically controlled all-wheel drive responds with even more speed and sensitivity thanks to the technology adopted from the 911 Turbo. This especially enhances directional stability during extremely sporty driving without sacrificing any agility. Harmony between the re-engineered all-wheel drive and the retuned PASM chassis with its ten-millimetre lower ride height is thus even better. It is fitted as standard to all Carrera models and increases stability during fast cornering. At the same time, the new shock absorber generation with its wider spread characteristics enhances comfort thanks to its even more refined responsiveness, yet it also improves car body control during dynamic driving.

The active rear-axle steering that is available as an option for the Carrera S marks the adoption of chassis technology from the 911 Turbo and 911 GT3. It increases the turn-in agility of the 911. In addition, it leads to even higher driving stability when changing lanes at high speeds. At the same time, it ensures greater manoeuvrability in city traffic thanks to the 0.4-metre reduction in turning circle. The improved handling is transmitted to the driver via the new steering wheel generation with a design based on that found in the 918 Spyder. The basic steering wheel has a diameter of 375 millimetres; the optional GT sports steering wheel measures 360 millimetres. For unlimited everyday practicality, Porsche supplies a hydraulic lift system with integrated lifting cylinders in the struts of the front axle. Pressing a button increases the ground clearance at the front spoiler lip by 40 millimetres within five seconds and thus prevents the vehicle underbody from hitting the ground, such as when negotiating steep garage exits.

Connectivity and infotainment system: PCM with multi-touch display and new functions

The completely new PCM connectivity and infotainment system included as a standard feature integrates new functions around the multi-touch display in the centre console that now has a seven-inch format. Also fitted as standard, the navigation system can be operated like a smartphone and can even process handwritten input. Drivers can access real-time traffic information, which allows them to gain an overview of the traffic situation in their area and on their route. In addition, mobile phones and smartphones can now be integrated more quickly, easily and extensively than before via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or cable. This means that both vehicle-related services such as remote retrieval of vehicle data and also Internet-based services such as Google Street View and Internet radio are available. These services are being constantly expanded and improved.

The new Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and 911 Targa 4 will be launched in Germany as from the end of January 2016 at the following prices including VAT and country-specific equipment:

911 Carrera 4 103,983 euros
911 Carrera 4S 118,144 euros
911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet 117,073 euros
911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet 131,234 euros
911 Targa 4 117,073 euros
911 Targa 4S 131,234 euros

Information on the Turbo...

Porsche has slowly been introducing updated versions of its 911 family, with most of the cars now featuring turbocharged engines—previously a bragging right of the actual ‘Turbo’ models only. However, to ensure that the 911 Turbo models still reign supreme, they’ve been given a power boost that sees them encroach on supercar territory.

For the 2017 model year, both the 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S stick with twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six engines but now output registers at 540 horsepower and 580 hp respectively. That represents a 20-hp bump in power for each compared to the previous model. Torque, meanwhile, registers at 523 pound-feet in the Turbo and 553 lb-ft in the Turbo S (with overboost).

Modifications made to the engine include new intake ports in the cylinder heads, new fuel injectors, and higher fuel pressure. There’s also a new dynamic boost function that improves throttle response by maintaining the boost pressure even when the driver lifts off the gas pedal slightly. This ensures that the engine is always on the boil during spirited driving.

With a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, all-wheel drive and the Sport Chrono Package all as standard, the Turbo S will now sprint to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, 0.1 of a second quicker than before. The Turbo will achieve the same feat in 2.9 seconds. The respective top speeds are 205 mph and 198 mph.

Beyond extra power, the Turbo S provides a few extra benefits over the Turbo. Items include an anti-roll system, carbon-ceramic brakes, two-tone leather seats, 18-way adjustable seats, carbon fiber interior trim, LED headlights and unique side mirror caps. New options for both the Turbo and Turbo S include lane change assist and a front axle lift system.

In the cabin, the cars get the sports steering wheel from the 918 Spyder supercar. This features a rotary dial that allows you to switch between the Normal, Sport, Sport Plus, or Individual modes for controlling dynamic settings such as the shift times, throttle response and suspension damping. A black button in the center of the dial turns everything to the max.

As in all the updated 911 models, the cars also get the new PCM with navigation infotainment system. This is controlled by a 7.0-inch touchscreen display in the center console. The system responds to handwritten inputs, offers real-time traffic information, has 360-degree images and satellite images, and enables numerous connectivity options including Wi-Fi.

On the outside, you’ll spot a redesigned front with side air blades and a new design for the daytime running lights. At the rear, the bumper, exhaust tips and engine cover have all been redesigned. The tail lights have also been given a tweak and the standard 20-inch wheels have received new patterns. As before, the Turbo S can be distinguished by stainless steel exhaust tips in black chrome, while the Turbo is fitted with those in high gloss chrome.

The 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo range will make its official world debut next month at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. The cars should reach showrooms by next April. The pricing, including Porsche’s standard $995 destination charge, is as follows:

2017 Porsche 911 Turbo: $160,195
2017 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet: $172,495
2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S: $189,095
2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet: $201,395

I realize the Turbo is insanely quick, but I'd rather have the GT3 or GT3 RS for that money.

Post 2016 Porsche 911 Turbo & Turbo S

Press release...

At the start of 2016 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Porsche is presenting another highlight of its product range. The top models of the 911 model series – the 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S – now boast 15 kW (20 hp) more power, a sharpened design and improved features. The models will be available in both coupe and convertible versions from the start. The bi-turbo six-cylinder engine in the 911 Turbo with 3.8 litres of displacement now has a power output of 397 kW (540 hp). This power gain was achieved by modified inlet ports in the cylinder head, new injection nozzles and higher fuel pressure. The 911 Turbo S now develops 427 kW (580 hp) thanks to new turbochargers with larger compressors. Porsche is still the only manufacturer to utilise turbochargers with variable turbine geometry in petrol engines.

The engines now also have what is known as a dynamic boost function to further improve engine response in dynamic operation. It maintains the charge pressure during load changes – i.e. when the accelerator pedal is released briefly. This is achieved by just interrupting fuel injection, whereas the throttle valve remains open. As a result, the engine reacts with practically no delay to another press of the accelerator pedal. The effects of this function are more pronounced in the Sport and Sport Plus modes than in Normal mode.

Overall, the new high-performance sports cars attain breathtaking driving performance, while fuel consumption is reduced even further. The 911 Turbo S Coupé sprints to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. Its top speed of 330 km/h is twelve km/h higher than before. The 911 Turbo reaches the 100-km/h mark in 3.0 seconds, and its top speed is 320 km/h – five km/h faster than the previous model. Nevertheless, the coupes only consume 9.1 l/100 km, and the convertibles 9.3 l/100 km. This represents 0.6 litres less fuel per 100 km for all versions. The reason for this is further advanced electronic engine and transmission management with revised gear change mappings.

A standard feature: Sport Chrono Package with mode switch and Sport Re-sponse button.

The new GT sport steering wheel – 360 mm in diameter and with a design adopted from the 918 Spyder – comes with what is known as a mode switch as standard. It consists of a rotary ring with stepped positions that is used to select one of the four modes Normal, Sport, Sport Plus or Individual. The Individual setting lets the driver configure and store a very individual vehicle setup. Another new feature of the Sport Chrono Package is the Sport Response button at the centre of the mode switch. Inspired by motor racing, it preconditions the engine and gearbox for the best possible responsiveness at the push of a button. In this state, the vehicle can produce optimal acceleration for up to 20 seconds, such as for an overtaking manoeuvre. An indicator in the instrument cluster in the form of a running timer shows the driver the elapsed time. Sport Response functionality can be called up as often as desired and from any of the driving modes.

Porsche Stability Management (PSM) in the 911 Turbo models now has a new PSM Sport Mode. A brief press of the PSM button on the centre console puts the system in a very sporty mode – which is independent of the driving programme that is se-lected. The separately switched PSM Sport mode alters the PSM’s intervention threshold much more than was the case in Sport Plus mode of the previous model. The new mode makes it possible to approach performance limits even more closely – e.g. on a circuit racetrack. In this mode, the PSM warning lamp lights up, and a message in the instrument cluster indicates that the PSM system's contribution toward driving stability is limited. However, PSM still remains active in background, even in the PSM Sport mode. A long press of the PSM button, though, completely deactivates PSM, as usual.

911 Turbo S has full set of driving dynamic features

The chassis of the new 911 Turbo models with PASM as standard now offers an even greater spread between performance and comfort. In addition, the 911 Turbo S offers a full complement of equipment for driving dynamics: PDCC roll compensation is standard as is the PCCB ceramic brake system. New options for all 911 Turbo models include the radar-based lane change assist and a lift system for the front axle that can be used to increase ground clearance by 40 mm at the front spoiler lip at low speeds.

Sharpened design with new characteristics

Naturally, the new generation 911 Turbo adopts significant characteristics of the striking design of today’s Carrera models, supplemented by typical 911 Turbo special features. The newly formed front end with side airblades and precisely laid out narrow LED front lights with double fillets give the front end a wider look in combination with the additional fin in the central air intake. In a side view, the high-performance sports car boasts new 20-inch wheels. On the 911 Turbo S, for instance, the centre lock wheels now feature seven instead of ten double spokes. Also new are the wheel dimensions for the 911 Turbo: with 9 J x 20 at the front and 11.5 J x 20 at the rear, the new wheels are now each half an inch wider. They are now the same size as the wheels of the 911 Turbo S. The new door handles now come without plastic shell inserts – just like on the Carrera models. The rear body was also thoroughly reworked. Eye-catching at first glance are the three-dimensional rear lights with their four-point brake lights and aura-like illumination, familiar from the 911 Carrera series. The exit openings for the exhaust system at the rear as well as the dual tailpipes were redesigned. The rear lid grille was also redesigned, and it now features three parts: the right and left sections have longitudinal louvres, and in the middle there is a separate cover for optimised air induction for the engine.

New Porsche Communication Management with online navigation

Along with the generation change in models, the newly developed infotainment sys-tem, PCM with online navigation, is making its way into the cockpits of the 911 Turbo models as standard. This system can be made out by a multi-touch monitor with high-quality glass surface, which is perfectly integrated into the centre console, and it offers numerous new and extended connectivity functions thanks to the standard Connect Plus module. Navigation can also access the latest traffic information in real time. Routes and places can be visualised with 360-degree images and satellite images. In addition, the system can now process handwritten inputs. Moreover, mobile phones and smartphones can now be integrated more quickly, easily and comprehensively than before via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or cable. Select vehicle functions can now be controlled remotely as well. As in the previous models, the Bose sound system is offered as standard; a Burmester system can be delivered as an option.

I prefer the cleaner lines of the pre MMC 991 and would totally hit a 911R, just not at the price they are expected to be released at. Doesn't matter anyway if its already pre-sold out. I hate the marketing bastards at Porsche.

The Porsche 911 R will be offered exclusively with a new six-speed manual transmission and the same 475-hp, naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six from the GT3. Key markers of the R model are its triple nasal breathing ducts, GT2-style bonnet, massively flared wheelhouses in the rear, and bespoke 21-inch aluminum wheels, not to mention a front aero splitter, rocker sills, and a rear aero diffuser. The 911 R’s electrically activated rear spoiler deploys only when required, the rear bumper accommodates two large center-mounted tailpipes, and available extras include carbon-ceramic brakes and a full Clubsport package. The 911 R’s production run is limited to 600 pieces. Although the steep asking price is said to be more than $160,000, the entire run has already sold out.

Reports of a 911 R on the web. Supposedly a 911 GT3RS without the aero bits and a manual transmission. Thought to be offered first to 918 Spyder customers and if any are left over, to select customers. Rumors of the 911 GT3RS 4.0L engine in the car with all the mechanicals but without the wing and front splitter.
