The next Cayman S is going to be bonkers. Love this new styling direction even though some are saying MR2 Spyder front and Eclipse rear.

Revealed: 2013 Porsche Boxster

I'm surprised no one has posted this yet.

The redesigned 2013 Porsche Boxster and Boxster S go on sale in U.S. in mid-summer, with new sheet metal and more powerful engines. Stickers in the U.S. will start at $50,450 for the Boxster and $61,850 for the Boxster S. Prices include a $950 shipping charge.

Porsche said the third-generation models will be powered by direct-injection flat-6 engines that can be coupled with either a standard six-speed manual gearbox or the PDK seven-speed double-clutch gearbox.

The standard 2013 Boxster gets a 2.7-liter flat-6 to replace the previous 2.9-liter unit, with output rising from 255 to 261 horsepower. Output on the 3.4-liter six in the Boxster S is nudged slightly from 310 to 311 hp. Porsche says the standard Boxster will accelerate from 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, while the Boxster S will perform the same function in 4.7 seconds. The optional Sport Chrono package provides even better performance and driving dynamics.

A start-stop system and other tweaks also mean the engines will deliver up to 15 percent better fuel economy.

The 2013 Boxster gets new sheet metal, a new power-operated top that stows neatly behind the seats and a revised cockpit with more space for driver and passenger.

The chassis has been redesigned, and the car features lower weight, a longer wheelbase, wider track and larger wheels, as well as a new electromechanical power steering system.

I saw a pic of a red Porsche at the recent auto show, and for a second I thought it was the new VW Bug convertible.

I would. I'm thinking about trading the E36 for a Gen 1 Audi TT and if I do, I really don't care if it's a chick car

I've seen women in the 370Z, Audi TT-S, Corvette Z06, Audi S5, etc. I would drive any of them in a heartbeat.

My girlfriend's dad has one. Red on black convertible 6-speed. It looks totally stock but he has all sorts of stuff done to the engine. That thing flies!

Anyways, I'm glad to see the Boxster looking the way it does. Love it.

+1

i don't understand the bashing of the Boxter as a "chick" car. Or how driving one makes one less manly.

I'd drive one in a heartbeat. The Boxter beats the piss out of anything H/A puts out.

Not interested in the Miata. Too small. I don't feel safe in it.

Dunno....but out here the ratio is like 10:1 of females driving these versus males.

It's just like the Merc. SLK...same thing...chicks drive 'em.

Chicks have good taste in cars out there.

I'd take the new Boxter in a NY minute.

They seem to like compact convertibles and coupes, as well as some small sedans. Explains why there tends to be more females driving SLKs, TTs, IS 250s, Mini Coopers, etc. I don't see too many female Boxster drivers here though.

It's funny how much better the car looks with the spoiler partially painted in body colour. Kinda reminds me of the 4G TL's painted beak, although this looks much better of course.

...but in all seriousness plenty of dudes driving MINI.....but honestly on a very rare occasion I will see a guy driving a Boxster or a SLK.

Maybe it's a SoCal thing, but it's always women driving Boxsters.

Leave it to Top Gear to comment on the Boxster.

Jeremy: No, you see I had one last week: Boxster S, new car, fantastic really, the most beautifully balanced... I felt like a prat.

It's funny that:

With roof - Great driver's car, average man's 911
Without roof - Did your husband teach you to drive stick?
