Some tidbits on the Huayra R...

Pagani’s planned 100-car production run for the Huayra will soon come to an end (all 100 build slots are already sold), after which the company will turn its attention to an open-top Huayra Roadster that will also be built in a limited run of 100 cars. However, we could see a more hardcore version of the Huayra coupe along the way, as indicated by this prototype spotted near Germany’s Nürburgring.

Compared to the current Huayra, which made its debut back in 2011, the prototype appears to be wearing a new front splitter, larger diameter exhaust pipes and some bright green brake calipers. The prototype is also covered in QR codes, which when scanned lead to a video with the message “to be continued”.

About a year ago, reports emerged claiming Pagani was planning a hardcore Huayra dubbed the Nürburgring Edition, similar to how the previous Zonda had its own hardcore Zonda R variant. Around the same time, a Huayra test mule was spotted outside Mercedes-AMG’s headquarters in Affalterbach, Germany (seen in earlier shots), which makes sense as Mercedes-AMG supplies Pagani with engines, including the bespoke twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 engine that powers the Huayra.

The engine is currently rated at 720 horsepower, but with rival supercars such as the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Koenigsegg Agera RS all developing in excess of 900 horses, the Pagani’s numbers are starting to look a little feeble. Even higher volume models like the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SuperVeloce are producing more power than the Huayra.

This means we can expect more power for the hardcore Huayra. Look for an announcement or reveal either at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September or the Geneva Motor Show next March.

Pagani has some busy months ahead of it. In addition to wrapping up production of the current Huayra, the company is readying a new state-of-the-art factory near its current workshop in San Cesario sul Panaro, Italy. The new factory is expected to be ready in September and will likely start off producing this hardcore Huayra or the aforementioned Huayra Roadster.

Post "BC" Version

So, the "R" version spied is to be called the "BC"...

Pagani is working on a new Huayra variant, as evidenced by the handful of prototypes spotted across Europe in 2015. This week, the Italian supercar marque dropped the first teaser shot which shows the massive rear wing previously seen on a prototype testing hard at the San Martino del Lago race track in Italy’s north.

With the regular Huayra now embarrassingly outpaced by rivals, it makes sense that Pagani will want to offer a more potent version. Expect power from the car’s twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 engine to be increased beyond the regular Huayra’s 720 horsepower. Meanwhile, new aerodynamic elements such as the aforementioned rear wing plus an extended front splitter should help boost downforce.

In addition to the teaser, Pagani left the message, “2016 is coming.” The automaker also left the social media tag “#‎huayrabc,” perhaps hinting that the new Huayra variant will wear a “BC” badge.

We’ll have more details soon as Pagani will most likely be unveiling the car at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in early March.

From here: Pagani Huayra BC Revealed, Honors The Late Benny Caiola

Pagani is introducing its first update to the Huayra since the car made its debut in 2011. The update is in the form of a new special edition model that Pagani will buildin a limited run of just 20 cars, all of which are already accounted for in case you were wondering. The car is called the Huayra BC, with the “BC” honoring the late Benny Caiola.

Caiola passed away in 2010 at the age of 79. He was born in Italy but moved to the United States when he was just 17. He built up a fortune over the years thanks to his property development business but his real passion was in cars, particularly those from his homeland. Caiola was the very first customer of Pagani and he was also a great inspiration for Pagani founder Horacio Pagani.

We’re sure if he were alive today he would have been impressed with Pagani’s efforts in developing the Huayra BC. For starters, the car is Pagani’s most powerful road car to date. It features the familiar twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 sourced from Mercedes-AMG, but the output has been dialed up to 789 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque. That’s up on the regular Huayra’s 720 hp and 738 lb-ft.

The car also benefits from a new seven-speed automated manual transmission from Xtrac. The unit features electro-hydraulic actuation and carbon-fiber synchronizers and is said to shift gears twice as fast as the unit in the regular Huayra. We’re talking just 75 milliseconds here. That may not be as quick as some of the top dual-clutch units, which can change gears in around 50 ms, but according to Pagani its transmission is significantly lighter. The car has a dry weight of 2,685 lb, which incredibly is close to 300 lb lighter than the regular Huayra.

Of course, there are also those unmistakable aerodynamic mods. Aimed mostly at increasing downforce, there are modifications found on every inch of the body apart from the roof of the car. The list includes new splitters, intakes and air channels plus that huge wing at the rear. The modifications were developed with Italian race car constructor Dallara and like some other parts of the body are made from a new type of carbon fiber Pagani says is around 50 percent lighter and 20 percent stronger than conventional carbon fiber.

Given the combination of more power, more downforce and less weight, the Huayra BC should be putting down some impressive performance numbers. The regular Huayra hits 62 mph from rest in 3.2 seconds and tops out at close to 230 mph. Expect the Huayra BC to improve on those figures.

As mentioned, just 20 will be built. The starting price, though meaningless since all the cars are accounted for, is a cool 2.3 million euros (approximately $2.55 million). Once complete, Pagani is expected to start production of its long-awaited Huayra Roadster. We hear that there'll also be a BC version of the open-top car.

The Huayra BC makes its world debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

No, I actually have multiple legitimate sources to confirm.
If I get lucky enough to see it when he takes delivery next year, photos will definitely follow. With whatever requisite butter/waffles/bacon I can find at the time.
