And this new Sentra which continues the design language is WAY superior to the current Sentra (had one as a rental for about month) and looks better than the civic or corrola that are currently on the road.
IMHO, the G35C has a more appealing look than the G37S coupe. Interior not withstanding, I'm considering one as weekend ride to supplement the MDX and Accord.

Wow, you couldn't be more in the minority on that. Sales of their vehicles and reviews would say otherwise. The majority love their new designs in regards to bodystyle, especially Nissan. In fact, they had a better design rating than both Toyota and Honda.

5:13PM EST October 1. 2012 - Nissan says the redesigned 2013 Sentra compact sedan will start at $16,770, including $780 shipping, for the base S with six-speed manual when it hits dealerships Oct. 16, a drop of $260 from the current base model.

Top model, the SR with CVT (continuously variable-ratio automatic transmission), starts at $20,540.

The mpg special, called, of course, FE, starts at $18,440, or $400 more than the similar non-FE version. FE is rated 40 mpg on the highway, barely more than non-FE models' 39 mpg.

The new Sentra is slightly larger, and has a bigger trunk, but weighs 5% less, the automaker says. That's why, Nissan says, it can get by with a smaller, less-powerful engine.

The 2013 uses a 1.8-liter four-cylinder rated 130 horsepower, 128 pounds-feet of torque. The 2012 has a 2-liter four, rated 140 hp, 147 lbs.-ft. The new, less-powerful engine is rated 34 mpg in combined city/highway driving, Nissan says, a 13% improvement over the previous model.

Creating a competitive new compact sedan in the US is perhaps the hardest chore that big automakers face today. Shoppers in this slice of the market really do require a single vehicle that will do just about everything for them: get great fuel economy, give a comfortable and confident ride, have a usable back seat with plenty of cargo space, offer an abundance of techy bells and whistles. At the top-spec levels, today's compacts face competition from entry-level midsizers, while at the bottom end they must compete with smaller, often more efficient sub-compacts that are better now than they ever have been in our country.

Further complicating things, this is a segment that still holds a lot of performance promise for Gen X and Gen Y buyers. More than a few of these 20- and 30-somethings found their first motoring thrills at the wheel of a Civic Si, Cobalt SS, Jetta GLI or, pertinently, a Sentra SE-R. Being able to feel that warmed-up-performance lineage could be the difference for a section of shoppers here.

Finally, and undoubtedly most important, every 1 of the new breed of compact competitors must offer easy-to-define value to this ultra-price-sensitive segment. Comparing base-specification MSRPs isn't going to cut it, as a transmission choice here and navigation package there can quickly raise your bottom line from $18,000 to $26,000 and more.

Like most of the competitive set, the 2013 Nissan Sentra makes its first play for conquest customers with completely revised sheetmetal. And, while the very general proportions have carried over from the 6th to this new 7th-generation Sentra – the stubby, wide nose and abbreviated trunk lid are both familiar – this new car looks very little like its sharply creased predecessor. If we're blunt, we don't care much for what the designers have done. The rounded, pugnacious front end gives the Sentra added visual height from the front view, while the high beltline and bulging character line do the same for the profile view. In total, despite the fact that this Sentra is just a little bit lower and longer than the last model, it looks altogether more top-heavy.

You'll have ample opportunity to peep the new design for yourself and make up your own mind about the aesthetic plusses and minuses of this Sentra, but suffice it to say that we found the car distinctly less attractive the first time we saw it in person, rather than in photographs.

Nissan has done a good job increasing the interior volume of the new car, especially if the bit that you care about is in the backseat. That back section, with seating for 3 abreast, is as capacious as we've seen in the segment to date. (Note that, as with the Hyundai Elantra, for instance, the interior volume of the Sentra is actually large enough that the EPA classifies it as a midsize, rather than compact, sedan.) Room up front is about average for the class, however. Drivers more than 6 feet tall are going to wish that Nissan had made the front-seat rails go back another inch. What's more, on models with the powered sunroof, tall folks (like your author) will wish that the seat bottom moved down another click or 2.

We were able to snag a top-spec Sentra SL for this 1st Drive report, so we really did get the best that the model has to offer in terms of interior amenities and creature comforts. Adding the Leather (which also adds rear disc brakes, oddly), Premium and Navigation packages ensured that we wouldn't go without 2-stage heated front seats, Bose audio, a 5.8-inch infotainment screen with backup camera, that powered sunroof and a few more odds and ends. Overall the SL felt like a very complete, well-screwed-together cabin with respectable material quality as well as fit and finish (especially considering we had a pre-production model).

Some noticeable detractors from the experience were the regrettable wood trim pieces on the center tunnel and the doors, as well as an overly large, thin-rimmed steering wheel that felt as if it were sized for a pickup rather than a compact car. Thankfully, we know that other Sentra trim levels do away with the wood bits – the steering wheel is just something we'd have to live with. Our predilection would be for a set of front seats with larger side bolsters than these very flat Sentra seats offered, though we must admit that the cushions felt nicely padded for long-range cruising.

Another huge and frankly really surprising plus to the driving experience is the exceptionally well-managed noise, vibration and harshness. We only really noticed the car's exhaust note when we were accelerating hard – where the Continuously Variable Transmission causes a 1-note drone that sets our teeth on edge. When keeping a steady throttle, even at highway speeds up to 80 miles per hour, the Sentra was remarkably still. Just bit of wind rush from the side-view mirrors interrupted the quite-cruise nature here. We'd have to do an honest comparison test to tell you for sure, but our memories of the Elantra, Focus, Civic, Mazda3 and the rest are not nearly so refined in terms of cabin volume.

The new Sentra's ride quality was nearly as impressive as its noise, vibration and harshness tuning, as here again the Nissan made a passable impression of a larger, more expensive vehicle. Suspension compliance over potholes and such was excellent; the Sentra's primary ride was rarely upset by a cracked bit of asphalt or even some washboard-like sections we found on an unpaved back road. At the same time, this rough-road mitigation didn't come at the expense of float over larger swales or small hills when taken at speed, nor did it mean that the Sentra exhibited a lot of lean in aggressive cornering. In fact, whether we were just kicking back on the highway or pushing the car pretty hard on a fun road, the Sentra's suspension kept the wheels firmly planted on the road, with not much kickback in the steering or through the seats.

This fine balance shouldn't be confused with an overly sporting character overall, however. This model does not hit a lot of high points for enthusiast drivers, despite its well-judged ride and handling balance.

For instance, the steering, while not what we'd call over-boosted, is pretty lazy for what we've come to expect from the Sentra nameplate. (Going back to our earlier point, this isn't the car that will reinstall the glory of the B13 SE-R.) At moderate speeds on gently curved roads, this rack does just fine. But if you increase either the pace of driving or the complexity of the corners, you soon find the steering feedback insufficient to make out how much grip is left, and the response time from input to reaction is far too slow to make the Sentra feel light on its feet. Blame some of this lethargy on the extended wheelbase and slower rotational ability of this larger car. But the truth is that sharper sedans, like the Focus or Mazda3, feel more athletic than does this Nissan.

And, of course, the combination of Nissan's 1.8-liter 4-cylinder and its revised continuously variable transmission hugely colors our impressions of the vehicle. The new engine is thoroughly more efficient and has a higher specific output than the old Sentra's 2.0-liter mill, though with just 130 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque it doesn't get the car moving with any sense of urgency. Likewise, the CVT has been enhanced with a sub-planetary gear and smaller pulleys, aimed at better low-down response and improved high-speed fuel economy, but without doing much for driving satisfaction.

We'll buy the story that this trans is smoother overall, with more pop at low speeds than the last 1, but it remains far from an engaging item for anyone who cares about the joy of driving. Nissan has gone so far as to attempt to vary the driving character a bit, offering a Sport and Eco button to increase or decrease throttle keenness, but the primary result of selecting 1 or the other seems to be the volume at which the engine drones at half-open throttle.

Nissan does offer a 6-speed manual gearbox for the base Sentra S, which we have yet to drive, but the vast majority of Sentra buyers will end up with the CVT. And that's okay, because as long as you disabuse yourself of any notion of this Sentra as a driver's car, you'll see that it scores highly on the most important of our initial judging criteria: value.

Yep, like the Versa before it, Nissan is absolutely making a play to have this Sentra be the content-per-dollar champ of the key compact segment. Our kitted-out SL carried an as-tested price of $23,420 – that's about $3k worth of options after you figure a post-destination and handling MSRP of $20,540. For the sake of argument, we spec'd out some of the mainstream competitor cars in a similar fashion, to see what we could discover. (Note that we were trying to configure each model with the same automatic transmission, leather seating, larger wheels, navigation and premium audio as our Sentra had.)

The closest-to-matching Jetta and Civic climbed over the $26k mark. The Mazda3, Cruze and Focus were all in the $25k range. Hyundai's very competitive Elantra was a few hundred dollars more dear at just over $24k, while its cousin the Kia Forte offers fundamentally the same equipment as the Sentra for $300 more. Now, bear in mind that most of the models mentioned here have either more power than the Sentra, or fair less well than the Nissan's 30/39 mile per gallon City/Highway ratings for fuel economy. With that said, and with the Sentra's very frugal fuel econ noted, it's hard to say that any compact car in the market today offers more bang for your buck than this Sentra.

From a driving standpoint, the Sentra doesn't offer much to get excited about except for refinement and a smooth, confident ride. But the car is obviously very well priced, and the packaging of the thing will work well in the "do-everything" mold that compact car shoppers seem to desire. So, while the Sentra doesn't exactly enflame an enthusiast's heart with passion, we think that the rest of the players in this cutthroat segment had better watch their backs.

where's the grandpa simpson emoticon?? are we getting old, and years of inflation are passing us by?...or is it a product of safety regulations and tech standards?...maybe its a combination of both.

correction -- a 17k sentra in 2003, would have to grow at 4.0% inflation to break 25k in 2013. we are getting old.

Considering my income has grown substantially from 2003 since I was just out of HS lol that still is shocking. I never thought I'd see a 30k Civic, but then the Mugen SI came out.

I just received the new Sentra brochure in the mail today....though I don't recall ever requesting it.

Honestly, it's a good looking package. But unless it's well under 2500 lbs, 130hp/128lb-ft would never cut it IMHO.

The $23k price is tested with 17inch rims. Not long ago even midsize didnot come with 17inch. and interior space and cargo is already mid size.

http://www.insideline.com/nissan/sen...full-test.html
The big legroom figure quoted by Nissan for the backseats is no joke. Two adults could ride quite comfortably in back without feeling cramped. The only difference between the Sentra and Altima in this regard is width. The Altima, and most midsizers for that matter, offers more hip and shoulder room so adding a third person is far more realistic.

Cargo room is another area where the Sentra matches up favorably to both compact and midsize sedans. With 15.2 cubic feet of trunk space, the Sentra handily beats out rivals like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, which don't even top 13 cubic feet. At the midsize level, the Camry and the Altima have 15.4 cubic feet while the latest Accord has 15.8, so the advantage is pretty slim.
two person testing.

Post 2013 Nissan Sentra NISMO Concept

Press release...

As Nissan expands its NISMO line of factory performance models, it is revisiting the small car performance genre and teasing the future with the Los Angeles Auto Show world debut of the Nissan Sentra NISMO Concept.

The Sentra NISMO Concept is built on the solid foundation of the latest generation Nissan Sentra, which offers an outstanding balance of premium style, innovative technology and fuel-efficient performance. The concept injects performance and design tuner elements into the mix. Among the Sentra NISMO Concept's many departures from a production 2014 Sentra are its race-inspired exterior with enhanced aerodynamic performance, NISMO-tuned suspension, steering and transmission and engaging motorsports-style cockpit. And under the hood, the concept adapts a 1.8-liter direct injection turbocharged engine producing more than 240 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

"Fans have asked that we bring back a high-performance Sentra straight from the factory, just like in generations past," said Nissan Vice President of Product Planning, Pierre Loing. "With NISMO, our in-house motorsports arm already producing versions of the 370Z NISMO, JUKE NISMO, JUKE NISMO RS and upcoming GT-R NISMO, we wanted to demonstrate where we could go in the future."

A Powerful Presence

The look of the Sentra NISMO Concept, like previous Nissan performance sedans, is somewhat understated – more sophisticated and confident than "in-your-face" boy racer. Exterior modifications, designed to enhance Sentra's already good aerodynamics, start with a deep front fascia with lower LED lights and wide lower grille that match the stock Sentra's standard LED daytime running rights and upper grille.
The aerodynamic look continues with a wide lower front spoiler and along the sides of the vehicle with the oversized fender flares and integrated side sills flowing into a deep-skirted rear fascia accentuated by large dual exhaust tips. A custom rear spoiler and center rear fog lamp, which echoes the design of the 370Z's rear diffuser, complete the look. All lights on the vehicle feature a smoked look.

A thin, signature NISMO red accents accentuate the areas where aerodynamics have been emphasized such as the lower spoiler, while more discreet striping is found on the side mirrors and side sills. NISMO badges – with signature matching red "O" – are located front and rear.
The body is painted in a custom Bright Pearl White. The aerodynamic side door mirror covers, front splitter and rear diffuser are finished in a high-gloss, genuine carbon fiber diagonal pattern. The special Black Chrome-finished mesh grille is surrounded by Dark Chrome, adding to the Sentra NISMO Concept's imposing presence.

"The exterior treatment takes Sentra's mature, premium presence and infuses it with an added dimension of excitement and dynamic energy," said Loing. "Still easily identified as a Sentra, it evokes a strong sense of the power that lurks just below the surface."

While production 2014 Sentras combine responsive acceleration with excellent fuel efficiency from a 130-horsepower 1.8-liter DOHC 16-valve inline 4-cylinder engine, the Sentra NISMO Concept borrows technology from the new JUKE NISMO RS's DOHC 16-valve, turbocharged, intercooled, sequential Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) equipped 4-cylinder, enlarged to 1.8 liters. The NISMO-tuned engine produces an estimated 240+ horsepower and more than 240 lb-ft of torque – enough to show its taillights to ordinary sedans.

The engine is matched with a beefy 6-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential to help make sure that the power is directed firmly to the road surface. The stock Sentra's independent strut front and torsion beam rear suspension receive the NISMO tuning treatment, complete with custom performance shocks and springs.

Wide 19-inch RAYS aluminum-alloy wheels mounted with 225/35R19 Michelin Super Sport performance tires and red-painted 370Z brake calipers complete the package.

A true performance sports sedan demands an equally engaging cockpit. The Sentra NISMO Concept interior features an array of NISMO-inspired upgrades, including Recaro "Sportster" front seats with custom black leather and Alcantara® appointments. The rear seats are treated to a mix of perforated black Alcantara® in a similar pattern to the front seats. Alcantara® is also used for the pillars and headliner.

The racing-inspired interior continues with a NISMO-style leather/Alcantara®-wrapped steering wheel with red leather at the 12 o'clock position, along with matching shift knob and shifter lever boot surround. The instrument cluster features a satin carbon fiber finish and all chrome accents are treated to a Dark Chrome finish. Both the start button and tachometer include iconic NISMO anodized red rings.

The Ultimate Essence

"NISMO is the 'Ultimate Essence' of Nissan's 'Innovation and Excitement' as a performance and personalization brand. With its highly credible motorsport heritage and passionate attitude in pursuing victories and continuous performance improvement, the NISMO name is not to be taken lightly," said Loing. "Neither are vehicles that wear the NISMO badge. For those who love their sports sedans with a little adrenaline, a Nissan NISMO product should be on their shopping list."

The Nissan Altima is all-new for 2019, but its smaller stablemate is getting some updates for the new model year.

Currently arriving at dealerships, the 2019 Sentra starts at $17,790 which is an $1,100 increase over last year’s model. Despite the sizable price increase, the model carries over and continues to feature 16-inch steel wheels, a four-speaker audio system and Bluetooth connectivity. Other niceties include air conditioning, power windows / locks and cruise control.

Bigger chances occur on the Sentra SV which starts at $19,090. The model now comes standard with a 7.0-inch NissanConnect infotainment system featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

The model can also be equipped with a new SV Special Edition Package which adds a moonroof, rear disc brakes and 17-inch alloy wheels. The package also includes illuminated vanity mirrors, an overhead LED light and an assortment of driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert.

The Sentra SR starts $20,590 and the car comes with a sporty body kit that includes unique side skirts and rear spoiler. Other styling changes include LED headlights, a chromed exhaust tip and special 17-inch alloy wheels.

Like all the aforementioned models, the car is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 124 hp (92 kW / 125 PS) and 125 lb-ft (169 Nm) of torque. Buyers looking for something more powerful can upgrade to the $22,570 Sentra SR Turbo which features a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder developing 188 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque.

People who want something more luxurious and don’t need the extra power can opt for the Sentra SL. The model starts at $23,020 and comes nicely equipped leather upholstery, heated front seats and a 6-way power driver’s seat. Other highlights include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a moonroof, HomeLink and an 8-speaker Bose audio system.

The Sentra NISMO returns to the lineup and it starts at $25,840. The model features unique styling inside and out as well as the aforementioned turbo engine. While most of the changes are cosmetic, the NISMO variant has a sport-tuned suspension, a revised steering system and gripper tires which are mounted on 18-inch alloy wheels.

Note: Prices exclude a destination and handling fee of $895.

CarsDirect again rubbed its magic lantern, and out popped another order guide, this time for the 2020 Nissan Sentra. In April, we got a preview of certain design changes on the way when Nissan debuted the China-market Sylphy — our Sentra by another name. CarsDirect reports that alterations under the skin could be just as noteworthy. The site clarifies that it saw an early order guide, so things could change. For the moment, though, the 2020 Sentra's listed with a single powertrain, that being a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder with 149 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque, yoked to a continuously variable transmission.

The engine's likely taken from the Rogue Sport, where it makes 141 hp and 147 lb-ft. More importantly for the Sentra, the output handily beats figures for the standard 1.8-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder with 124 hp and 125 lb-ft when paired with a CVT, or 130 hp and 128 lb-ft when paired with a six-speed manual. As it stands, the absence of the more potent 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 188 hp and 177 lb-ft in the order guide could mean the mill has been retired from the lineup, or it might merely see late availability. Since spy photographers spotted a Sentra prototype under a whisper of camouflage in August with a six-speed manual, we're inclined to think there's another transmission on the way, and perhaps another engine.

Dynamic manners will improve on the next-gen sedan with the adoption of a multilink suspension for the rear axle on all trims, replacing the current car's torsion beam. Safety steps up, too, with Nissan Shield 360 standard on all 2020 Sentras, adding features like automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, lane-departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert among others.

The compact sedan is predicted to debut its sharper exterior and much more improved interior sometime before the end of the year, hitting the market early next year.

2020 Sentra

https://www.netcarshow.com/nissan/2020-sentra/

The all-new 2020 Nissan Sentra represents an exhilarating breakthrough for Nissan's popular compact sedan - with eye-catching new styling, a comprehensive suite of intelligent driving technologies including standard Nissan Safety Shield 360, advanced connectivity functions and confident performance provided by a new platform and a new engine.

Sentra is the best-selling Nissan model in the United States, with more than six million deliveries since the model debuted for the 1982 model year. Now in its eighth generation, the 2020 Sentra resembles its predecessors in name only. It has been completely transformed from a traditional compact sedan to a powerful presence that shares the muscular, sporty design elements from models like the Maxima and GT-R. It also features a new refined, more luxurious interior, setting new standards for quality and comfort.

Nissan Sentra's driving experience is also completely new, thanks to a more powerful, more efficient engine and a new platform featuring an independent rear suspension and rack electric power steering. And, like all four members of Nissan's newly revised sedan lineup, Sentra offers an extensive array of safety and driver-assist technologies and connectivity technology.

New Head-Turning Style

It all starts with the fundamentals. The all-new Nissan Sentra is built on a new platform that provides greatly improved proportions and stance. The new body is about two inches lower and two inches wider than the previous generation giving it a more powerful stance. The premium presence of the exterior is highlighted by Nissan's latest sedan design language including the signature V-motion grille, thin LED headlamps and floating roof

In front, Sentra's striking new look is created through use of sharp creases that blend into the more muscular body sides. The rear has a lower roofline and wider shoulders, with wheels flush to the body adding to the strong stance.

The available thin LED projector headlamps are matched with signature LED Daytime Running Lights and rear combination lamp design. LED fog lights are also available. Intelligent Auto Headlights (I-AH) and High Beam Assist (HBA) are standard on all Sentra grade levels.

The Nissan Sentra SR provides an extra touch of sportiness with a sport-style rear spoiler, black painted side mirrors with integrated turn signals, lower body side sill extensions, 18-inch diamond-cut aluminum-alloy wheels, dark chrome V-motion grille and chrome exhaust finisher.

The fresh slate of available exterior colors includes eight single colors: Electric Blue Metallic, Brilliant Silver Metallic, Gun Metallic, Super Black, Aspen White TriCoat (premium color), Fresh Powder, Rosewood Metallic and Scarlet Ember TriCoat (premium color). Made popular in other Nissan models like LEAF and Kicks, the 2020 Sentra will also offer two-tone exterior paint combinations including Super Black/Gun Metallic, Super Black/Aspen White TriCoat and Super Black/Monarch Orange Metallic (premium color).

Refinement and Attention to Detail

Inside, the 2020 Nissan Sentra's all-new interior is more refined and more luxurious - creating a high-quality experience for driver and passengers unexpected in the compact sedan segment. Attention to detail and craftsmanship can be found throughout the interior, with details like satin chrome aluminum accents, the intuitive placement of controls, contrast seat stitching, and a standard D-shaped steering wheel. They combine to give the interior a premium, refined feel added to what is expected to be among the quietest interior in its class.

No detail was spared in the new Sentra cabin, with extra care taken on driver touch points like the feel of the steering wheel in the driver's hand, the smooth operations of the dials and switches and available leather appointed seats. The combined effect is an impression of premium quality well beyond expectations for the segment.

In addition to the soft feel of the leather, the new Sentra also boasts Nissan's renowned Zero Gravity front seats to help optimize posture positioning for enhanced comfort during long distance driving.

Convenience and Connectivity

The all-new Nissan Sentra was designed to make owners feel in control and safely connected to the world around them. At the heart of that connectivity, is a 4.2 inch digital multi-information driver's display and a standard 7.0-inch color touchscreen with Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant, Siri® Eyes Free and Google Assistant™ Voice Recognition.

On SV and higher grades, there is also an available advanced 7-inch digital drivers display paired to a floating 8.0-inch multi-touch center display with available amenities such as NissanConnect® featuring Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ for seamless integration. Heated front seats and outside mirrors and remote engine start are essential for cold weather comfort. Sentra also offers driver assist technologies like available Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) and Intelligent Around View® Monitor (I-AVM) for a more confident drive.

A New, Confident Driving Experience, including Standard Nissan Safety Shield 360

The 2020 Nissan Sentra is more than just good looks and technology. One of the most dramatic updates to the all-new Sentra is in the driving experience enabled by a new, larger and more powerful engine and key suspension enhancements.

The new, fuel-efficient 2.0-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine replaces the previous 1.8-liter design. The new engine delivers 149 horsepower and 146 ft.-lb. of torque, an increase of 20 percent and 16 percent respectively. Fuel economy is also projected to improve. All 2020 Sentra models come equipped with the latest generation Xtronic transmission.

Nissan Sentra's top-level driving dynamics start with the new independent rear suspension matched to a McPherson strut front suspension with twin-tube shock absorbers.

In addition, the center of gravity has been lowered, in part, through use of the 2.0-inch wider track and 2.2-inch lower overall height. Traffic and wind noise has been reduced through improved door and window sealing, body sealing and expanded use of soft acoustic materials for a quieter ride.

A new dual pinion rack electric power steering, also a first for use on Sentra, aids steering feel and maneuverability, while confident braking is supplied by available 4-wheel vented disc brake system (SV and above). The cumulative of all these changes is enhanced handling, stability and ride comfort, providing a greater sense of driver confidence and control.

Advanced safety and driver assist technologies are now available across Nissan's sedan lineup and the new Sentra is no exception. Nissan Safety Shield 360, a suite of six advanced driver-assist systems, is standard on all 2020 Sentra grade levels. Safety Shield 360 includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), High Beam Assist (HBA) and Rear Automatic Braking (RAB). Also standard are Rear Door Alert (RDA), 10 supplemental air bags and Intelligent Driver Alertness (I-DA).

A Simplified Lineup

For 2020, the Nissan Sentra grade walk has been simplified - S, SV and SR - and just two option packages. Sentra S includes 16-inch steel wheels with full covers, remote keyless entry with push button start, center console with storage and much more.

Nissan Sentra SV adds 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 205/60R16 all-season tires, NissanConnect featuring Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, 8-inch color display with multi-touch control6-speaker audio system, Dual Zone Auto Climate Control, Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), upgraded cloth interior and more.

The sporty Nissan Sentra SR includes 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 215/45R18 all-season tires, dark chrome V-motion grille, LED headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights, LED fog lights, sport cloth interior with orange stitching, rear spoiler and lower body side sill extensions.

That's a nice looking interior.

I remember riding around in a 2nd gen Sentra back in High School. That was like a plain tin can compared to this. It's come a long way.

The 2024 Nissan Sentra is enhanced for the new model year with refreshed modern exterior styling, improved fuel economy and more premium features on the popular SV grade. The 2024 Nissan Sentra range (S, SV and SR grades) goes on sale in late summer 2023.

The car's updated appearance includes a new front fascia and restyled headlights on all models, plus dynamic new 16- and 18-inch alloy wheel designs. Sentra SR models add a restyled rear fascia and new interior accent stitching color.

A new Xtronic CVT and the addition of Idle Stop Start, along with a smooth, responsive 2.0-liter inline-four engine, deliver improved fuel efficiency for the 2024 model.

More technology on the popular SV grade enhances the user experience. New for the 2024 model year, the SV Premium package adds Intelligent Around View Monitor®, an 8-speaker Bose® Premium Audio System and exterior mirrors with turn signal indicators. Nissan Sentra SR also adds heated front seats as standard.

While class-exclusive Intelligent Forward Collision Warning is equipped as standard, additional driver-assist technology includes Intelligent Driver Alertness, available Intelligent Around View® Monitor, available Intelligent Cruise Control and standard Easy-Fill Tire Alert system.

Like all Nissan models, Sentra prioritizes safety for peace of mind. All grades have standard Nissan Safety Shield® 360, a suite of six advanced driver-assist systems including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist and Rear Automatic Braking.

Fresh new look

Visual updates begin with a reshaped front fascia with a new interpretation of Nissan's V-motion grille, with bright chrome trim. The lower fascia has a cleaner appearance with vent-like elements moved to the outer edges of the car. A new available 16-inch alloy design is featured on the SV grade.

All 2024 Sentra grades feature updated headlights with black interior bezel elements, giving them a sportier and more premium appearance.

Sportier Sentra SR

The sporty appearance of Nissan Sentra SR is elevated for the 2024 model year with a new 18-inch wheel design, dark chrome trim for the V-motion grille, dark chrome outer finish elements on the front fascia and a body-colored lower trim strip below the grill. Red SR badges are also added, front and rear.

In the rear, a new lower fascia graphic design helps make Nissan Sentra look lower and wider. The SR grade's interior accent stitching color has been updated to a red-orange that more closely matches that seen in Altima SR and Frontier PRO-X and PRO-4X.

Sentra SR stands out from the competition with striking two-tone paint options, with the option to pair a black roof with Aspen White Tricoat, Monarch Orange Metallic, Electric Blue Metallic and the new Atlantic Gray body colors.

Refined and functional interior

The 2024 Nissan Sentra's highly functional, visually appealing interior brings a high level of refinement to the class. Functional elements include a D-shaped steering wheel, round air vents inspired by elements of the Nissan Z sports car, and abundant storage options, including front and rear door pockets, a center console with armrest and available rear seat armrest with cupholders.

Nissan's Zero Gravity front seats hold occupants in a supportive posture that improves comfort. Available satin chrome interior accents and contrast seat stitching further elevate the interior ambience. Up to three USB ports allow passengers to keep devices charged, while available rear-seat cupholders provide convenience for back-seat passengers. Sentra also offers storage in the center console and an available storage pocket in the passenger seatback. Sentra's trunk provides a generous 14.3 cubic feet of cargo space, with a standard 60/40 split-folding back seat offering flexibility in storage.

Powertrain performance

Nissan Sentra has a standard, fuel-efficient 2.0-liter inline-four engine with 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. For the 2024 model year, Sentra features a new Xtronic CVT designed to reduce fuel consumption while providing a smoother shift pattern. Also new is standard Idle Stop Start, which can shut off the engine when the vehicle is stopped to help save fuel.

Convenient connectivity

Nissan Sentra keeps drivers connected with a standard 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that features Bluetooth®, Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, Siri® Eyes-Free, Google Assistant™ Voice Recognition and one front USB port. It is paired with a 4-speaker audio system.

Sentra SV and SR upgrade to an 8-inch screen with 6 speakers, an additional front USB Type-C port and a charge-only USB Type-A port in the center console, plus SiriusXM® satellite radio.

Sentra also provides drivers with a standard 4.2-inch multi-information display, upgraded to a 7-inch Advanced Drive-Assist® Display on SV and SR grades.

Extensive list of comfort and convenience features

Nissan Sentra SV includes 16-inch alloy wheels, Nissan Intelligent Key® push-button start, Intelligent Cruise Control, 7-inch Advanced Drive-Assist Display, 8-inch touchscreen information system and satin chrome interior front door handles. An All-Weather package is available that combines dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel and remote engine start.

The popular SV Premium package adds three desirable features for the 2024 model year: an 8-speaker Bose® Premium Audio system, Intelligent Around View® Monitor and turn signal indicators on the exterior mirrors. It also includes 17-inch alloy wheels, 6-way power driver's seat, a power-sliding moonroof with tilt feature, quilted leather-appointed seats, a leather shift knob and a rear-seat armrest with two cupholders.

The sporty Sentra SR builds on SV with features including 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and tail lights, dark chrome exterior trim, red SR badges, a rear spoiler and other athletic exterior design elements. The interior features sport cloth with reddish-orange stitching accent, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and remote engine start.

The SR Premium package builds on that feature set with the addition of a power-sliding moonroof with tilt feature, Prima-Tex™-appointed seats, a 6-way power driver's seat, Intelligent Around View® Monitor, 8-speaker Bose® Premium Audio system, a heated steering wheel, and NissanConnect® Services featuring a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Driver Assistance and Safety

All grades have standard Nissan Safety Shield® 360, a suite of six advanced driver-assist systems including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist and Rear Automatic Braking. Class-exclusive Intelligent Forward Collision Warning is also standard on all models. A standard haptic steering wheel, along with audio cues, helps provide safety alerts to drivers.

Additional driver assistance technology includes Intelligent Driver Alertness and available Intelligent Cruise Control. Available Intelligent Around View® Monitor uses exterior cameras to provide a 360-degree view around the vehicle, ideal for maneuvering at low speeds, such as when parking.

Standard Easy-Fill Tire Alert system, which uses the vehicle's horn to indicate when tires are filled to the appropriate pressure, helps owners maintain their vehicle's tire pressure more easily. Additionally, Rear Door Alert can alert drivers to any forgotten items in the back seat at the end of their journey.

Not sure why anyone would shop this over a Civic or Corolla.

No mention of price, but that's the only real reason I could see.
Though my boss did buy his daughter a new Sentra last year. But, they're a bit of a Nissan family. His wife had an Altima, then a Rogue; daughter got the Altima, then the Sentra.

Outside of the GTR or Z, not much that I'd put my own $$ into from Nissan, and I can't afford a GTR & can't justify the Z.
