Designer for new Skyline GT-R?

Well, the newest pic posted from this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...9&page=4&pp=25

Is apparently from this guy who drew it in 2001: http://www.chrison.com/cardesign.html

The thing is, from his News page, there is no mention that his own design is for the new R35. So, go figure as to what exactly is the supposed new look for the flagship Nissan car...Just an FYI everyone...

if it were up to me, I would also make the rear end look a little less like a boat.

I think its the particular way the rear is slanted...

The illustration below depicts the upcoming Nissan Skyline GT-R. The GT-R version of the Skyline has always been a special high-performance offering in Nissan's lineup, and this one will continue that tradition. The GT-R probably has the record for the number of car-mag stories about a vehicle that has never been available in the U.S., and it remains high on our wish list.

Built on a new platform that is not shared with the standard-model Skyline, or Infiniti G35 coupe, as it's known stateside, it will likely make the GT-R far more expensive than run-of-the-mill G35 coupes.

There are conflicting reports out of Japan regarding the powerplant. One camp believes the GT-R will be powered by a Cosworth-developed twin-turbo version of the current 3.5-liter V-6, offering at least 450 horsepower. Others believe a new twin-turbo 3.2-liter V-6 will get the call.

To make sure the GT-R has supercar handling, chassis engineers from Lotus were selected to develop its steering, suspension, and drivetrain. Could this special Skyline so long denied to U.S. enthusiasts finally come to the States? "G35 GT-R" has a certain ring to it, but it's up to Nissan or Infiniti's product planners to decide whether it will come to our shores.

I dunno im liking the second one here. This new pic reminds me of the G35 a little too much. I know its the same platform and the G35 is the Skyline in Japan but atleast make it a little more different. JMHO

I think that the pics of it looking like the G35 are just because the needed something there. That car is just a mule for what's working underneath. The real GTR won't look like that.

Mega Nissan On Starting Line - - Source: Autoexpress

The Skyline's the limit with Nissan's latest sports car. Boosted by the success of its 350Z coupé, plans are underway for another sensational car described by insiders as "for adrenaline junkies".

Destined to slot in between future versions of the Z and the powerhouse GT-R, the newcomer will aim to combine the best elements of both its siblings. That means the style and usability of the former, plus the superb grip and handling of the latter.

It will sit on an all-new platform shared between the three models, while the styling will take elements from the Skyline GT-R concept displayed at the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show, and the Infiniti G35 which is sold in the US and Japan.

Power may come from a naturally aspirated version of the large-capacity V8 shown in the Skyline prototype. Although not due until 2008, the car could be the first UK model to wear the Infiniti badge, distinguishing it from regular Nissan products.

Meanwhile Nissan has two new special editions at bargain prices. The Micra URBIS gets air-con, alloys, rear parking sensors, plus interior and exterior enhancements for £9,350. That's a saving of £855. The Almera SX has 16-inch alloys, front and rear spoilers plus front foglamps and a chrome exhaust. It costs £11,095.

Thats because skyline = g35 in US. I'd expect it to be identical. Not already kinda brought it over. They did....

Seems there is a lot of people who think the "skyline" is a 4wd twin turbo Nissan. When "Skyline" is just the base model car. The *GTR* edition of the skyline is 4wd twin turbo... hence "Skyline GTR"... the "Skyline GTR" is the one everyone has always been excited about. Never the standard Skyline. They released the Skyline as the G35 in US because we are snobbs, otherwise it's be called the Nissan Skyline here too instead of the G35. It's the same. Nissan has not produced the GTR edition of the new bodystyle yet....

Will they call it the "G35 GTR" probably not knowing the marketing in the US.

It's really stupid fictitious names like Acura, Infinity and Lexus have to exist in the United States to appease the people purchasing. Especially when alll your buying is a Honda, Nissan and Toyota rebadged... lol, but whatever makes you feel better...

I always laugh when I hear someone say "I own an Acura its better than your honda". Or the same with any of the other brands...

Now that is styling. These kind of cars should be striking fear. Like this one is.

No one other than the folks at Nissan know what the car will look like or perfrom. It's just too far out. ALl of this hype about a car 3 years away

BTW, Siggy nailed it right on, although Lexus is trying to distance itself from its Toyota roots more than the others.

Nissan leaning toward badging Skyline GT-R performance car a Nissan for U.S. market - - Automotive News - - Source: Autoweek

Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. is on track to badge its high-performance Skyline GT-R sports car in North America as a Nissan, not as an Infiniti.

A brief debate erupted within the company over the car's U.S. badging. Some argued that Infiniti needed a performance car, whereas the Nissan brand already has the 350Z.

"The decision is not made," said Carlos Tavares, Nissan's vice president for the product strategy and product planning division. But he added, "If we don't change the specific target customer" for the Skyline GT-R, "it will be a Nissan."

..not to mention, it'll probably be on V36 platform, not the current V35. But Nissan will still make a contender out of it.

Those were the plans 2 years ago. Then they changed. Apparently Carlos wanted to..."do this right". Let's see what happens.
