The latest about the GTR from Ghosn is that it's delayed yet again. It's not a priority right now within Nissan. As you saw from the Detroit SHow, Nissan's priority was TRUCKS this year. And it's trucks for now. That's what they are missing, that's what has high margins. Though the GTR will be sold globally and possibly with a turbo engine outside North American and with a V8 inside North America. Sounds like we have to wait for another 2 years before we see it in dealerships.
What happend was the R34 GT_R was to be the last Skyline. Nissan was broke and did not have any money to develop a R35. SInce their turnaround, they now have money. The R35 was/is not a priority. AS stated, it is to continue to make money, hence the trucks.

The GT-R is a one of a kind vehicle. Making it share platforms and engines dilutes the hell outta it.

I heard the V-8 rumor is dropped, the V-6 is in with turbos. Also, not sure if it will be a Nissan or an Infiniti. GHosen wants to bring Infinitit to Europe when he takes over Renault in 3 years. But a 60k Infinitit or Nissan may not fly.

Most of the GT_R lovers here are kids, the general public has no idea what a great maching it is. Kids can't buy 50-60k+ cars.

I would love one, if done right.

True. but i'm sure the GTR is not aimed at the average car buyer of the general public, More for enthusiasts.

Same can be said for the NSX.

Another Delay For GT-R - - - Source: Autoexpress

Fans awaiting the all-new Nissan GT-R shouldn't hold their breath - the supercar has been delayed again. Product planning boss Patrick Pelata says it will now be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2007. He told us: "A car such as the GT-R has to make technology breakthroughs. It takes time to find these solutions."

Sounds like bad wording on AutoExpress's part since Ghosn said it would be released in 2007 back in October.

Just upgrade the G35 coupe interior, give the coupe AWD with the manual and we'll mod it to GT-R levels. Church.

... I don't think so. A GT-R cum Infiniti will do fine here... Infiniti's improved it's brand image by leaps and bounds already... the new M is coming out soon, and hopefully Infiniti won't screw up the next Q. Infiniti don't have a 2 door V8 powered car here yet, and it'll drive circles around it's competiton for sure. I think the V8 will most likely be the engine, especially since it's already used in the U.S.

I mean at this point, 300 HP, two years from now, will be mainstream for the sport enthusiast.

This thing will have 450. Think about it. Just a few years ago, 450 was what the Viper made and it was THE power to have. It was thought of as stratospheric. Now you can get almost as much with a Vette, a GTO for 35K or a discontinued Cobra.

It's just getting crazy out there with power.

I don't like it. The 400hp sounds good but 180mph, I expected 200pmh.

The face reminds me of the new M... the hood, and front proportions... I think this car will be a beast. By the time it's ready for production it'll be tight. I don't mind the 450HP... just matters how they price this thing.

I suspect those are modified M35 headlights on the new Lexus IS300 body.

That photoshop may not be that far off. I trust that the NA G35 (might be G40 based on engine size) will make it a bit faster than last time - the Skyline was out for over a year before the G35 debut in NA. The current Skyline is going on 4 years so this one might not be that far off - probably late 06 as an 07 model. Infinit will need something like this to keep its line fresh - all of the new M hoopla will have died down by then.

A duzy for sick's 11,000 post.

The Skyline has several models including the GT-R and sedan V35 (NA G35). Compared to perhaps yesterday, yes it's old but I think it's been around the net for less than a month.

I'd buy the GT-R if it comes out in 2007 or 2008!! Yeah, the power craze is nuts right now... need 400+hp just to keep up with other cars on the road!!

the new infiniti GTR will have 450HP+... it is either 3.3TT or 3.5TT.

Expect half the current M3 and boxer S owners show up at Infiniti Dealer in 07.

Another thing to note, is that with the increase in power we've been noticing over the years, and the costs not going up too much, there's gonna be a lot more idiots and crazy drivers on the road with cars that have more power than they can handle.

Scary thought.

This sketch I saw with the previous sketch but I did not post cos it does not look like what a stock Skyline could look like. So I ignored.

In my opinion yes. It looks a lot like the future direction Nissan is taking its cars. It may look a lot like a concept but it is more realistic.

The above pic, looks like a heavily modified version of a Skyline.

It looks like a kitted up version of the last Skyline, though it's the best I've ever seen.
