Its like a boring G35, they killed the whole idea of the I30 line when the made the I35 and discontinued the manual transmission option. Its become a cheap crappy version of what it once was.

why are they even bothering? The Maxima fully equipped is so much $$ now to fall into the I35 category

I dont even fully understand that existance of the I35 in the USA market. After the G35 came out, I thought they would discontinue the model. I did read several times in mags that they were planning in phasing it out.

I think the point of the I35 is very similar to the ES300 vs the IS300. They want to capture the people that are mainly interested in luxury, not sportiness. Now I actually liked the I35, thought it was much better looking than the maxima. Not too big a fan of the above picture though.

looks like the purpose of this I35 would be to bring in buyers who are still interested in this particular package but don't really care for the Maxima's somewhat radical (for Nissan) wrappings.

If you take off the Nissan emblems, I think it looks quite a bit like a Passat. Or is it just me?

I35 = TL = ES300
comon they cant just leave this market segment alone, the ES300 is the leading seller for Lexus and the TL is the only Acura besides the RSX/TSX that sells well. there is demand out there for an entry level luxury, FWD, japanese sedan, and Infiniti is going to keep their hat in the ring.

mainly just rumor now. its the nissan teana in japan, does seem to fit the job well for people who like the size and power of the 2004 maxima but want infiniti service and quality. comes with a cvt standard.

the interior is pretty nice

I think the point of the I35 is very similar to the ES300 vs the IS300.
Well, the IS 300 is very hardcore and the ES 300 is very softcore. No in-between. Plus buyers are convinced (as well as the public) that Lexus is a Luxury brand so Lexus can sell 2 cars at the same price while the public still sees Infiniti as=WTF or Who cares.

The G35 mixes both sport and luxury and that is what really convinced me the I 35 was done. Otherwise, they would have hopefully made the interior more hardcore sport like the IS.

That new Maxima is one UGLY car. UGLY. And the new Mitsu Galant looks JUST LIKE IT

There is nothing "galant" about the new mitsu, it seems to becoming uglier and unglier as time goes by

Personally, I like the I35 more than any TL. I wish it was around when i bought my TL. It has a classy look, nice interior and TL-S performance at a TL-P price. I just like it I am glad that Infiniti is going w/ this car.

I35 cant handle nearly as well as the TL-P can and also , just because it has 255HP doesnt mean its faster than the TL-P.

0-60 tests show its 7.0seconds while the TL-P is 6.7seconds
1/4mile is 15.3 for the I35 and 15.2 for the TL-P

where exactly does the I35 beat the TL-P and have TL-S performance? also, that look is that of a maxima. when i was considering cars, i came from the nissan dealership and then sat in the i35... i thought i walked somehow back into the nissan dealership because the interior was almost exactly the same. really disappointing

maximas are 2-300 lbs lighter than the i35s. Also, the gearing on the max trannies (both auto and 6spd) are MUCH MUCH more agressive than their infiniti counterparts. Also, i believe the I35 does not still have a 5spd automatic and uses a 4spd, unlike the tl/tls
