New Maxima 3.5 SE vs. A4 3.0 Review in MotorTrend

Both with 6 speed sticks:

0-60
Max= 6.3 secs
A4= 6.9 secs

1/4
Max= 14.77@96.69mph
A4= 15.24@92.11mph

60-0 mph
Max= 129 feet
A4= 119 feet

Slalom
Max= 62.3mph
A4= 66.2mph

Price
Max as tested estimated price= $34,000
A4 as tested= $38.4K

Max= 265HP at 5800 rpm
Max= 255 lb-ft@ 4400 rpm
A4= 220HP at 6300 rpm
A4= 221 lb-ft @ 3200 rpm

They still picked the A4 over the Max despite the Max's lower price, and faster #s.

I completely agree Red Rider. Maxima is incredibly ugly. And why buy a car that goes almost as fast as an Altima and looks like an uglier version of an altima?

Plus, Maxima apparently has not solved the torque steer problem, while Audi has with its suspension tweaks.

Performance #s don't make the Max any better to look at.

i would have prefered the 1.8t myself, but otherwise no big suprise there

30k to 35k for any Maxima is simply nuts. The interior is the new usual Nissan cheap. Very disapointing. I do love the standard 2 moonroofs though. Nice idea. It's slower than the outgoing model (again).

To much mass to be a true Maxima. A4 is a great car too, tough comparo.
