I couldn't figure out what was wrong with the photo posted because it looked like the side mirrors were too far back. Clinked on the link and noticed the 1980's minivan window on the car! Look at how far the driver is from the windshield.

So sad.
The first two generations—three, if you count their philosophical older siblings the Starion/Conquest—were fun cars. Built like shit but fun.
Now neither the design or performance are there. It makes me want to grab the car, kiss it, and say, "You broke my heart, Fredo, you broke my heart."

that car is unbelievably misproportioned. the first thing I noticed was it has the same grill as the Galant, possibly the most bland car in existence.

I think the 2001 that my brother drives has quite a bit of overhang as well.
What's with the two humps in the back?
Junkster, who wants to see the final product

Mitsu Names Truck "Raider," Details '06 Eclipse - - Source: The Car Connection
Mitsu also told dealers that the 2006 Eclipse will bow alongside the Raider at the 2005 Detroit auto show in January. The new Eclipse will actually go on sale first - in summer 2005, a couple of months ahead of the Raider. The Eclipse will get more powerful four- and six-cylinder engines (the six is worth 260 hp), an available six-speed manual gearbox or five-speed automatic and 18-inch wheels, and an optional 650-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system with a six-CD in-dash changer, MP3 playback, nine speakers with a 10-inch subwoofer.

I completely agree that the second generation eclipse was by far the best looking one, and a great looking car all around. to this day when I see one in good condition I still think it's a great looking car. my girlfriend has a 98 eclipse convertible and it looks great.
people to this day search for 1st gen and 2nd gen eclipses (the dsm crowd) because they have a uniqueness about them .. awd turbo coupes! you can't even find them on the market today with the exception of the audi TT. I think mitsubishi had a good thing going with that car and then they COMPLETELY ruined it with the 3rd gen .. and it looks like they did it again unless by some act of god this car actually does look and handle well, and that 6spd 260hp v6 actually moves that thing.

Interesting advertisement.
So based on the ad's mention of the soul of the car not changing... this new eclipse is gonna suck balls right?
It better have that 260.
