Hah, there goes MB's hope of my family buying another S-class. The exterior is okay, I'm sure it will look very classy on the streets. That interior will not fly. iDrive sucks and I don't think MB can execute electronics that much better than BMW. Old folks buy these cars for the most part and they don't want everything to be electronically controlled through one knob... that's as simple as it gets. They'd rather push a button labelled "Radio" than move the knob right once and up twice.

But lets hope MB knows all this already.

Similar to the 7-Series, but nicer, IMO. It's amazing how few buttons they have. They're putting a whole lot of eggs in the Command basket.

There must be some customer feedback influencing these designs, no? After so much iDrive bashing why would anyone put something like that in the car knowing the downside?

I was told the MB system is much more intuitive than Idrive.......which most people agree sucks.

MB obviously knows this and will not put out a system that is a pain in the ass to use. The Sclass is an extremely important vehicle for MB and they won't fuck it up.

horrible, horrible interior. why copy bmw when their interiors aren't even good looking? current benz interiors and exteriors look much better than the new bangled bimmers.

The interior pic can't be real. It's just too identical to the BMW's. I will not believe it.

Only problem is that the seat adjustments button is undeniably MB.

but everything else is like, IDENTICAL. Unless MB has secretly collaborated with BMW on the interior design, I will not believe it. The little nuances of the center console design (including that weird thing that sits on top of it and also the design of the flip-open part), the ventilation system ducts in the center, the i-Drive knob... The similarities are just too uncanny to be true, unless a collaboration is in order.

It's an MB cause the steering wheel looks the same as the one in the '06 M-class.

That was the plan a few months ago so I'm not sure if they have decided to drop the 55. However, if they want to make the 63 in those I will be all for it.

I am not sure if the 55 will stay once the 63 comes out. We'll see.

The 6.3 NA engine is not a V12 engine.

This makes a lot sense. To use a force fed version of the 6.3 liter V8 for the "heavier" cars where torque is paramount and a normally aspirated version for the "lighter" cars (C, SLK, etc.). High peak HP is great but sometimes too much torque ruins the experience even with electro-gadgets present.

Everything else is not identical. LEt me get a pic of the 7 to compare and you will see there is a very clear difference.

Identical isn't an adequate description, but now that the two interiors are compared, it seems, at least to me, that MB was heavily influenced by the BMW.

ok..... I was confused. I thought the first 2 pics were the comparison pics.

still looks heavily influenced, and

but no, they are not "identical"

The S's is much more simpler and elegant than the 7's. The 7's looks fussy and busy in comparison to the S's.

Me too. It's much more in your face. Look at the sharp creases in the wheel arches and belt line. It looses a little of the elegance of the current model, but I like it too.

These creases remind me of the 300. No?

GROSS. at least lose the rear arch. this looks like one of those Hyundais thats trying to ripoff the current top 10 design cues into a comglamerate.

overall its too long and thin. beef it up! this is why i still like the big body S Class over the rest

Would have to see it in person but I never liked the current version all that much.

I wish MB would rewind a little and come back with something like this.

The current model took a few years to really grow on me....I hated it at first and now I love it...

That said....I'm pretty sure I don't like what I see right now.

I love the current S-Class. This new gen just doesn't have a luxurious air to it. Looks like a first rate Hyundai though
