I can't think of one MB interior that looked worth a damn...they all looked to be covered in vinyl...but they lasted forevah..

I agree with the CL/S and SL, but not the GL.

The SL is my favorite interior and the only one that gently slopes away from the driver. Cup holders suck though.

You can tell when MB cuts corners because you know what theyre capable of doing. Look at the leather wrapped steering wheel on the SL - the portion where your hands don't even touch! Now that's wonderful.

And then you have the GL with its plasticky interior and wood just tacked on for the sake of calling it a luxury interior.

Yes, MB does cut corners. They switched to a less expensive suspension set-up for the new E, for example. But there are a ton of global pressures on driving sales and the fact is Mercedes-Benz doesn't really raise prices of their products much when you compare to BMW or Audi. BMWs have shot up in price over the past 20 years but the price of a basic E is pretty much the same. In fact, a 2010 with more features cost $3,000 less.

I'd love to see all the cars have SL Class interiors but at the same time I'd also like to sell MBs to more people.

Also, the SL is a niche product in the 90k range so it's unreasonable to expect a C or E to have the same type of interior.

Still, MB uses real wood, aluminum trim on the bumpers that can be changed out so you don't have to replace the entire bumper, and they have useful things inside like real tie downs and the engineering of their hood hinges would put most other brands to shame. That's what counts to me.

They are also the only brand I believe to offer LIFETIME roadside assistance.
