If it's car-based, it's just a tall station wagon.

No need to jump off bridges

Smaller than a M? Rav-4 size? Gay. Benz needs to really stick to the upmarket and to hell with the masses.

This is going to be the next segment in SUV's: luxury cute ute's.....we have the X3 and Freelander, soon the Acura RDX, the X-class (if true), Volvo XC50 and probably more....I wouldn't suprised to see Lexus bring a rebadged Rav4 and maybe a Lincoln escape

What's crazy is, this thing will sell. It'll basically be a fight between this thing and the X3 for a small, premium SUV with a luxo name.

Mercedes-Benz is planning its response to the BMWX3. Running under the working title MLK-Class, the new smaller than M class (ML500, et al.) sport.utility will be built on Mercede's next-generation C-Class beginning in the 2007 calendar year. Like the MLK, the next generation midsize M-Class will be on a unibody platform ( the M-Class switches ofom the current truck's body on frame platform.) The compact MLK will be built only in Europe, where Mercedes expects to find more buyers because of the new SUV's tidy size. Small, elegant SUVs look like the Next Big Thing in the Old World. Because of its C-Class roots, we can expect the MLK to come with the new four valve 3.0 liter and 3.5 liter V-6's in the U.S. as well as a supercharged four and turbodiesel for the home market. If Mercedes continues its rampant proliferation of AMG marketing, an MLK55 AMG isn't out of the question. As for the name, it makes sense in Europe, with the connection to SLK-Class and CLK-Class. But here, those initials are the same as those of the late civil-rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr. Another rumored name, X-Class is out because of the BMW X3 and X5.

It's not disrespect, but they don't want to be associated w/ a person so buyers aren't confused (they might think it's a tribute or something...wheter it is or it isn't.)

Yeah, I guess you're right, but that's the stupidest shit I've ever heard. I would've never associated the two unless it was pointed out...and I couldn't care less about the issue. Sad that this is what society has come to.
