Hyundai never copies anybody..... everybody always copies Hyundai, since they're such trend setters in automotive design

so they are dropping the CLK nomenclature for E-Class Coupe??

is this to stir up sales? or does this car share more underpinnings with the E Class than its predecessor?

very clever, I understand the sarcasm. Now can you tell me who hyundai copied off of? (other than the genesis which has the lights of an acura RL)

People claim that the design cues off hyundai's cars are off of other cars, but I've yet to see one copy.

Every car maker takes cues from other car makers. No need to get butt hurt when somebody says Hyundai copies.

hyundai's initial goal was to provide generic cars for cheaper. go ahead, copy away.

now that they are becoming self-established, they could provide unique cars to carry the badge. ex. genesis coupe.

eventually, with more success, they could have a branded design across the line-up.

do I even have to go there? In another thread, msl called us out to post pictures of cars that Hyundai got cues from. I posted one pic...... then 3 or 4 other people followed suit in another thread, posting pictures of all sorts of Hyundais that looked like older cars. I actually like the Genesis sedan and coupe..... and the fact that the latter is a unique looking Hyundai (a unique looking car, even) has nothing to do with it.

Luckily I have it bookmarked for a good laugh once in a while.
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=143235&page=5

Oh and here's the catalyst that started it all... begin at post #86 and go from there. Enjoy the ensuing commentary
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=143235&page=3

Like someone else said, every car maker takes cues from other cars.... not everyone can be a trendsetter. Its nothing serious, its just pathetically funny when msl derails random threads with his "oh look that car looks like this Hyundai." I actually don't have the other thread bookmarked, but there was literally half a page full of pictures of Hyundais (even their SUVs) that looked like cars/SUVs from other manufacturers...

I mean hey, I can perfectly understand why Mercedes would want to copy Hyundai..... since Hyundai is single-handedly crushing all of its competition in its respective segments. Mercedes could NEVER compete with Hyundai no matter what it does, thus they have no other choice but to imitate Hyundai's designs.

I don't like the roofline, too much VW Beetle. And there seems to be way too much rear seat room for a coupe while the trunk is looking small. And this hydroforming of the body panels is getting out of hand: too busy with too many curves and creases.

Some info about the convertible via WCF...

As you know by now, the CLK has been morphed into the E-Class Coupe. You won't be seeing that production model soon, since it will likely first be shown either at Geneva in March 2009 or the Frankfurt Motor Show later next September.

But we've seen the spy photos and now here is an artist's rendition of what the final product will probably look like.

The E-Class Coupe cabriolet/convertible will feature a retractable hardtop, if we are to believe what we've seen in spy shots, as you cannot tell by this rendition.

It will also come with Mercedes-Benz's new Bluetec diesel with 204 hp and there will also be a 550 hp V8 AMG version. The rest of the lineup of engines for the E-Class are also expected to power this cabrio.

The new E-Class coupe variants will be based on Mercedes' C-Class platform, as was the CLK, but will be larger and feature more interior refinement to go with bump up in class.

You likely won't see this convertible until Frankfurt next year.

poor photoshop. even the passenger side secondary headlight is a mirrored copy and paste job of the driver side secondary headlight. the perspective of the headlight projector looks like crap.

unprofessional. i'll wait to see the real thing...

We've seen so many spy shots of the upcoming 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class that these official images hardly move us. Yet here they are, three images leaked onto the web that reportedly reveal the final production form of the 2010 E-Class, which makes its official debut in January at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show.

The new E-Class was previewed by the Mercedes-Benz ConceptFascination that debuted at this year's Paris Motor Show, and we can see now that the front of the production car was heavily influenced by the concept. Gone are the round, quad headlamps, which have been replaced with new light fixtures that still number four but are more contemporary and clean. Strips of LEDs can also be had as fog lights in the outermost intakes of the lower front bumper, which must be a German thing as Audi and Porsche have placed the advanced lighting tech in similar areas on their cars. The soft lines of the current model have been chiseled into a crisper shape that shares creases with its big brother, the S-Class, and the new profile appears to be more forgiving of tall passengers in back. The unfortunate looking Galant-like rear end features large, rectangular tail-lights that cross over a rather voluminous-looking trunk.

We expect the new 2010 E-Class to be loaded with more advanced performance, safety and entertainment technology than ever before, including the ability to read road signs, monitor driver fatigue and see in the dark without its lights on. In Europe it will be available with engines that range from four to six to eight cylinders large and are fueled by either gas or diesel. In the U.S., we should expect what we have now: a V6, V8 and AMG model.

Still does nothing for me.
