Beg to differ, this is a FWD base AWD system..1M is RWD.
Pretty sure the driving dynamics are vastly different. Also cylinders will always matter as power delivery will be dependent on that as well. On paper this car sounds nice but doesnt really impress me yet for the price.

Just about every car on your list has the options and packages to get into the $70Ks easily.
I agree with you that $48k for a CLA45 seems rather high. Most of the time that I spec out a C63 the way I want, it's nearly $80k. Perhaps MB knows something we don't about average transaction prices of cars like C63 and realizes that a $52k CLA45 isn't going to compete with the C63 because the C63 normally sells in the high $60Ks?
Where I see it cannibalizing sales is from the C350. A $52k CLA45 and a $52k C350 4Matic seems like a harder choice to make.

Starting MSRPs for performance luxury sedans with 300+ HP:
335i: $45.4k
R-Spec: $47.7k
S4: $48.1k
CLA 45: $48.3k
M Hybrid: $54.7k
535i: $55.1k
C 63: $57.2k
IS-F: $63.3k
550i: $63.9k
CTS-V: $64.5k
I just don't see how someone looks at that list and picks out the FWD biased CLA. That AWD drivetrain has the most loss in it too.

I understand the options adding up. I started the list because the test CLA in the video was $58k. I started to think, "Jesus, for $4k more, I could have an AWD RLX, and for $8k more a CTS-V." If big sedans rule out those two, an IS-F cleans that up nicely.
The R-Spec won't get over $50k.
True. I suppose it can fit in there with the 335i and 535i on the list. Those three would be the bottom feeders of the list though.

Agree. Who would want a boring, non driver involving isolating German car when they could be driving a TL?

The main thing the GT-R has always been criticized for is that its boring & uninvolving Robo-car persona. Go figure I like them.
That being said I really don't think you can match up a car in the $105/120K range with a TL even if the TL has a bigger back seat. But if its a who's got a bigger one Japan or Germany the Bugatti Veyron is a tarted up Volkswagen.

Not sure I fully agree. Audi is your closet bet. For $4k more than a loaded RLX I got A6 with Quattro, 310 HP and close to 400ft/lbs of torque and almost all the features of the RLX. The Germans will always be at least a little more. And I will take Audi's MMI any day over what the RLX has in the confusing dual screens.

The original comment that prompted the vid was German cars are boring. IMHO running side by side with a $370K Ferrari 458 at 170mph in a $50K BMW 4 door sedan is anything but boring. Similar vid with Lamborghini's are common place at the airport runs. Your age suggests you are to young to play but if you ever do get the chance; see if your heart rate does not go up a bit over the resting boring rate as you pass through 165mph.

I mean, it won't be perfect as I'll just select all the stuff from that and create a separate thread and move it back to the TL forum. But, it will at least separate the threads. Let me know, folks.

They should give the AMG version some fender flares.
The car looks "Weak", especially the rear quarter panel.

A Cayman S, at least to me, seems more worth 100k than 70k for a compact MB sedan/coupe. I could see it being around 50-60 & maybe a Black Series in the 70's. Just seems like a lot for what it is.

i just built one... the way i wanted it, $58k.
I am not spending $58k + tax on a 4 banger.

I don't think we are the right demographic for this car. It's more for clueless rich kids. I can see these kids buying this.

So if you want the AMG Sport package or whatever it is called for $2800. The 19" wheels are required but not included ($850)
WTF is that?
Why dont they just say that package cost $3650??

So I really bashed this thing earlier and called it a German Corolla.. I saw one in the parking lot a couple weeks ago. It looked much better than in pictures.
