Thanks for bumping this.
I need to update this - the last few years of the RX8 seemed to have aged pretty well. I've started to really like the overall shape of the car, but as the article above states - the engine kills it. I guess in that regard, it's similar to the FR-S, just with more character.

I remember one of my friends bought one of the first RX8 back in the days and it was the shit... interior was better than most of the sports car at the time.
I think he told me that the engine felt like S2000's F20........ without Vtec... (He also had the S2000).
When i drove it, it felt like it was revving forever without any kind of power across the entire power band
and 13mpg didnt help either.
