Lincoln: Corsair News

Lincoln (NYSE:F) is taking a strong step forward with the arrival of its new MKC crossover, which Ford hopes will help the brand cash in on the growing small SUV and crossover market. Its introduction to the market has been quite anticipated, and leading up to its release, Ford has revealed its price tag.

The MKC, at base, will cost buyers $33,995, inclusive of the necessary destination charges. That puts it at just a bit more than a fully loaded Escape Titanium, on which the car is loosely based, and a bit under the Acura (NYSE:HMC) RDX and the Volvo XC60, which start at $34,520 and $34,850, respectively.

This makes Lincoln’s small utility an aggressively priced entry-level luxury ride, as it comes in well under its competition from Audi (the Q5 starts at $37,300), BMW (the X3 begins at $39,800), and Mercedes (the GLK starts at $37,480).

Buyers can choose from three trim levels, ranging from Premier to Reserve (with Select in between), but there’s no word yet on Lincoln’s Black Label program that is an option for the MKZ sedan.

Premier-loaded MKCs will come standard with active grille shutters, push-button start, remote start, dual-zone climate control, and heated front seats, Autoblog reports. Select –which starts a bit higher, as 1 would expect, at $37,225 — sees the addition of upgraded 18-inch wheels, ambient lighting, daytime running lights, and a Wollsdorf leather-clad steering wheel. The Reserve trim starts at $40,930 and has a panoramic roof, navigation, cooled front seats, and even Wi-Fi capabilities.

With all the options and accoutrements, the Lincoln MKC Reserve will cost $49,370. Each trim has the option of all-wheel drive, and the Select and Reserve trims can be equipped with a Lincoln-exclusive (for now) 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder for $1,140.

Well, Acura...to be honest...I think Ford/Lincoln have done a decent job aligning themselves up in this "affordable" luxury segment. :dunno:

Press release...

The Lincoln Motor Company’s reinvention takes a major step forward today with the unveiling of the all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC small premium utility vehicle.

The Lincoln MKC is a unique creation from the ground up with an assortment of first-in-class features. Its all-new 2.3-liter EcoBoost® engine offers excellent performance while its ingeniously implemented wraparound liftgate is an example of masterful customer convenience.

The luxurious interior embraces driver and passengers alike, and its new and innovative technology personalizes the MKC ownership experience. Lincoln MKC follows the MKZ sedan to become the second all-new Lincoln in as many years as the brand continues its reinvention.

“Lincoln MKC is a perfect blend of inspired automotive design and dynamic driving performance in a segment that has grown in popularity in recent years,” said Jim Farley, executive vice president of Ford global marketing, sales and service and Lincoln. “As a challenger luxury brand, entering this segment is a natural next step for us. MKC will do more than just compete – it will change the way people think about Lincoln.”

Building the right vehicle at the right time

Lincoln MKC – first introduced as a concept vehicle at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit – represents a critical milestone in the company’s plan to expand its lineup.

Arriving on the heels of the all-new and successful 2013 Lincoln MKZ sedan, MKC becomes the second new vehicle in the brand’s plans to introduce four new luxury vehicles by 2016.

MKC gives Lincoln a compelling offering in the small premium utility vehicle segment, the fastest-growing part of the luxury market. The segment has grown by 25 percent since 2012 and by more than 200 percent since 2009. The segment growth is being driven by new luxury buyers who are coming into affluence, as well as by current luxury owners who are moving from larger vehicles to smaller ones as their life desires change.

With MKC, Lincoln continues its move toward targeting a younger, more diverse customer. The vehicle also positions Lincoln to resonate with drivers in desirable markets on the East and West coasts.

Designed to inspire inside and out

The Lincoln design team faced the dual challenge of creating a standout vehicle in a competitive field, while further refining the Lincoln design DNA that started with the 2013 MKZ. From its signature split-wing grille to its uniquely crafted, hands-free wraparound liftgate, the Lincoln DNA is evident.

“Our design team worked tirelessly to create a vehicle that attracts new customers to the brand while meeting the expectations of longtime Lincoln drivers,” said Max Wolff, director, Lincoln Design. “The execution of the new liftgate is a prime example of how a premium design element can create a better customer experience.”

MKC presents a sleek, sculpted body that helps it stand out among peers. Its high beltline and low shoulders create a sturdy, athletic presence, while features such as soft exterior lighting, pedestal side-view mirrors and an available panoramic, all-glass Vista Roof® give the vehicle a luxurious, sophisticated personality.

The unique design also carries through to the interior, where craftsmanship and high-tech combine to offer a warm, luxurious environment. An architecturally unique instrument panel showcases Lincoln’s signature push-button gear shifter, which provides an open, inviting interior space. Plush leathers with French stitching, and available Bridge of Weir leather and real wood trim accentuate MKC’s elegance and grace.

“We gave attention to every detail to convey a stylish, fashion-oriented vehicle,” said Soo Kang, Lincoln interior design chief. “Our use of colors, materials, stitching – every detail was considered to create an overall luxurious experience.”

To be more consistent with the Lincoln driving experience, an all-new Lincoln steering wheel debuts on MKC and will be available on all future Lincoln vehicles. This highly tactile leather-wrapped wheel provides better feeling and control and puts the brand’s new design DNA in the driver’s hands.

The enhanced THX® II Certified Audio System, an industry-first featuring THX-distributed bass technology and 14 right-, center- and left-slot speaker assemblies, is available. The state-of-the-art audio system delivers a rich, immersive surround sound experience that reproduces music as it was mixed in the studio.

SYNC® with MyLincoln Touch™ enables drivers to personalize MKC by using voice-activated commands or simple touch controls on the class-exclusive 8-inch touch screen. Knobs and buttons on the center console provide additional and easy access to control the air conditioning and sound system.

Lincoln luxury meets dynamic performance

When equipped with the all-new 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, MKC offers a projected 275 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 300 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,000 rpm, according to preliminary test data. Class-exclusive Active Grille Shutters are designed to help improve MKC fuel efficiency at highway speeds.

MKC comes standard with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder turbocharged engine, projected to produce 240 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 270 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,000 rpm, according to preliminary test data. This makes Lincoln MKC an all-EcoBoost vehicle.
MKC comes standard with front-wheel drive and 18-inch wheels. Drivers can upgrade to Lincoln’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive and 19-inch wheels for enhanced cornering and handling and an even sportier look.

The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system also includes Continuously Controlled Damping. Drivers can use Lincoln Drive Control to select from sport, comfort and normal drive modes to cater to their driving mood. CCD constantly monitors the road; the suspension reacts on average within 20 milliseconds, providing a smooth ride with enhanced handling.
CCD also is available in the standard front-wheel drive configuration of MKC.

“The width of MKC’s track has been set to allow the designers the freedom to create a planted stance for the vehicle, and it provided engineers the opportunity to minimize body roll and give the vehicle a more sporty feel,” said Lisa Drake, MKC chief engineer.

Technology provides protection, confidence

MKC offers advanced technology such as collision warning with brake support, a Lane-Keeping System and driver assist to help drivers avoid common accidents. The collision warning system is designed to alert the driver if it detects a potential front-end crash. The system issues an audible alert in the cabin, a visual alert on the windshield and automatic brake assist sensitivity.

MKC introduces available park-out assist technology, a class-exclusive feature that enhances the vehicle’s active park assist capabilities. Where active park assist helps guide drivers into tight parallel parking situations, park-out assist steers drivers out of tight parking spots.

The vehicle’s Lane-Keeping System uses rearview mirror-mounted cameras to identify lane markers and help drivers avoid unintentionally straying from their lane. If the system detects a driver’s alertness level dropping below a given threshold, a warning is issued via a chime and a pop-up message appears on the left-hand cluster screen.

MKC also offers a Blind Spot Information System, which continuously monitors the vehicle’s blind spots with radar sensors, and class-exclusive cross-traffic alert, which detects traffic as the vehicle backs from a parking space.

Driver confidence and safety is furthered by the inclusion of seven standard airbags, including a class-exclusive driver’s knee airbag. In preparing MKC for the road, the vehicle was subjected to 5,000 virtual and real-world crash tests and a variety of conditions.

Experience Lincoln’s uniquely warm reception

MKC will greet owners with exclusive Approach Detection, which senses when an owner is near and responds by illuminating “welcome mats” on the ground next to both front doors. Simultaneously, headlamps, taillamps and door handles glow with soft lighting tuned to complement the vehicle’s exterior color.

MKC will be the first Lincoln to have always-on built-in connectivity, allowing owners to utilize a smartphone app to control the vehicle. With the MyLincoln Mobile™ app, MKC owners can start, lock, unlock and locate the vehicle, as well as schedule a remote start event for a set time.

Drivers also can use the app to place a call for roadside assistance, monitor the vehicle’s fuel level, check tire pressure and battery status, and program engine start times to allow the vehicle to heat or cool to comfortable levels.

Lincoln MKC production is slated to begin in the second quarter of 2014 at Louisville Assembly Plant in Louisville, Ky. Vehicles are due in showrooms next summer.

The new 2019 Lincoln MKC is poised to attract even more luxury SUV buyers, thanks to its commanding new design, driver-focused technologies like automatic emergency braking and pedestrian collision avoidance, and an effortless ownership experience that builds on Lincoln's exclusive Pickup and Delivery service.

Since its introduction in 2014, Lincoln MKC has introduced more people to the Lincoln brand than any other vehicle, with nearly half of all clients coming from other brands. Women account for more than half of MKC sales and, in turn, are driving growth in this luxury segment, which has increased 29 percent over the past decade.

"Our redesigned Lincoln MKC offers style, substance and technologies that create an effortless ownership experience," said Kumar Galhotra, president, The Lincoln Motor Company. "We recognize it takes a lot to attract a buyer from other luxury competitors, but the Lincoln MKC has that kind of appeal. We believe the new MKC will capture even more luxury clients."

Eye-catching from any angle
The 2019 Lincoln MKC exemplifies the refined new face of Lincoln. The signature grille evokes a sense of confidence, and beautifully detailed LED headlamps illuminate the road with crisp lighting designed to minimize eyestrain. A new rear design features attractive chrome highlights that enhance the appearance from all angles.

LED lighting in the lower front body and tail lamps subtly illuminates to greet clients upon approach, and a luminous Lincoln welcome mat appears beneath both front doors to light the way for driver and passenger. During the day, an available panoramic roof fills the cabin with natural light.

Inside, the cabin is quiet, warm and inviting, replete with plush, soft-to-the-touch materials. Lincoln craftsmanship is apparent in every detail, from the available heated and cooled seats to standard WiFi and USB ports throughout, allowing everyone to stay connected.[WK1]

For those seeking a more personalized experience, Lincoln Black Label is available for the new MKC. Lincoln Black Label not only provides the best level of materials in custom designer themes, but also offers a host of membership privileges. These include annual vehicle detailing, anytime carwashes, and access to a list of select restaurants where noted chefs will provide a curated dining experience.

The three Lincoln Black Label themes for the new MKC have drawn inspiration from the realms of the arts, travel, fine food and culture. The themes are:
  • Modern Heritage: A timeless ensemble of elegance without ostentation, Modern Heritage is perfect for those who appreciate a clean, modern aesthetic. This theme features seats in Vianca [RC2] White Venetian leather finished with the Lincoln Black Label star insignia, with Argento wood accents.
  • Indulgence: A rich, sumptuous interior, this theme is designed to match the most refined tastes. Visually enticing, Indulgence features surfaces trimmed in Venetian leather and Alcantara® cloth, in tempting hues like Truffle and Ganache, finished with accents from rich Ziricote wood - the same as you might find in the world of yachts or musical instruments.
  • Center Stage: Inspired by the fashion of the theater, Center Stage captures the excitement of a curtain skirting across the main stage on opening night. It features an exclusive diamond-L perforation pattern on the Alcantara cloth inserts, finished with meticulously stitched Foxfire Red piping. Exotic wood accents enhance the architectural design, while Jet Black Venetian leather accented by Firefox Red adds a dramatic flair.
In line with Lincoln's commitment to offering inspired interior environments, the new Lincoln MKC also will feature a rich Rialto Green cabin with black ash wood accents, available on Reserve models. This new deep green is inspired by the vibrant tones emanating from the world of high fashion.

Technology that inspires confidence
Because today's luxury clients expect to be constantly connected, the new Lincoln MKC offers standard SYNC® 3 with both Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility, enabling occupants to manage audio, phone, navigation and more from the vehicle touchscreen or steering wheel-mounted controls.

A suite of driver-assist technologies designed to inspire confidence includes Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection. This system is designed to reduce the severity of - and in some cases eliminate - frontal collisions, including those involving pedestrians. It uses advanced radar and camera sensors to provide a collision warning to the driver. If the driver does not respond in time, the system can automatically apply the brakes.

Available active park assist can reduce parking anxiety by helping guide drivers in to and out of tight parallel-parking spaces. Other available technologies include lane-keeping alert and Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert.

Luxury meets performance
Three technologies - turbocharging, direct injection and twin independent variable camshaft timing - are responsible for a powerful engine offering for the new Lincoln MKC. This twin-scroll turbocharged 2.3-liter engine producing 285 horsepower and 305 lb.-ft. of torque allows Lincoln MKC to offer an available towing capacity of 3,000 pounds when properly equipped.

Both the powerful turbocharged 2.3-liter and the standard turbocharged 2.0-liter engine delivering 245 horsepower are designed to be exhilarating and fuel efficient. Either option can be paired to Lincoln's intelligent all-wheel-drive system, which delivers enhanced all-weather capabilities and sportier performance.

Effortless ownership
Effortless ownership with the new Lincoln MKC is offered through the Lincoln Way™ app. Lincoln Way enables clients to start, lock, unlock and locate their MKC, as well as schedule remote starts to allow the vehicle to heat or cool to comfortable levels. Lincoln Concierge, which allows owners to schedule Pickup and Delivery for vehicle service, as well as find and reserve parking, is also available through the app.

The brand's increased focus on offerings that provide an effortless ownership experience now includes standard Pickup and Delivery. The service can pick up a client's vehicle at an agreed location, then take it to a dealership for service, providing a complimentary Lincoln loaner vehicle. Once service is complete, clients can arrange for their washed and serviced vehicle to be returned to them at a location of their choice.

Lincoln remains the only luxury automaker to provide Pickup and Delivery as a standard service for all vehicles to save its clients time and effort.

Galhotra says Lincoln's commitment to being a world-class brand goes well beyond its exceptional vehicles.

"For Lincoln, every client is unique and and we want every element of the Lincoln shop, buy and own process to be a truly personalized and effortless experience," he said.

IMO, not a bad looking little SUV.
Definitely not a fan of Lincoln's brown stereo theme :ugly:
I'd be flashing that over to GT Blue first thing.

oonowindoo 11-21-2017 04:32 PM

Not bad. But that center console reminds me of 2003 Acura/Lexus. Would it kill them to cover it in black piano wood instead of matte black plastic?

SamDoe1 11-21-2017 04:40 PM

Looks like a budget Q5, this thing will probably sell like hotcakes if they market it enough. Most people don't even realize Lincoln still exists.

New grille design isn't really an improvement over the old.

It's a lot better than before but it would look much better if it didn't have an inch of chrome on each bottom corner.

Also seems like way too many hard materials on the dash.

Reaching over to select the gears also seems pretty awkward.

But what's best about it is the engine offerings. Very capable.

Lincoln Corsair to replace MKC, report says | Fox News

Finally! The official car of swashbucklers is on the way.

Lincoln reportedly plans to call its next SUV the Corsair, which originally described a type of pirate or privateer, as well as the fast ships they sailed on. It was also the name of an American fighter plane that debuted during World War 2.

Both the nautical and aeronautical connections fall in line with the latest naming convention for Lincoln’s SUV lineup, which includes the Navigator and upcoming Aviator.

According to Automotive News, Lincoln’s dealers were told last month that it was planning to use the Corsair name for the replacement for the current MKC compact utility. Parent company Ford registered for a trademark on the name last summer.

Lincoln is introducing an updated version of the MKC for 2019, but opted not to change the name ahead of the all-new model’s debut for the 2021 model year.

Corsair has never been used for a Lincoln model before, but there was a line of Fords built in the UK under the name in the 1960s, and another sold in Australia from 1989 to 1992 that was a rebranded Nissan sedan.

00TL-P3.2 03-11-2019 09:56 AM

https://www.carscoops.com/2019/03/20...c-replacement/

Goodbye MKC, hello Corsair! Lincoln’s compact crossover is (reportedly) ditching the confusing three-letter, naming nomenclature in favor of something much more memorable. And following in the aviation-inspired footsteps of its larger Aviator sibling, it has a sleek all-new look.

However, will it help sales hit new heights for the blue oval’s luxury division? Let’s take an illustrative, pre-launch glimpse at what to expect from Lincoln’s smallest CUV offering.

So at first glance, you could be fooled into thinking you are looking at just another Aviator. In fact, the silhouette, floating roof design and front-end could almost be a dead-ringer of the Corsair’s larger brother. Yet it is actually different.

While smaller dimensions are the most obvious difference, the Corsair also has stubbier proportions, sleek LED headlamps, simpler lower frontal styling and an evolution of the clam-shell tailgate that debuted on the MKC. Its tapered roofline helps exude a sportier appearance compared to its bigger sibling too.

While the outgoing MKC had interior styling links to Ford’s more mundane offerings, the Corsair is expected to be a unique and luxurious affair. Following on from the aeronautical interior theme found in the Aviator, the cabin will feature vast swathes of real wood, chrome and quality leathers. On top of that, Black Label-specific design packages will push the luxury envelope further again.

A large touch-screen with Sync 3 dominates the center dash, with slim line vents, piano key-like gear selector and heating and ventilation controls located below. Other tech goodies should include a customizable LCD instrument cluster, smartphone enabled lock/unlock access and Lincoln’s Co-Pilot360 suite of driver assists; including traffic jam assist, evasive steering aid, reverse braking aid, and active park assist.

Powertrains will likely mirror those found in the new Ford Escape. These include a 2.0-litre Ecoboost four-cylinder pumping out 245 hp, a 2.3-litre turbo producing north of 285 hp and 2.5-litre plug-in hybrid option. Front-wheel drive will be standard, with all-wheel drive being optional. Power will be sent to the pavement via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Like its Escape sibling, the Corsair will move away from the current C1 architecture that underpins the old MKC. It will ride an all-new global architecture which forms the basis for the all-new Focus (the one that isn’t coming to America). The new platform will aid in increased torsional stiffness, crash protection and interior packaging.

The crossover boom shows no sign of abating, hence why Lincoln are going all-out across the board (although they’re yet to offer a smaller, Lexus UX rival). Still, will the Corsair appeal to those who would normally gravitate towards the European establishment? Time will tell.

It’ll certainly have a tough fight against the likes of the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Cadillac XT5, Volvo XC60, Lexus RX, Acura RDX, Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Jaguar F-Pace.

Prototypes have already been spotted wearing thing disguise, so we anticipate a reveal in the near future – possibly even as early as New York’s International Auto Show in April. Sales will likely start before year’s end as a MY2020 offering.

the Corsair and Aviator are super :pimp:

biker 04-17-2019 09:33 AM

Lincoln showed its new small crossover, the Corsair, at the New York auto show. The name, from a World War II fighter plane, was also used on an Edsel trim level back in the day. The crossover’s task: Build on the momentum Lincoln’s Navigator and Aviator started, in one of the toughest market segments.

Riding on the fourth-generation Escape’s flexible front- and all-wheel-drive platform, the Corsair looks like a small Navigator -- a good thing. There are two turbo four-cylinder engines available: a 2.0-liter (250 hp, 275 lb-ft) and a 2.3-liter (280 hp, 310 lb-ft). Both are mated to an eight-speed automatic. All-wheel drive is available with either engine, switching from front to all four depending on conditions. Surely a plug-in hybrid is coming too, but we don’t know when.

https://autoweek.com/sites/default/f...c/image2_3.jpghttps://autoweek.com/sites/default/f...c/image3_3.jpg
Lincoln wants its cars and trucks to be relaxing sanctuaries, and as such it really sweated some Corsair details: There’s a dual-wall firewall meant to cut engine noise, and soothing chimes recorded by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (not kidding). The interior has optional 24-way adjustable seats with massage, while the sliding back seat has more legroom than a Mercedes GLS, Lincoln says.

Standard safety tech includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, a blind-spot information system, a lane keeping system and the mandatory rear backup camera.

Phone as a Key is optional, allowing you to lock and unlock the car and open the tailgate through a smartphone. Head-up display and adaptive cruise control are among the other options available.

The Lincoln Corsair goes on sale this fall, with prices coming closer to launch. Our guess is a starting price around $35,000.

2021 Corsair Grand Touring

https://www.netcarshow.com/lincoln/2...grand_touring/

Lincoln's all-new Corsair Grand Touring arrived, bringing to luxury SUV buyers a plug-in hybrid option that delivers performance, features and technologies that are uniquely Lincoln.

"Corsair Grand Touring taps into Lincoln's growing momentum and builds on our commitment to electrification," said Joy Falotico, president, The Lincoln Motor Company. "With the addition of Corsair Grand Touring, we now have a family of SUVs that is distinctly Lincoln for every client."

Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring provides a second plug-in hybrid option from Lincoln, following the launch of the all-new Aviator Grand Touring in fall 2019.

Lincoln-first dual-powertrain technology

A specially engineered 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and advanced hybrid technology work to deliver effortless acceleration in the all-new Corsair Grand Touring. This is complemented by Lincoln-first electric all-wheel drive - a first in its segment.

Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring's hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder gas engine and a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a combined targeted output of 266 horsepower, based on Lincoln's calculations using computer engineering simulations. This configuration of hybrid technology paired with electric all-wheel drive has a targeted EPA-estimated all-electric range of more than 25 miles.

With the PowerSplit electric continuously variable transmission, two electric motors work together to provide an extremely smooth driving experience. The addition of electric all-wheel drive powers the rear wheels and provides performance and capability in situations where power to all four wheels is needed.

"The advanced hybrid powertrain provides a step-up offering in our lineup, delivering effortless acceleration and all-wheel-drive capability that is unique to this segment," said Patrick Smith, Lincoln Corsair chief engineer. "The gliding, responsive take-off makes Corsair Grand Touring a powerful, balanced and nimble SUV to drive."

Lincoln drive modes allow drivers to customize the Corsair Grand Touring experience. Standard modes include Normal, Conserve, Excite, Slippery and Deep Conditions, with each mode fully integrated - clients simply make the selection and Corsair Grand Touring takes care of the rest. Two additional modes are specially tuned and calibrated to enhance the drive. These include:
  • Preserve EV recharges and saves battery power for a later time, while continuing to use both engine and motor to deliver the full performance drivers expect; the high-voltage battery can be recharged up to 75 percent while driving in this mode
  • Pure EV is designed to keep the driver in all-electric mode in many conditions; should demand exceed electric capability, the hybrid engine seamlessly engages to provide additional power
Sanctuary for the senses

As quietness is paramount, Lincoln designers and engineers obsessed over each detail to create a sanctuary for the senses in the all-new Corsair Grand Touring. Corsair's electrified powertrain enhances its whisper-quiet cabin.

Additional sound-dampening materials between the engine compartment and cabin contribute to Corsair's whisper-quiet ride. Active Noise Control enhances overall sound quality by using strategically placed microphones throughout the cabin to find specific frequencies that contribute to noise and cancel them out.

Like Corsair, Grand Touring is cleverly packaged so interior roominess and storage space match the active lifestyle of clients. Sliding second-row seats offer up to 6 inches of travel and a 60/40 fold-flat or split-bench option. With seats in the full forward position and four passengers aboard, Corsair can accommodate four sets of golf clubs or up to four full-size pieces of luggage. Advanced under-floor battery packaging in Corsair Grand Touring allows for all the benefits of an electrified powertrain while maximizing luggage space and legroom.

Working to ensure weekend road trips are more comfortable, Lincoln's Perfect Position seats are available to offer 24-way adjustability, massage capability and additional lumbar support for driver and front passenger.

A unique grille with the Lincoln star in Spirit Blue is designed to give Corsair Grand Touring instant recognizability. Additional Spirit Blue in the badging, along with unique 20-inch wheels also contribute to its distinct look.

Customizable technologies

Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring delivers a wealth of intuitive technologies that allow clients to personalize their driving experience. Lincoln's available Phone As A Key technology, activated using the Lincoln Way™ app, offers effortless functionality before clients even climb aboard.

It allows owners to lock and unlock, open the liftgate and, most importantly, start and drive the vehicle - all without a traditional key. Drivers also can recall individual preferences for adjusting seat, mirrors and steering column positions, and comfort and entertainment settings can be activated through the feature as well.

Corsair also comes with a wealth of standard and available driver-assist features. Standard Lincoln Co-Pilot360™ includes Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection with Cross-Traffic Alert, a Lane-Keeping System, rearview camera and auto high beam headlamps. An available upgrade, Lincoln Co-Pilot360 Plus, adds Adaptive Cruise Control with Traffic Jam Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, Reverse Brake Assist and Active Park Assist Plus.

Also available is Lincoln's Head-Up Display, which shows selected information on the windshield instead of the instrument cluster, allowing drivers to keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.

The all-new Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring will be built at Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky. It will be available in summer 2020.

The 2020 Lincoln Corsair is a compelling alternative to the compact luxury crossover establishment. It’s distinctively stylish inside and out, very spacious, and it clearly focuses on comfort rather than performance. Not only that, it has a base price that's thousands of dollars cheaper than its German rivals.

It has a couple of drawbacks. Its quest for comfort does sacrifice some of its handling capability, and its overseas rivals still have nicer cabin materials. But there are enough positives that you’ll still want to give the Corsair a closer look.
The Lincoln Corsair is a completely new model introduced this year. It replaces the Lincoln MKC, and like that crossover, the Corsair still shares its platform with the Ford Escape.

While the Corsair is based on the Ford Escape, you wouldn’t be able to tell from the inside, and that’s a very good thing. The little Lincoln crossover has a unique interior, both in relation to the Escape and to the rest of its luxury segment. There's nothing remotely like it. The dashboard itself is low and wide, emphasized by the split-level design and the faux full-width air vent. The center stack has a cantilevered design that floats above the center console area and features chrome-plated switches and knobs. Base models get a stylish pinstriped aluminum trim panel on the dash paired with one of three upholstery color options including black, gray and beige. However, the Reserve steps things up considerably with differing wood and metal trim choices that correspond to the expanded leather color options that include a camel tan and dark turquoise (pictured above). All Corsairs get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system mounted high on the dash within easy sight and reach. It uses a reskinned version of the latest Ford SYNC interface. The layout is straightforward and easy to navigate, and the more muted color options on the Lincoln system are easier on the eyes than the stark white Ford version. It’s a little bit slow to load new menus, though, and this carries over to the optional 12.3-inch instrument cluster screen available on the Reserve trim. The Corsair comes standard with an analog instrument cluster with a 6.5-inch info screen. We appreciate that many stereo and climate controls have dedicated switches and knobs on the center stack, and they have a nice heft to their actions.

The Corsair falls into the compact class of luxury crossovers, and although it’s significantly larger than its MKC predecessor, its exterior dimensions still put it on the slightly small side versus some of its competitors such as the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. However, it’s really quite large inside. It has more cargo space than the Q5, Cadillac XT4, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class and Lexus NX. The X3 is about the only competitor with more room for stuff.

As for passenger comfort, the Corsair is pleasant enough. Front passengers have a choice of two power seats, either standard 10-way or available 24-way "Perfect Position" seats. Both have about the same seat shape. We recommend trying them yourself, as not all of our editors have liked them. One of them felt they were too tight while another found them to be reasonably comfortable with wide cushions and supportive bolsters. There’s plenty of head-, leg- and shoulder room for front occupants, though. The rear seats are a bit flat, but have sliding and reclining adjustment for additional comfort and expanding cargo space. With the rear seats moved fully rearward, the Corsair has an enormous amount of legroom.

Corsair offers a choice of two engines. The standard engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is optional and like every Corsair, it comes with an eight-speed automatic.

Optional on the Reserve trim is the turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder that makes 295 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is standard.

You can see the full fuel economy numbers for all powertrain combinations below, but as you can see, the bigger engine doesn't really differ from the base.

· 2.0-liter FWD: 22 City / 29 Highway / 25 Combined

· 2.0-liter AWD: 21 City / 29 Highway / 24 Combined

· 2.3-liter AWD: 21 City / 28 Highway / 24 Combined

While not available for this model year, it’s worth noting that Lincoln will also offer a plug-in hybrid Corsair called the Grand Touring for the 2021 model year. It uses a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder and electric motor for the front wheels and an electric motor for the rear wheels. Total output is 266 horsepower, and its 14.4-kWh battery provides an estimated 26 miles of electric range. Further details such as fuel economy have not yet been announced, but should become available close to the launch later in 2020.

The Corsair exhibits some more traditional American luxury car driving characteristics, for better and for worse. Neither engine is underpowered, but the available 2.3-liter engine is the one to go for if you can afford it. Besides not losing much in the way of fuel economy, you have an abundance of horsepower and torque that propels the Corsair smoothly and effortlessly as a cushy luxury car should. The transmission isn’t especially quick on shifts, but it’s just as slick as the power delivery.

Also impressive is the quiet and isolating cabin. Only the faintest engine noises and occasional large bumps contribute to the interior’s soundscape. It makes for a calming place to while away the hours on long trips or stop-and-go commutes.

The Corsair could use some work in the suspension and chassis department, though. In most circumstances, except the “Excite” mode on models with adaptive suspension, the tuning is extra soft. This cushions the blows of big bumps and eliminates little imperfections. But big bumps, crests or dips can result in unpleasant bobbing for several moments after the initial hit, just like old American luxury barges. There’s also a fair bit of nose dive and lift under braking and acceleration, and it doesn’t feel very planted when cornering hard. In a Corsair with adaptive suspension, “Excite” mode does firm things up, but it becomes a bit harsh over rough pavement.

The Corsair only has two trim levels: Standard and Reserve. Standard starts at $36,940 and Reserve starts at $43,625. Regardless of trim, the Corsair comes standard with the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is an option on both trims, and the Reserve has the higher-output 2.3-liter engine available as an option, which comes exclusively with all-wheel drive.

Notable standard features for the Standard trim include 18-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, 10-way power front seats, leatherette upholstery (vinyl), an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 6.5-inch screen in the instrument cluster, and a 10-speaker sound system.

The Reserve trim includes or replaces the above standard features with 19-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, hands-free power liftgate, auto-dimming driver-side mirror, a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, leather upholstery (optional on Standard trim), power-adjustable steering wheel, ambient lighting, upgraded interior trim, voice-activated navigation and a 14-speaker sound system. The Reserve also has a number of exclusive options, which include the ability to use a phone as the car key, a 12.3-inch instrument panel screen, a heads-up display, 24-way power adjustable seats and a wider choice of leather colors.

All Corsairs come standard with a suite of safety features called Co-Pilot360. This includes forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist and automatic high-beam headlights. Lincoln also has an optional Co-Pilot360 Plus which adds reverse automatic emergency braking, lane-centering, evasive steering assist, adaptive cruise control and automatic parking.

The Lincoln Corsair has earned impressive crash test scores. The government gave the Corsair a top five-star rating overall, for frontal crash testing and side crash testing. It received a four-star rating for rollover risk. It is also an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick, having received the highest “Good” rating for all crash tests. It also received top marks for its standard forward collision prevention system both for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian. The optional collision prevention system got the highest “Superior” score for vehicle-to-vehicle testing, but the second highest “Advanced” score for vehicle-to-pedestrian testing. Keeping it from earning the ultimate Top Safety Pick+ rating were standard headlights that were rated “Poor” and optional headlights that were rated “Acceptable.”

The new 2023 Lincoln Corsair makes its debut with segment-first features, including available Lincoln ActiveGlide 1.2 hands-free features for speeds up to 80 mph, delivering an even more intuitive and effortless experience. With the addition of Lincoln ActiveGlide, Lincoln clients will enjoy even more capability and functionality in the new Corsair.

"Corsair is artistically crafted and expertly designed to attract younger Lincoln clients and give them the luxury experience they desire," said Michael Sprague, North America director, Lincoln. "We want the drive experience to be even more effortless and personal and the new Corsair will deliver that with advanced technology and new features."

Connected technology, refined

The new 2023 Lincoln Corsair is the first vehicle in the segment to get advanced, hands-free ADAS features for highway driving. Lincoln ActiveGlide 1.2 introduces new available features to Corsair, including:
  • Lane Change Assist can help drivers move through traffic on the freeway with more confidence while using ActiveGlide. The system will perform a hands-free lane change when the driver taps the turn signal, and it can even suggest a lane change in slow-moving traffic.
  • Predictive Speed Assist automatically and smoothly adjusts the speed as drivers approach a sharp curve and will signal the driver ahead of time when a speed change is about to occur.
  • In-Lane Repositioning makes the hands-free highway driving experience feel more natural, keeping the vehicle in its lane while subtly shifting it away from vehicles in adjacent lanes - especially helpful when next to bigger vehicles.
  • Intersection Assist 2.0 helps clients avoid potential collisions with pedestrians while turning. Corsair will also debut Blind Spot Assist, which will alert the driver with a light on the sideview mirror, applying a nudge in the steering system to help caution against an unsafe action in a case where the driver has missed warnings from the Blind Spot Information System. This feature will detect other vehicles and motorcyclists in Corsair's blind spots.
Available Auto Air Refresh is a holistic air filtration and active air monitoring system. Using Corsair's standard cabin particulate and odor filter, Auto Air Refresh helps clean the cabin air by filtering out particles caused by atmospheric dust, tobacco smoke, smog and some allergens, including pollen.

Meanwhile, an enhanced interior places an emphasis on the brand's horizontal, signature design. The center stack screen grows to an impressive 13.2 inches, and features SYNC®4 technology and Lincoln Enhance software updates. The driver's 12.3-inch LCD cluster will also come standard, with the Lincoln-unique Constellation digital interface.

Corsair will also offer the Alexa Built-in hands-free experience with complimentary connectivity to Alexa for three years. Clients can use Alexa to listen to music, navigate, control smart home devices, add items to a shopping list and more, using voice commands such as "Alexa, find the closest gas station," or "Alexa, play my road trip playlist."

New design, inside and out

A new and larger grille and wing-shaped daytime running lamps give Lincoln Corsair a fresh face and a more dynamic, youthful presence.

The Corsair Grand Touring grille features a sundown satin metallic foil with blue accents that give a warmer tone. Coupled with new, available wheel options that enhance personalization, the new Corsair boasts a sleek, modern exterior look.

"Evolving the design of the popular Corsair was an exciting challenge, and our team accomplished this in a dynamic way," said Kemal Curic, global design director, Lincoln. "With the new Corsair we are offering a glimpse into Lincoln's new exterior design language and introducing new and more youthful colors and materials that allow our clients make their vehicle their own."

Two new interior themes will be available on Corsair:
  • Smoked Truffle is a mid-tone, neutral space with medium-dark soft trim accents to create a warmer, rich environment. Smoked Truffle creates a restorative color space for clients - intended to be both contemporary and familiar.
  • Eternal Red is the tasteful new color that creates a more youthful, fresh look. Pista aluminum accents, exclusive to the Eternal Red theme, will also be introduced on the 2023 Corsair. Lincoln's take on this red space is deeper and richer, providing a sense of warmth and calm, while still providing energy to the interior.
Two new exterior colors are also available - Crystal Red and, new to Lincoln, Whisper Blue. The Jet Appearance Package is also available on Corsair.

A streamlined lower instrument cluster below the center stack screen creates a spacious front row, making placing and accessing items in the media bin effortless. A new available backlit applique shines light through a perforated star light pattern, providing Lincoln's signature constellation effect.

"Color plays a major role in complementing Corsair's beautiful design," said Liam Butler, color and materials designer, Lincoln. "Refreshing colors and themes create an ambiance that shift the mood of the interior, creating a warm environment and a luxurious experience that is uniquely Lincoln."

Lincoln Corsair will be available in both 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine with a 250-horsepower rating, and as the 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid Corsair Grand Touring with a 266 combined horsepower rating. The intelligent all-wheel drive system allows for enhanced all-weather capabilities and bold performance, optimizing efficiency by seamlessly switching between front-and-all-wheel drive, depending on road conditions.

Drivers can further customize Corsair with Lincoln's signature drive modes: Normal, Excite, Slippery and Conserve. Two additional modes enhance the plug-in hybrid electric driving experience:
  • Preserve EV saves the battery power while continuing to use both engine and motor.
  • Pure EV is designed to keep the driver in all-electric mode in many conditions. The hybrid engine seamlessly engages to provide additional power if needed.
The Lincoln Corsair is built at Louisville Assembly Plant in Louisville, Kentucky.

Looks nice imo

 For a lux Escape, not a bad choice.
Thinking about taking a look at the Bronco Sport Badlands for me, since we got the MiniBus [Expedition Max] to replace the Flex.

It definitely looks very nice.

Scroll up and look at the older posts... HUGE improvement with this new styling. Both interior and exterior.
