Interior is quite a departure from the last model. Looks nice.

Back of the car just looks a little off to me though

I think I'm in love

Very un-toyota like to have an engine that out powers Honda's and Nissan's of similar size.

I still think the new 3-Series, save for the rear, looks better. But the interior is very nice looking. I think they went a little overboard with the metal trimming on the console and the door handles, as the big metal plate on the center stack draws enough attention. But overall still very nice.

all I can say is, oh man. But honestly, how the Lexus give a cheaper car more HP? (IS to GS). Just does not make sense to me.

I don't like how the taillights has amber. Should just be all red.

I read it was LED somewhere, but dont remember. And they certainly dont look it. It does however look like LED's used for the rear parking lights.

Good high res pics. THat instrument cluster looks great.

It's amazing how similar the dash of this new IS is to the TSX dash. Uncanny...

Anyone else get the impression that Lexus doesn’t want you to do anything under the hood yourself besides checking the oil and filling the washer fluid?

Look at the button panel near the driver door. Look at the cut lines on the dash between the dark color and light color. Look at the sweep of the dash. All very very similar. It might just be the result of homologation amongst Japanese brands, but wow...

Can u put up an interior pic to refresh my memory?? If I recall, I really dont think theres much of a similarity. If anything, I think the interior is more like the GS300/430 with obvious differences in places.

The ugly feeling of "should have waited" is starting to creep up, somebody please rationalize my TSX purchase for me...

I have a kid coming this spring... I needed a 4-door automatic... Couldn't wait for the IS... 350 would be too expensive... but I would have had more money... no no, can't think that way...

Belzebutt, the bottom line is, something better is always going to come along, so you can't just keep on waiting forever.... and more importantly, we do not know that the IS is any better than the TSX! No one here has driven it yet!

Also, though the base price of the IS 250 is reportedly 29K, after you have added on the premium sound system and the navi, it's going to be close to the price of a TL with navi... so if you have a kid coming this spring, save up your pennies for a sports wagon or SUV later!

Official press release from NY auto show.

http://my.is/forums/showthread.php?t=246412

Looks like there will be no 6MT for the IS350 in the first year. Hopefully, Lexus will bring in the 6MT IS350 into the US market in its 2nd year.

IS250 with just barely over 200HP and only barely over 180 LB-FT of torque and an IS350 with over 100 more HP?

Why?? Wouldn't that make those IS250 guys feel rather inadequate?

I am sure if 4 cylinder 200hp, 166lbs torque TSXs can sell well, this will too.

I'm not arguing that it won't sell well, I'm just saying that the IS250 drivers will feel kind of cheated that they're getting so little HP in comparison to the IS350 drivers.

The only prob is it seems Acura and Infiniti look like they will perform very close to the same as the higher powered IS with less hp- high 5's. 2nd the g35 and TL have a 6-speed manual available, which I'm sure in the g35's case will be faster than the IS. 3rd, Toyota said they wouldn't enter the hp war, haha.

The Acura is ~27k for the most part loaded. The Is300 won't work on that system, will be ~ 30k for the base with options leading up to high 30k's. Considering the g35 and tl are in the market it will seem underpowered.

If the Is250 had the 240hp it would be perfect because the car has the luxury.

Current rumor is IS250 will have at least 200HP. I've heard 220HP but could be more.

I don't see the difference between this and the guys who buy a BMW 325 or a Merc. C-240. Some people don't care as much about 0-60 and just want to drive a nice car.
I'm not one of those people but I can understand it.

With a sharp new look, a finely tuned rear-wheel-drive chassis and luxurious cabin, all the fresh Lexus IS range needs now is a high-performance flagship -and this week's mag has the pictures to prove it.

One thing which will set the IS500 apart will be economy. Engineers are focused on developing a motor which not only produces massive muscle, but also uses very little fuel when cruising.

The car will feature a 5.0-litre V8 boasting 400bhp. Insiders say it is a bored-out version of the 350bhp 4.6 unit destined for the bigger Lexus LS next year. Expect a sub-six-second 0-60mph sprint, with top speed limited to 155mph. Unveiled in production trim at the Geneva Motor Show last month, the all-new IS will go on sale in the UK later this year.

At launch, a 2.5-litre V6 petrol and 2.2 diesel will be the only models available. Development of the V8 is ongoing, so it will not appear until 2006.

4.0 liters from the next M3, 5.0 liters from the IS And you know which one will be more money (or less money, for that matter).

What a great time to be a car enthusiast!

If they can equal the M3's all around performance for less money they should win every car of the year honor there is.
