Lexus: RC News

Itz JDM y0!
I'm sorry to say it, but the more I see it, I think Lexus will produce my next car rather then Acura or BMW..
New M3 is too soft IMO.
And Acura needs to get of their Ass and make a performance division.

Go with other brands. So many great cars are on the market.

I don't think pricing is in the guide I put up, but RC350 should be 44-45k, and RSF around 70k according to dealers. Of course Lexus corp. could change pricing but it will be close to those figures.

It'll probably be similar to IS350/IS-F pricing.

Lovely shade of blue!
#127
Just go with the M4 (the 4 Series all-around is sharper than the 3 Series).

I'm still pissed BMW ditched that amazing S65 engine for the TTV6.. I prefer the E90 M3 to the F30 M3. RCF has a V8, and I heard the C63 will have a biturbo V8. Even though the F30 M3/M4 will have more torque, I prefer the RCF's powerplant.

From a practicality standpoint the RC-F will be a better long term ownership experience too. ColtCCHockeyCC's IS-F has like 90K miles on it with few issues.
I love the Mercedes C63 coupe and RS5 for different reasons. But if it's my $75K, I just don't know if I could ignore the Lexus' reliability value.

There's nothing like NA power and it's more reliable as well.

Although, I hear the C63 and E9X M3 6MT are reliable as well. Next generation.. probably not.

If this is true I can't wait till the RC-F starts hitting the CPO market after leases.

There's estimates being passed around, but nothing official.

This is the latest timeline Lexus has posted. When the new one becomes available we will share.
I know there is a lot of buzz regarding the RC, RC-F, and the NX. Both are scheduled for late 4th quarter (November tentatively).
Regarding the RC and RC-F: Everything regarding final builds and pricing WILL change! Everything to this point is still in process. Lexus is taking a proactive stance with this launch and will keep us informed as we get close to the official date and production starts.

Don't want to get the person in trouble, if they weren't supposed to tell.
The person I talked to wasn't a GM. I was told by him that Lexus Corp. released pricing to dealers. That may/may not be accurate, that's just what I was told.

Just post the price that he told you about!

I'd take it with a grain of salt. We have salesmen that have told clients they will be able to pre order soon when that's far down the road.
Those prices are right around what we've been estimating, but again, Lexus hasn't actually confirmed them.

The pre-order guide has been released. You can get an LSD on the high trim 350 and torque vectoring (not sure if brake or diff) on the F.

Damn. That sucks.

Yeah but that's the trend everyone is going towards as manual production costs aren't being justified.
On the topic, spoke to a manager asking if there was any update since that email & us receiving the pre order guides ($1-2,000 deposit for the 350); $45K for the 350, $65K for the RC F minus all options & what not. The 300h is coming later.

Time to accept it, kids. The manuals are dwindling....their numbers are falling all the time.
Lack of demand, cost, and lack of performance are driving them to extinction.
Car makers are sold on 7-10 speed AT units, and Dual Clutch units.

For me, I don't mind too much on the numbers. And that engine isn't slow. It's pretty fast.
It just needs some peppyness for it and aggressive gearing. I care a lot about how the car drives. The driving feel is much more important for me.
Hope this RC models are more sportier than IS models.

There have been a few articles regarding manual take rate as of late. In 2012 it doubled the previous years (something like 7% vs. 3.5%) but still quite the difference.
For the BRZ, take rate is about 70%. So it largely depends on the vehicle. On a car like the BRZ, I can't ever see automatics being more popular. But on a car like a Corvette, or especially a luxury sedan/coupe, I wouldn't be surprised if overall take rate was lower or nearly non-existent.

Yep. Higher the pricing gets, less the take rate on manual transmission. Sad stuff, but it's the reality.
#154
Playing devil's advocate, I have always understood that for a long time that dual clutch transmissions are superior as far as performance goes. Computer-controlled transmissions will get better gas mileage and smoothness/NVH. I completely understand why someone would want one, it's just convenient.
But count me out. I don't care if its slower, worse on gas, even if it's more expensive. Give me that third pedal.
