"Relentless Pursuit of Boredom"

Toyota (including Lexus) certainly makes reliable cars. Very reliable. What a shame then that they are so boring, bland and dowdy. Just my opinion. Gosh, I am yawning as I write this post...

Toyota makes great pick up trucks. My Tacoma has gotten me in and out of some pretty hairy spots deep in the wilderness.

But for cars: Honda > Toyota

It's like most "luxury" features. It's essentially worthless. But the technology is impressive.

Like them or hate them, they have come a long way since making sewing machines and bicycles. No doubt they're on top.

I cant stand them

Hyundai will bury Toyota. At least Honda stands for innovative engines and engineering oriented cars. I'm rooting for Honda too.

Besides, Toyota is struggling with quality control issues. It's viewed as a national scandal in Japan.

I respect Toyota-Lexus very much but, I will stick with Nissan-Infiniti. Ironically, I mentioned to my wife just this past weekend that the wealthy (in general) do not buy Lexus, rather MB and BMW. I got a chuckle seeing a similar statement from Lexus in the WSJ yesterday.

I dislike Toyota's styling, too bland too boring. They make exceptionally reliable cars (Lexus) also. But for me I think I would take a Honda/Acura any day of the week because they are just as reliable and at least you dont have to pay as much for quality and reliability as you would for a Toyota/Lexus brand. So simply put....... Honda Rulez!!!!!!!!

I like the Avalon for what it is.

I like the LS4xx less every day from a styling standpoint. However, the car is a rolling vault, exactly how I'd like it to be.

Back in the day, "character" in a car described a Jaguar with electrical gremlins. Today I think the Germans might have more character in their cars but they also have more problems

on our board red text = sarcasm or a joke

and by the way, over here in so cal, the car of choice for most asians is a lexus. Go to any 99 ranch market in so cal and you'll have your answer.

I think it's interesting that this is so fascinating to everyone because it's on the Lexus, but Toyota debuted that technology on one of its lesser cars a good 1-2 years ago.

I don't know what you are smoking. Nissan? Maxima?

Anyway, kudos to Toyota for doing its part to make cars better and competitive, and make BWM, MB and Honda stay awak at night for a while. Detroit deserves its downfall for making all that gas guzzlers and clones.

when you own a $70K car, you want to say, i've made it, and some one else can do the thing for me.

I can do parallel parking fine, but it's never fun to do it, especially if you drive a bigger car, and a lot of cars the side view mirrors don't adjust when in reverse.

Post Pricing announced for 2007 model...

From Leftlanenews...

Lexus has announced pricing for the all-new 2007 LS 460 and the company’s first-ever long-wheelbase model, the LS 460 L. The fourth-generation LS will start at $61,000 for the LS 460 and $71,000 for the LS 460 L.

The new LS features an all-new 4.6-liter V8 engine mated to the world's first eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine, Lexus' first all-new V8 since the brand’s launch, produces an 380 horsepower and 367 pound-feet of torque.

If I had that kind of money and a real reason to have 4 doors ... LS460 would be it. And I would definitely import it from the US ... no way am I paying C$90,000 (est) for an LS460 when I can get it for US$61,000. (Current 2006 LS430 in Canada MSRPs for C$85,700.00) ... and when you add taxes ... make that closer to C$100,000. No thanks!
