It will be sitting lower and have larger wheels

We may even see a tweaked 4.5L V8, when it arrives this October.

When the full redesign comes in 2006, look for a long wheelbase model and a V12 option.

In an effort to perplex the Germans, There are rumors that the V12 could be the standard engine on the next generation LS

Collective27 05-01-2003 10:28 PM

The way the guy words this, it seems like hes kinda jsut making it up as he goes along....maby its just me....anyway, no chance in hell they will have a v12 as the standered engine.

fahoumh 05-01-2003 10:31 PM

I doubt that any Lexus will ever see a V12...but this is just a sketch so I'm going to reserve my comments for pics and info from Toyota/Lexus

1SICKLEX 05-05-2003 03:29 AM

2nd pic looks more realistic. That green one, too much is changed.

There is a rumor, that the next gen LS 430 will have a V-12 STANDARD to totally purplex the Germans as Lexus continues to go upmarket and battle head to head. Toyota makes a V-12 car in Japan currently.

And besides the LS cars, what freaking Lexus looks likes a Benz?

ES 300 Nope
IS 300 Nope
GS Nope
SC 430 Nope
SC 300/400 Nope
RX 330 Nope
RX 300 Nope
GX 470 Nope
LX 470 Nope

So shut the hell up with that crap. Only the LS has ever looked like a Benz.

I think that is what most of us are talking about. It seems whenever Lexus redesigns the LS...it always looks like the current S Class. None of the other cars do....but the LS sure as hell does.

The green one looks like a S-class. Lexus does use a lot of styling cues from Mercedes though.

Sdog2012 05-06-2003 04:56 PM

Looks alot like the Es300 combined with an s500

Facelifted LS430

http://www.autofiend.com/images/arti.../newls-big.jpg

Our man with the inside scoop on things in Japan, Naoki Kyobashi, recently found us a picture of the reskinned Lexus LS 430, which is the latest of the proposed designs. This picture shows the slight modification to the front bumper, newly designed wheels, and slightly changed front headlights.

Red Nj-s 06-18-2003 10:53 PM

terrible photoshop job

Vegeta1 06-19-2003 04:59 PM

Looks like a Avalon just out the weight room.

Zoot 06-19-2003 05:57 PM

The current LS is far more attractive

1SICKLEX 06-19-2003 07:27 PM

From my understanding, this pic is accurate. Lexus does no crazy changes in a major model cycle, only small changes every 3 years. People don't buy the LS 430 for looks, they buy it cause it is arguebaly the best luxury sedan for 55-70k. IMO, I could never own something as bland but I am not their target.

heyitsme 06-19-2003 07:52 PM

not good at all, i think lexus will do a bigger change than that for their flagship sedan.

Black CL-S 4-Life 06-20-2003 04:04 PM

Ugly I've never been a fan of the LS430.

Sent to us from our spies in Australia…G’day mates!

If you were waiting for a major change, unfortunatetly, we'll all have to wait until the 2006 model year. PLEASE Lexus, don't be so D _ _ N conservative on the next car's design!

If you've been waiting to order one, give our friend Herve LeRoux a call at Lexus of Cerritos (See Herve's ad at the bottom of the article for contact info)

NEW LEXUS LS430 TO BE SHOWN AT FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW

· ‘Emotional and advanced’ design concept with smoother exterior profile

· Performance, comfort and safety enhancements

· New six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift lock mode delivers enhanced performance with lower fuel consumption

· Quieter, more comfortable and stylish interior

· I-AFS (Intelligent-Adaptive Front-lighting System) greatly improves visibility

· Standard air suspension incorporates new shock absorbers for an even smoother ride

· Advanced technology includes LED rear lamps, Lexus Parking Assist monitor, voice-operation DVD navigation system and Bluetooth technology for hands-free phone

· European-first provision of driver and passenger knee airbags

· Available in the UK in November 2003

The new Lexus LS430, the third generation of the Lexus flagship model, builds on more than a decade of luxury car development, adding an ‘emotional and advanced’ design concept, dynamic performance and more advanced technology.

When setting the theme for the new LS430, the Lexus design team identified three factors: emotional exterior styling, perceptible quality performance and advanced safety features. In each of these respects the new LS430 moves the industry benchmark still higher.

The exterior of the new LS430 is distinguished by the shape of the I-AFS headlamps, the lower and wider design of the front-end and the more pronounced, muscular bonnet profile. The smoother combination of straight lines and subtle curves along the car’s flanks are further enhanced by elegant five-spoke, 18-inch alloy wheels which perfectly match the car’sproportions. The boot lid features a new rear trim design and high-technology rear lamp clusters, with fast-responding LED units for tail and stop lamps. The new LS430 has twin exhaust outlets, visible on each side beneath the bumper assembly.

The double overhead-cam, 32-valve, 4.3-litre V8 meets all forthcoming EURO IV standards with no change in its components. It develops 279bhp at 5,600rpm and 417Nm of torque at 3,400rpm and is combined with the all-new

Super ECT electronically-controlled six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift lock mode. It will power the Lexus flagship from nought to 62mph in 6.3 seconds.

The car has well balanced, 53/47 front to rear weight distribution. The front and rear suspension systems make extensive use of aluminium in their construction and feature new bearings, retuned bushes, a long wheel stroke and redesigned shock absorbers to achieve increased ride comfort, stability and responsiveness. Electronically modulated air suspension remains standard equipment. This system is the first in the world to utilise the non-linear H¥ control method to control its damping and achieve unmatched stability and ride quality. The ability to lower ride height at high speeds improves aerodynamic properties resulting in a coefficient of drag (Cd) of 0.25, among the lowest of any passenger car.

The new LS430 features a particularly roomy passenger compartment. Precise fit and finish demonstrate Lexus craftsmanship and the level of tolerance for interior fittings has been reduced to 1mm, the finest level yet achieved.

The interior cabin of the Lexus LS430 features the latest generation Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) technology, with dual front airbags with two-stage variable-force activation, side curtain airbags and the Europe-first provision of driver and front seat passenger knee airbags. The knee airbag is designed to deploy from the lower part of the instrument panel at the same time as the front airbag to reduce injury from contact with steering column and lower dashboard structures. It has also been found to reduce head and chest injuries by reducing pelvis displacement and rotation of the torso in a major impact.I-AFS, Intelligent Adaptive Front-lighting System, greatly improves visibility. Unlike less sophisticated systems which are merely directly linked to a car’s steering, or use additional lights, the I-AFS controller controls the lighting direction of each low beam unit, linked to steering input and the speed of the car. It is combined with xenon headlights with an automatic leveling system and headlamp cleaners for optimum night-time vision.

The Lexus Parking Assist Monitor projects an image onto the navigation screen when reverse gear is selected, allowing accurate manoeuvring and minimising the risk of collision with low-level objects. The same touch-sensitive seven-inch display also shows on-board information from the Lexus Voice-Recognition Navigation system. It features the latest hands-free technology, recognising around 300 spoken commands. In addition, the Bluetooth technology allows cable-free use of personal data and mobile phone equipment.

honestly lexus is freakin sick!!! they are i believe one of the best cars on the market for their price. I mean the LS430 is comprable to a S500 and for much less! You get everything, an amazing ride quality, Navi, sick leather, onstar, and the list just doesn't stop. And it shouldn't for that price but really its a great quality car and amazing craftsmenship, thats why they are 1 on jd and power lists for tall kinds of crap.

Black CL-S 4-Life 08-22-2003 08:01 AM

Lexus makes a good car no doubt about it, but come on...do they strive to copy Benz??? The LS430 looks just like a S Class Benz

the S500 is above the LS...if you're going to compare the LS to an S-Class, it has to be the S430

Nice quality no doubt, but the exterior design..

:werd: this thing looks alot more boring though.

Reddly9007 08-22-2003 09:43 AM

i think you can definitely put the LS430 on the same pedistel as the S-class, not the 600 or 55 though. What is your arguement to say that the S-class 430 would be better? What is the difference between the two other then maybe the S is a little quicker. Can it be justified in the price difference in the cars?

gavriil 08-22-2003 10:22 AM

There are strong rumors that an LS500 with a 5 liter V8 will be coming out soon.
