that car is gorgeous but I'd still prefer my 650GC, I need a grand tourer for weekend trips. The Lexus is too small for those purposes.
Goes to show how much of a success the current 6 series (in particular the GC), when it can still be compared favorably to something as fresh as the LC. Its really debatable which looks nicer, but glad theres some really good competition happening in this market.
With all that said, from my eyes, the LC looks much more modern (as it should) and daring. Good for Lexus.
More like R.I.P Acura's chances of ever been taken seriously. Acura should be watching out for Hyundai, just a matter of time they will over taken Acura.

I'd still take the 6 series GC over this LC.....I really like the GC hahaha

Maybe it's just me, but I feel Hyundai has already surpassed Acura in pretty much every category, except the super car one.
...keep in mind, I'm not talking about upgrading the tires on ANY of these cars which of course, puts any Acura into the same category as Koenigsegg and Pagani.
whattttt........ I think I just forgot everything I know about the "Supra successor"..... actually when this car's prototypes and various models were shown, I was thinking this was more along the lines of a Supra successor than anything going on in the other avenues.... give it 600hp and we got a legit competitor.

Currently, the 471-hp Lexus LC500 is the brand’s high-performance flagship. But we’ve learned that Lexus is planning more. Set to make its debut at the Tokyo auto show in October is an ultra-high-performance LC F that will feature a new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 punching out a potent 600 horsepower.
According to our source at Lexus, this high-performance powerplant is in essence two 8AR-type 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines joined together at 90 degrees. The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 also will find its way into the GS F—making 550 horsepower—but for the LC F it will be turned up to 600 horsepower, with 470 lb-ft of torque. As with the LC500, the F will use the company’s 10-speed automatic transmission.
The LC F’s bespoke body kit will feature hood vents, air ducts for brake cooling, a fixed rear wing, and an aggressive front splitter as well as side and rear air vents. A set of 20-inch wheels wrapped in high-performance rubber will keep the LC F stuck to the road, while six-piston brake calipers will squeeze the rotors to scrub off speed. We’ll learn more about the hardware on this ultimate Lexus this fall.
While the LC500 will start at $92,995, the LC F could nearly double that figure. Sound expensive? Well, it’s a bargain next to the $350,000 Lexus asked for the LFA.
That looks awesome. Sadly with the estimated price of the regular LC at this point I would imagine the LC-F will be in the 120k range. That doesn't screem Supra successor to me cause it is priced way out of that expected range.

yeah, not a direct Supra successor Also I read this LC-F might cost closer to $200k.
Edit: just updated above post with that info regarding pricing.....

Maybe, but what did the Supra compete with? GT-R, NSX, etc. All over $100k cars now.
Jeez, at that price point, I'd rather get a Nismo GTR
Definitely arguable... I think Lexus is trying to steer towards the Aston Martin segment in terms of concept, scope, and design influence, with this F model adding some sporty flair.
Likely a slightly different customer base between a performance sedan & a performance coupe
Somewhat yes. But Sedan in general sells more than coupe... So that goes back to the question if Lexus can't sell the Performance sedan at a lower price point, how do they expect to sell the coupe at a higher price point?

Arguable. They should tone down the boy racer look then, if they're going after the AM crowd. Granted, there are some special addition AMs, but 98% of them look classy as opposed to boy racer.
The supra replacement is supposed to be a collaboration with BMW right? So the LC and Supra replacement are two separate cars based on my understanding.
If the LC F starts at $120k with 600hp, that's quite a bargain. The MB S550 at 450hp already starts at $122k. It goes up to $165k for S63 with 580hp, and all the way to $240k for S65.

Wow they are insane if they think they can ask double the price of the LC500. I get the point when what it competes at costs over 100k at this point but still 200k is a big stretch. Maybe 150k right next to the NSX price would be better. Having owned an F car it is sad to see all the ones they are making now are out of reach.
At 200k, I really can't see them selling many of these. It's a glorified LC500. I guess I'll wait until the actual press release comes out (not that I'd be buying anyway, because poor), but it better have substantial upgrades through and through. Just slapping a new V8 with turbos on it does not justify 100k price increase.

AM has a share of raucous boy-racer looking models. This would be competing against those.

It's probably gonna be more like $140k-$150k.
Yeah, this is not the Supra replacement. I was just saying that in my eyes, I consider this to be more of a Supra replacement, compared with what is going to be the actual Supra replacement.

It's got 600hp and the added styling and accoutrements to be worthy of additional price, but 200k I don't know . I think that is a bit high. Also, "F car" means something else. heh.

I agree it will be low production and sales and that could be a very good thing for people who buy it, as it's value would be likely to go up later on. I think it's got everything in place for that to happen. Look at the LFA, 5 years after the last model year and they are going for the same or higher prices used. Granted this car is not AS special as the LFA, but it's also not got that $375k price tag.
This coupe is too small to be considered a 6er/S class rival. The only direct competition is(like some of you mentioned) the AM Vantage. Well, if you are in the market for a such a car, why would anyone buy the Lexus over AM?

6ers will be gone soon. replaced by 8 series Coupe to really compete with the S coupe...
Lexus better have something special to be able to compete within that segment, as the way it sits now, it will not be able to compete with BMW/Mercedes, let alone AM.

same reason you would want to buy a NSX over a European counterpart. Reliability.
I'd take an NSX at that point. Cheaper, and for some reason I have a feeling it will handle much better. Lexus vehicles (maybe save for the LFA, but I dunno) have always had soft old man suspensions. Not my cup of tea.
Also, the NSX has dat torque vectoring AWD, crazy instantaneous torque off the line, etc. I wouldn't buy the NSX just yet though. I'd wait until they do a refresh in a few years and undoubtedly turn the boost up a bit.
Of course, this is all hypothetical speak, as I can't afford any of these cars
