You need to go out and drive as many as possible. That's the only way to make lean towards something. Dont go by specs, mags and what you read. That's just for reference. Driving the car is 70% of the whole thing.

I have. I went just last weekend. Tested most all Acuras, Infinit's, Lexus, 645, 350Z, Maxima, 540/6, A-6 4.2 so confused......
Sad. A year this month......from this saved by

I kind of want another GS but don't really want to modify it piece by piece again. That is why M3/M5 looks so attractive.

^ I love the new M5 (the old one looks good too). Something tells me the next M3 will be just as nice. Would you get the new M5 or previous gen?

Uh, doesn't the CL have aluminum trim?

Technically the CL has plastic trim painted to look like aluminum, so even worse.

I also hate wood trim in most cars. It usually look fake as fuck and like an old mans car. The exception I have seen is Jaguars. The S-Type I drove had VERY nice looking, glossy wood, and it matched the interior nicely. It looked like a strip from an expensive table had been put inside the car.

Overall I think it looks nice, and 300hp is enough for that car. Most people couldnt give 2 shits if it has 30hp more than the 98. As long as it looks nice, drives nice, and is a Lexus I'm sure it'll sell well. I'd rather have this than the RL, thats for sure.

Besides, even if it was real aluminum, it isn't used as liberally as in the new M35's interior. There is a difference in how Acura uses aluminum on the TL vs. how Infiniti is using it on the new M35; Acura uses it as trimming, Infiniti allows it to dominate the interior.

It looks sleeker than it did in the previous pics. Cleaner, too, but that may be due to the missing badging. The back is still ugly. The headlights by themselves are hot, but I don't know if they've integrated them into the design well enough.

I guess it's like a so-so girl with no ass and a great rack.

I wouldn't mind looking at the headlights all day

I have been hearing that Lexus is definitely making some changes to the new GS that were posted 10-12 months ago.

Would be nice if they squeezed another 20-30hp out of it, but not holding my breath.

Mind you though, I would still consider the GS430 if I were looking for a mid-size luxury sport sedan in the $55-$60k territory.

This is just as important to Lexus as the RL and M35/45 are to Acura and Infiniti. They were probably just tinkering with options and waiting to see if the other two were going to add them and if so, the GS would have whatever options too.

Nice pics! Again guys, for those that have not seen this car "live", you need to, because it looks a ton uglier on any photos I have seen.

Looks, alrighte. As bad as the nissan comparisons can be for a 'Lexus", the rear I'm seeing new Hyundai, haha. Rear looks squashed width wise and overly high trunk lid wise.

Saw the prototype in NY at the Auto Show...unless they made major revisions, it looked as rear heavy in real life as it does in pictures.

This car lacks something that gives me no excitement at all. The RL and M45 are better looking in my opinion. Lexus has to learn to design a car that has more initial appeal or at least something more sporty. It looks like a cross between an avalon and a maxima. The rear looks ugly and it sorta looks like the old gs tail lights. Not the generation now, but the one b4

I wouldn't exactly call the M45's rear so great looking either, the tail lights are entirely too large.

Not to mention overall, the car looks like a large G35 sedan......which is either a positive or a negative depending on the individual.

Resale wise (if you care).......Lexus > Infiniti

In the end, I don't think either car is a design breakthrough.

Totally agree. I think that's the only weak spot in the exterior design for the M.
