it looks like a Grand Cherokee and an Explorer mated. It's attractive, yeah, but it's not a standout anymore.

Post 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR

Press release...

The Range Rover Sport SVR is set to make its global debut at Pebble Beach on 14 August. The fastest, most powerful Land Rover ever produced is the first model to wear the SVR designation being adopted by future Land Rover and Jaguar high-performance models.

The Range Rover Sport SVR accelerates from 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds. A top speed electronically limited to 162mph and a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of 8 minutes 14 seconds - one of the fastest times ever recorded by a production SUV - underline its performance credentials.

The SVR's range-topping 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine has been developed to produce 550PS and 680Nm - substantial 40PS and 56Nm increases - without compromising fuel economy. And its advanced ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive chassis have been optimised to complement its astonishing performance, whatever the weather.

In a world first for Land Rover, the Range Rover Sport SVR is equipped with a two-stage active exhaust featuring electronically controlled valves. The system optimises sound quality, performance and aesthetics and provides a racecar-inspired soundtrack at higher engine revs without adversely affecting refinement during steady-state driving.

Meanwhile, in another first for Range Rover, unique 22-inch* alloy wheels with performance-optimised 295/40 R22 Continental SportContact 5 tyres* complement the driver-focused chassis. As standard, new 21-inch alloy wheels with 275/45 R21 all-season tyres offer unparalleled all-terrain capability.

Exterior design enhancements ensure the SVR makes a striking visual impact, while simultaneously boosting cooling and aerodynamic efficiencies. A bespoke interior featuring unique sports seats provides further visual differentiation and ensures occupants are held securely in place.

John Edwards, Managing Director of Land Rover's Special Operations, said: "The Range Rover Sport SVR is a natural progression beyond the core vehicle's outstanding on- and off-road capabilities and leading-edge design. Its exhilarating performance will satisfy a particularly demanding customer set.

"A thorough range of revisions specially developed by Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations combine to make this premium derivative even more distinctive both inside and out, as well as taking its dynamic capabilities to the next level without impacting on comfort, refinement or all-terrain versatility. The Range Rover Sport SVR is truly the world's most capable performance SUV."

The Range Rover Sport SVR builds on the success of the new Range Rover Sport, with its all-aluminium monocoque - a world first in the segment - which reduces weight by 39% compared with its predecessor and provides the ideal strong, stiff and lightweight structure on which to create the Range Rover Sport SVR. The premium sports SUV unleashes the full potential of the lightweight and robust all-aluminium architecture, while retaining the refinement, luxury and off-road capability for which Range Rover is world renowned.

SVR is fitted with permanent four-wheel drive and a two-speed transfer case, with a low-range option for demanding terrain, and a 50/50 percent torque split front-to-rear. The upgraded air suspension system automatically varies between two ride heights, and the next generation ground-breaking Terrain Response® 2 system automatically selects the most suitable terrain programme.

The Range Rover Sport SVR's lightweight aluminium suspension is fully-independent, with wide-spaced double-wishbones at the front and an advanced multi-link layout at the rear. Wheel-travel is class-leading (260mm front and 272mm rear) and provides exceptional wheel articulation of 546mm to deal with the toughest conditions.

Wade Sensing™, introduced on the Range Rover Sport, also features on the SVR. This innovative technology provides 'depth' information when driving through water, and in line with the mainstream Sport, the vehicle can wade up to 850mm. It also has towing capability up to 3000kg.

The Range Rover Sport SVR has been created by Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations team and all SVR models need to meet key performance criteria to wear the SVR badge. Range Rover Sport SVRs will be built alongside their mainstream sibling models in our existing production facilities and sold through Land Rover's dealer network.

Range Rover Sport SVR - designed, engineered and built in Britain - amplifies the engineering integrity, robustness and attention to detail that are Land Rover hallmarks.

The Range Rover Sport was introduced in 2005, and over 500,000 examples have been built to date.

That is like saying i will take 3 V6 mustang with 300hp over a M5.

you can have 10 JGC, but it is still JGC, not a RR SVR.

Post 2015 Holland & Holland Range Rover

Press release from Land Rover...

The Holland & Holland Range Rover builds upon the strengths of the two iconic British brands to provide the perfect vehicle for the sporting gun manufacturer’s customers. Thanks to the skill and craftsmanship of the team at Special Vehicle Operations, the new car is able to combine the unrivalled off-road capability of the Range Rover with an extensive range of bespoke features. Both Land Rover and Holland & Holland hold Royal Warrants and the collaboration between them has resulted in the most luxurious, and most expensive, Range Rover ever.

Based on the Range Rover Autobiography Black, the summit of the Land Rover model portfolio, the new model has been designed by Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO), which will build 40 units per year over a three-year period. The collaboration demonstrates the new division’s rapidly growing and ambitious repertoire of high-end luxury bespoke commissions, as well as extreme performance vehicles.

John Edwards, managing director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, said, “The whole SVO team is very proud of this car, a bespoke design, which perfectly meets the very particular needs of Holland & Holland’s customers. This shows the huge potential of SVO, which encapsulates both off- and on-road performance as well as luxury and craftsmanship.”

The Holland & Holland Range Rover is available with a choice of powertrains: the diesel-powered 4.4-litre SDV8, which delivers 339PS and the 510PS petrol-powered 5.0-litre V8 Supercharged.

Both SVO and Holland & Holland represent the very pinnacle of craftsmanship, and the new car is where their collective skills combine. It is instantly discernable from a distance, even among other Range Rovers, thanks to the unique Holland & Holland Green of the full bodywork, mirrors and bonnet vent. The grille is painted in the same deep green and has chrome highlights.

Holland & Holland badging can be found on the lower accent door badges of both long and standard wheelbase versions, as well as on the tailgate.

On the inside, the Range Rover Autobiography Black has been tailored to accommodate the lifestyle pursuits of Holland & Holland’s customers. The Executive Class seating package in the long wheelbase car makes the most of the additional 186mm (7.3 inches) of legroom and 17 degrees recline available to the rear seat passengers. Two individual fully adjustable seats are complemented by an extended and re-designed centre console with electrically deployable walnut tables, integrated USB charging sockets, enhanced stowage and bespoke lighting.

In the Holland & Holland car, the interior is upholstered with the softest tan and espresso leather hides, with precision leather detailing including Holland & Holland embroidery on the front seats. Even the sides of the transmission tunnel are trimmed in the same shade of leather. This is perfectly complemented by the sustainably-sourced French walnut veneer, subtly polished to resemble the oil-finished gunstocks for which Holland & Holland’s craftsmen have been famous since the company’s foundation in 1835. To mark this, their logo is inlaid into the front centre console. The car’s woodwork is made from a single huge piece of walnut, 1500mm long by 500mm wide, to ensure that every veneer is perfectly matched.

The engraver’s art is well represented too, with Holland & Holland’s brand-defining acanthus scroll turning the internal door handles into works of art. The fascia letterbox panels are decorated with gunstock checkering and the exquisite engraving of the centre console panel has been inspired by Holland & Holland’s distinctive forend diamonds.

What really sets the new Holland & Holland Range Rover apart, though, is located in the boot. A stunning leather-trimmed aluminium loadspace cabinet – debossed with the Holland & Holland logo – has been designed especially for this car. Its espresso Alcantara-trimmed interior can be precisely fitted to safely transport the owner of the car’s pair of Holland & Hollands - although it is also removable when maximum luggage capacity is required.

It sits on a deployable loadspace floor, engineered from aluminium and carbon fibre and finished with leather and wood veneer. The floor components are machined and cut to produce a unique platformthat slides out with a perfectly damped action, to ensure that the cabinet is easily accessible, even when the tailgate is open. The sliding floor is also designed to be load-bearing so that it can still be sat upon when owners wish to change their footwear or stop for a brief picnic. When floor and box are in their travel position, they sit low and well back in the boot to ensure that there is still plenty of room for luggage or sports equipment.

Daryl Greatrex, managing director of Holland & Holland, commented: “This project represents two great British brands working together to produce a car that perfectly represents our shared brand values. Stunning form and perfect functionality unite in a car that is supremely fit for purpose.”

The recommended retail price (RRP) for the Holland & Holland Range Rover will be £180,000.

JLR’s first plug-in hybrid is a 404bhp performance-orientated posh off-roader

Ladies and gents, the plug-in electric revolution has finally hit planet Range Rover with this, the new Range Rover Sport PHEV.

It’s Jaguar Land Rover’s first plug-in hybrid and proof that it’s taking the whole ‘we’ll make only electric or hybrid cars from 2020’ thing quite seriously.

Introduced with the new 2018 model year updates across the range (a raft of exterior detail tweaks, technology upgrades and interior plushness trickled upstream from the Velar), the fact that you can now plug the posh performance-orientated off-roader into a wall socket to power the thing is big news.

Christened the P400e, the new PHEV model sees the traditional 300bhp four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine paired with an 85kW electric motor (housed on the transmission) powered by a 13.1kWh lithium-ion battery stored under the boot floor. To save you having to reach for your iPhone’s calculator, that’s a combined power output of 404bhp and 472lb-ft of torque fed to all four wheels permanently and good enough to send the plush lump from 0-60mph in 6.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 137mph. But, its magic trick is that it can drive on nothing but electricity for 31 miles – a talent no other Range Rover has possessed before.

As plug-in hybrids can cheat the emissions tests (and recoup energy during braking) the P400e claims to deliver CO2 emissions of 64g/km and fuel economy of up to 101mpg on the NEDC combined cycle, making it the most fuel-efficient Land Rover ever. However, when we tested the full-fat Range Rover hybrid, we did see an increase in real-world economy and saw V8 performance for V6 emissions. And that’s a real-world win right there.

The PHEV Rangey has the option of two driving modes: Parallel Hybrid mode (the default driving mode) and EV (Electric Vehicle) mode. When driving in Parallel Hybrid, the RRS PHEV juggles the two power sources to offer the adequate amount of power for the scenario but favouring the clean stuff when it can.

But, on long schleps, you can hit ‘SAVE’ button to engage the EV-only range for a specific part of the journey, for example, when entering traffic in a city. There’s even a clever brain in the computer called ‘Predictive Energy Optimisation’ that uses the vehicle’s Navigation system to maximise fuel efficiency.

In EV mode, the P400e can do those zero-emission 31 miles up to a top speed of 85mph. How far you can actually go on electricity alone we’ll have to test for ourselves in the real world, rather than a simulation.

To charge the battery, you plug the car in via a socket behind a flap hidden in the Land Rover badge on the front grille. If you’ve got a super duper 32-amp wall box, you can juice up the RRS PHEV in 2 hours 45 minutes. If you have to use a normal 10-amp plug, you’re looking at 7 hours 30 minutes for a full charge.

Visually, there’s been a light facelift to make sure the new Sport doesn’t look out of place next to the tapered and sharp Velar. Up front, there’s more pronounced LED headlights, a redesigned grille and mouthier front bumper.

Inside, the cabin now features the new Touch Pro Duo with the same two high-definition 10-inch touchscreens from the new Disco and Velar while more sustainable materials (26kg of recycled plastics and 40kg of natural materials such as wood veneers and seat leathers) are used in each car. Then there’s tech like the gesture sunblind that opens and closes when you waggle your hand around, plus Advanced Tow Assist, that makes pulling/reversing trailers a lot easier.

Feeling a bit cold with all this plug-in RR lark? Fear not. Range Rover has also updated the hilarious Range Rover Sport SVR, giving it more power (up to 575bhp) and carbon fibre to see 60mph off in 4.3 seconds.

We’ll see both cars for ourselves at the upcoming LA motor show. If you’re taken by the hybrid revolution already, you can order the car now – with prices from £61,315 – and expect to see it on your driveway early next year.

https://www.topgear.com/car-news/suv...ortant-numbers

From its 25 massage functions to its 177,030 pounds sterling, the new RR in numbers

The new Range Rover is here! Only it’s not completely new, it’s a mid-life update. So while the design has been tweaked, there’s not an awful lot new to see. All the fancy bits are beneath the skin.

And those fancy bits arrive strapped to a mind-boggling set of numbers. The tech spec is 8,599 words long (really) but can be easily digested by breaking it down into its most interesting figures. So join us for a numerical guide to the new-for-2018 Range Rover…

101

The miles-per-gallon figure of the new Range Rover P400e hybrid.

It gets the same powertrain as the Range Rover Sport P400e, which sees a 2.0-litre petrol engine combine with electric power for a 404bhp total. The top speed is 137mph, but you’ll still be able to crack 85mph in the car’s electric-only mode. Expect its 101mpg to be notional only, though.

31

Miles you can cover on electricity alone.

Though not in conjunction with exploration of its top speed, we’d wager.

Rather than just use all 31 miles and then fall back on the petrol engine, there are many driving modes to juggle between in order to most efficiently use the combination of power on offer. Or you can just leave it to the intelligent sat nav, which will map out your energy use in line with the terrain and traffic that lies ahead.

Seven

Number of hours a full charge takes.

That’s if you’re plugged the P400e into the mains with a regular cable, but a fancy charger can cut these down to around three hours. Rather than just plug it in and forget about it, like you do with your phone overnight, there’s an app to monitor the car’s progress. It’ll alert you if some joker pulls the cable out, too.

You can even time your charges so that they take place when electricity rates are at their cheapest. When the P400e starts at £86,965, though – and costs £168,015 if you go for a top-spec long wheelbase car – we suspect ‘leccy bills are a moot point.

144

The amount of LEDs in the new headlights.

Yep, a mid-life refresh means new paint colours (two), new wheel choices (six) and, most importantly, new headlight options (four).

All of them are LED, with the standard option – confusingly called ‘Premium’ – coming packed with 24 LEDs. The number rises exponentially as you rise up the price list, ending with the Pixel-Laser option and its 144 LEDs. Really.

And don’t worry about them blinding oncoming traffic; the lights are intelligent, we’re told, and will blank out sections of their LEDs to avoid blinding other road users.

24

Directions in which the poshest front seats adjust.

There’s lots of new stuff inside too, of course. Joining the Range Rover Velar-style dashboard and its twin 10in touchscreens come new seats. They adjust in more directions than we can get our heads around, while even the arm rests are heated. Cold forearms no more, Rangey drivers.

And when the sun’s in your eyes, you can move the sun visors back and forth with mid-air gestures. Beware accidental deployment during communicative hand gestures to other road users.

25

The number of massages on offer.

If all that seat-based luxury wasn’t enough for you, their 14 massage cells (what even is one of those?) combine to offer 25 different types of massage, and you alter their “intensity of vibration” via a smartphone app.

In fact, the app can alter all seat functions. Perfect when you’ve reclined so far back you can’t reach the car’s controls anymore.

17

Quantity of connection points inside the new Range Rover.

Or 18, if you’ve got the long-wheelbase version. There should be no arguments over who gets to charge what and when, with even domestic sockets on offer for plugging in phones, laptops and, perhaps, toasters. There’s 4G wifi for up to eight devices, too.

1,700

Watts produced by the best stereo.

Which, by the way, has 29 speakers. There are three stereo options, but when you’re spending six figures, you want the full 1,700 watter. All the more pressure for whoever’s controlling the one device out of 17 that’s got all the music on it…

5.1

Seconds the fastest one takes to complete 0-60mph.

Top of the range is the SVAutobiography Dynamic (let’s call it the SVA). While it has 15bhp more than before, its 565bhp is 10bhp down on the Range Rover Sport SVR.

Not to worry, though, as it can still hustle the Range Rover’s enormity to 60mph in a hot hatch-like time. There’s a sport mode that drops the chassis 8mm to make it a bit sharper to drive, too. When the whole thing weighs 2,497kg, expect it to still be a bit roly-poly, though. Top speed is 155mph.

177,030

Price of a top spec SVA in pounds.

Oh yes, the Range Rover is a proper luxury item these days. Get a long-wheelbase SVAutobiography Dynamic and your base price tag is just £5,000 short of a Ferrari 488 GTB.

The new Range Rover itself starts at nearly £100k less, mind. Cheapest is the £79,565 TDV6 vogue, with a 258bhp diesel V6, while the hybrid starts at a whisker under £87k. It’s almost exactly the same price as a V8 diesel or supercharged V6 petrol, inviting some very interesting personal questions about how you like your power delivered…

First pic of the new Range Rover SV Coupe interior, full reveal in March at Geneva

Land Rover is going to build a two-door Range Rover called the SV Coupe. This is just the interior, but you’ll see the full thing at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Until then, there are but few details, and a bit of history. It’s a “celebration of the Range Rover bloodline”, that two-door body pointing back to the original 1970 Range Rover’s two-door body. Plus, 2018 marks Land Rover’s 70th anniversary year.

We’re promised “up-to-the-minute” tech throughout that rather lovely cabin, as well as lots of light, space and things that are “sumptuous to the touch”. There’s also mention of “extensive opportunities to personalise” the SV Coupe.

This big, luxury two-door SUV will be built at LR’s SV Technical Centre in Warwickshire, with production limited to just 999 models. That’s a global production number, mind.

Land Rover’s special ops boss John Edwards said: “In launching the new Range Rover SV Coupe, we will offer clients an alluring combination of peerless luxury and rarity.”

The two-door Range Rover is back, less humble and more luxurious than ever

Think Bentley, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce have nicked the Range Rover’s posh SUV homework? Meet the Land Rover’s recreation of the original two-door Range Rover, the SV Coupe, which launches with a £240,000 price tag. Before options.

Nigh on every one of its 999 buyers will make theirs bespoke to their own tastes, adding as much as £100,000 again. This could be a £340k Range Rover.

“As long as you give customers substance behind the price, they are happy to pay it,” says the director of Jaguar-Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations division, Mark Stanton. “We’ve not had anybody complain about price.” It’s almost like he knew it was the first thing we’d ask about.

The reasons for its price tag – around £80,000 more than the SVAutobiography Dynamic it’s based upon, and three times the full-size Range Rover’s entry point – are numerous. Each one will be hand built at SVO’s headquarters, rather than the normal factory, while it’s taken a reasonable amount of engineering to turn a five-door SUV into a three-door. If you need evidence, it was the first Land Rover project pencilled in at SVO, conceived around the same time as the Jaguar F-Type-based Project 7, which was revealed in 2014.

It’s a punchy looking thing in the metal, a car Land Rover’s design director Gerry McGovern describes as “not for the shy”. It’s a smidge longer than a five-door Range Rover, while 100mm has been taken from its height and added to its width. The front ‘gills’ now sit in front of the doors, which, inevitably, are longer, almost entirely filling the wheelbase. Could be tricky in tight parking spaces, then, though you can spec them with power closing.

While there are two seats – and a reasonable amount of room – in the back, we’re told it’s a ‘driver’s Range Rover’. The only engine choice is the company’s 557bhp 5.0-litre supercharged V8, which gives only 10bhp to the Range Rover Sport SVR. That makes this the next quickest Rangey, with a 5.0sec 0-62mph time and 165mph top speed.

Was there not a temptation to offer other engines? “Customers would only go for this one,” says Stanton. “They don’t want a plug-in hybrid. They want a top-range engine. If they need an EV or PHEV to get into a certain city, they’ll buy one as well, they’ve got so much money and so many cars. They just want the most powerful V8 in this car.”

Further hints it’s for driving lie in one of the optional interior colour schemes, which sees the front seats trimmed in a different, more brightly coloured leather to the rears, to highlight them as most important. Incidentally, the Queen’s Range Rover – designed to escort her around – has its seats trimmed the other way around.

It’s the tip of a very large and opulent iceberg when it comes to choosing how to spec the car. The exterior can be two-tone, too, and while there are a bunch of standard colours and ‘curated’ colour schemes, the people who buy cars like the SV Coupe turn up to dealerships with their favourite handkerchief, asking for its pattern to be faithfully recreated inside the car. SVO suspects very few of the 999 being made will be alike.

When interior door handles are described as a ‘blank canvas’ for your own unique engravings, and you’re offered to chance to have your family coat of arms stitched into the headrests, you know the Range Rover has moved on from that original two-door of 1970. Mind, there’s still a full suite of off-road systems beneath the skin and it’ll tow 3.5 tonnes. “It’s important we make vehicles that retain the essence of the brand,” says McGovern.

Oh, and no one’s worried about the challenges imposed by the likes of the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan. “Will customers buy this instead of a Bentley? No, they’ll buy both,” says SVO boss Stanton. “Your magazine debates about which is best between the latest Ferrari or McLaren, but these guys don’t have that debate. They just buy both.”

He hopes some customers will have SVO’s headline Jaguar, Project 8 – the 592bhp, £150k XE super saloon – too. “Project 8 and the SV Coupe are a really interesting comparison,” he says. “Project 8 is all about the oily bits, the engine, the drivetrain, the aero. Here, it’s all about the body and materials. The same amount of work has gone into each car and they’re quite interesting contrasts for us, they push the boundaries in completely different directions.”

The real big news about the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover and Range Rover Sport is the introduction of the P400e plug-in hybrid trim, which can apparently drive 31 miles on its battery alone. Both SUVs get a few other little updates for the new model year but a water wading depth sensor sounds like the most fun.

Range Rovers, even the hybrid, can drive through almost three feet of standing water according to Land Rover. At least, as long as there’s traction below the surface. Somehow I doubt too many owners ever stretch the limits of that, but for those who do, or want another neat blinking display to look at, the Wade Sensing system is optional on all variants for 2019.

As explained in Land Rover’s announcement:

The system provides real-time wading depth information relative to the maximum wading capability for the current location of the vehicle. Using sensors on the underside of the door mirrors, the system reports this information to the driver via a dedicated display on the vehicle’s touchscreen. The system also provides the driver an indication of the vehicle’s position/angle, and can estimate when the vehicle is potentially going into deeper water or coming out of the water. The driver is able to turn on the Wade Sensing feature using a soft button in the 4x4i menu.
This has been a feature in other markets for a long time, but I guess 2019 is the year Land Rover decided Americans also needed to know exactly how deep the puddles we’ve been driving through are.

You can see an old version of it in action on a Discovery 4 right here:

On new U.S.-spec Range Rovers, you’ll be treated to a much more modern looking display, like this:

So Wade Sensing will join a tilt-and-roll gauge, a drivetrain status and differential position alert, a little infographic of where your front wheels are pointed, and other fun frivolous items baked into the command console of well-appointed Range Rovers.

I know most people only by Land Rovers for luxury, but as long as the company is still coming up with toys like this, I choose to keep the faith that somebody, somewhere, will treat their $100,000 SUV like a workhorse and put it through hell on off-road adventures.

RR Sport HST

https://www.carscoops.com/2019/02/ne...-hybrid-395hp/

This is the new Range Rover Sport HST, the first production vehicle from Jaguar Land Rover to launch with a mild-hybrid powertrain.

Powering the Range Rover Sport HST is the all-new 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder gaasoline engine that boasts 395 hp and 405 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. The engine replaces the company’s V6 petrol and is special due to its implementation of an electric supercharger and a twin-scroll turbocharger.

Jaguar Land Rover says the electric supercharger is driven directly by an electric motor that can spool it up to 120,000 rpm in half a second. The presence of this electric supercharger is said to virtually eliminate all lag from the turbocharger. The new engine also reduces CO2 emissions over the petrol V6 by 12 per cent while cutting down on particulate emissions by 75 per cent.

In addition to the electric supercharger and efficient turbocharger, the Sport HST’s powertrain includes Continuous Variable Valve Lift (CVVL), a system that varies inlet valve timing and lift profile to improve efficiency. There is also a 48-volt system that can harvest energy on the move, provide torque assistance to the engine, and trigger the Start-Stop system.

The SUV has claimed fuel economy figures of 30.5 mpg (9.3 liters/100 km) combined and CO2 emissions of 213g/km.

“In-line six-cylinder engines are inherently better balanced than V6 designs and our all-new Ingenium unit builds on that promise to optimize efficiency in all operating conditions. Advanced features, including an electric supercharger, ensure distinctive Range Rover Sport performance and responses, while the intelligent MHEV system harvests energy to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions,” Jaguar Land Rover executive director of product engineering Nick Rogers said.

As for the Range Rover Sport HSE itself, it will be sold as a special edition and can be distinguished from other models with unique badging and carbon fiber trim across the exterior. Inside, Land Rover has equipped the vehicle with 16-way Dynamic front seats with red and black leather and satin chrome shift paddles. The vehicle also includes Advanced Cruise Control, High Speed Emergency Braking, and Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2.

The Range Rover Sport HST will set UK customers back £81,250 ($104,733). It remains to be seen if the car will be sold elsewhere.

Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations has launched a pair of exclusive new Range Rover special editions created by its SV Bespoke personalisation team.

The new Range Rover SVAutobiography Ultimate editions represent the pinnacle of Land Rover's luxury SUV family, elevating the range-topping SVAutobiography and SVAutobiography Dynamic models even higher with a suite of complementary hand-finished SV Bespoke features.

Curated by the SV Bespoke commissioning experts at the Special Vehicle Operations Technical Centre in the UK, the Ultimate editions showcase the full range of personalisation touches that can be applied to the timeless Range Rover design. Key to the exclusive Ultimate edition design theme is the combination of newly formulated satin-finished Orchard Green paintwork complemented by a Narvik Black roof and copper detailing.

The SV Bespoke team's attention to detail extends to the Gloss Black knurled infill and copper-edged metal Range Rover badging on the bonnet and tailgate, a copper-plated and black enamel SV roundel on the B-pillar, SV roundels embroidered on all four headrests, plus illuminated Ultimate edition treadplates. The finishing touch is a 'SV Bespoke Ultimate edition' commissioning plaque on the centre console, complete with copper-finished SV roundel.

Mark Turner, Commercial Director, Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, said: "Range Rover has defined the luxury SUV segment for more than half a century, with our SVAutobiography models offering customers a world-class travel experience - whether driving, or being driven. These new Ultimate editions elevate that refinement and sophistication even further."

Clare Hansen, Director, Land Rover Vehicle Personalisation, said: "Our SV Bespoke commissioning experts have taken the classic combination of a green and black exterior and given it a thoroughly modern twist, using a contemporary satin paint finish and copper detailing. This elegant combination is strengthened further with the recommended Vintage Tan interior themes available."

The long-wheelbase SVAutobiography provides first class travel with serene refinement, including power-closing rear doors. Reclining airline-style heated and cooled semi-aniline leather Executive Class Comfort-Plus rear seats provide over 1.2m of rear legroom, hot stone massage function, plus calf and footrests for rear occupants. A full-length centre console with integrated Zenith timepiece, refrigerated compartment and deployable tables creates the perfect space to work and relax on the move.

The recommended Ultimate edition specification features Vintage Tan leather interior trim and Copper Weave Carbon Fibre finishers. Customers can also opt for leather upholstery from the Italian artisans at Poltrona Frau for a truly cosseting experience.

This flagship model is available with a choice of powertrains, including the 565PS Supercharged V8 petrol and highly efficient P400e plug-in hybrid, which is capable of up to 40km (25 miles) of all-electric driving and provides overall CO2 emissions as low as 75g/km.

The exclusively 565PS Supercharged V8 petrol SVAutobiography Dynamic is the most driver-focused of the pair. Available only as a standard-wheelbase vehicle, the suspension geometry and steering calibration are optimised to provide more agile responses. Land Rover's advanced Dynamic Response active roll control system also enhances composure, while the ride height is lowered by 8mm - delivering more engaging on-road driving dynamics and a more purposeful stance.

Forged 22-inch alloy wheels feature a five split-spoke design finished in Gloss Dark Grey with contrast Diamond Turned finish, while side vent, bonnet finisher, grille and front bumper accents are all finished in Graphite Atlas. Inside, a knurled finish for the rotary shift controller, starter button and pedals, plus anodized Red paddle shifters, underline the performance focus of SVAutobiography Dynamic.

The recommended SVAutobiography Dynamic interior theme features Ebony / Vintage Tan trim with diamond-quilted semi-aniline leather seats, an Ebony headlining and Steel Weave Carbon Fibre finishers.

The New Range Rover SVAutobiography Ultimate edition with 565PS Supercharged V8 is priced from £183,706 OTR in the UK. The SVAutobiography Dynamic equivalent is priced from £147,441.

The 2022 Range Rover is here and packing more flexibility and technology than the fourth-generation model it replaces. A new third row makes the Range Rover a more-appealing family hauler and a more competitive vehicle in its price bracket, while new tech is guaranteed to bring in those who can't get enough of four-wheeled gadgetry.

With two passenger configurations comes two wheelbases. The new three-row model is approximately 8 inches longer than the standard Range Rover and offers a foot of additional wheelbase, freeing up leg room for second- and third-row passengers. Yes, the long-wheelbase model can be had in a five-passenger configuration, which will be the sweet spot for both comfort and cargo-hauling, if that's what you're looking to maximize.

At launch, the fifth-generation Rover will be offered with two turbocharged engines. The standard choice on P400 models is a 3.0-liter inline-six making 395 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque and backed up with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. Stepping up to the P530 gets you a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 sourced from Land Rover's new (again) German partner, BMW. The V8 makes 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque and is the lineup's range-topping engine. Land Rover says the new 4.4 will propel the P530 models to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds — easy to remember for barstool braggadocio.

Those are fine for now, but what of the future? Fear not, Land Rover says, as these two gas-burners will be joined by a plug-in hybrid for 2023 and a full electric model for 2024. The plug-in hybrid will combine Jaguar-Land Rover's Ingenium inline-six engine with a 38.2 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack and a 105-kilowatt (~140 hp) electric motor for a combined output of 434 horsepower. Land Rover says it will be capable of speeds up to 87 mph on electric power alone and offer 62 miles of pure-electric driving, though you won't get the latter if you attempt to do the former with any frequency.

Besides nicely dressed ladies and their dogs, the new Range Rover also welcomes tons of tech just about everywhere you turn. All-wheel steering is standard, for example, giving the new Range Rover the tightest turning circle of any SUV in Land Rover's lineup. The excellent new Pivi Pro infotainment system can also be optioned with a 35-speaker Meridian audio system that includes a noise-cancelling feature that cuts down on intrusive engine and road noise. Amazon Alexa integration is quite possibly the least impressive bit of tech in this car, frankly. You can even get power-assisted doors.

To coordinate all of this technical tomfoolery, the new Range Rover gets two primary control screens. The aforementioned Pivi Pro occupies a 13.1-inch curved screen atop the dash, while the driver gets a 13.7-inch cluster display. The cluster display utilizes three panels and can be customized to the driver's personal preferences. There are dual 11.4-inch touchscreens available for rear-seat passengers as part of an on-board entertainment package.

And it wouldn't be a Range Rover without some eye-popping interior options. While the Autobiography returns for 2022, SV won't be here until 2023. Land Rover calls SV an "exquisite interpretation of Range Rover luxury and personalization," and the SV Serenity model pictured here certainly appears to fit the bill.

The new Range Rover can be ordered from your local dealership today with a starting price of $105,350 (including destination). Autoblog will be getting its first in-person look at the new Range Rover next month on the eve of the Los Angeles auto show (theoretically at least), and we hope to see news about the 2023 model's availability (and details of the forthcoming 2024 EV) in the coming year.

New Range Rover Sport redefines sporting luxury, effortlessly combining assertive and instinctive on-road performance with trademark Range Rover refinement, progressive design sophistication and connected convenience. The third-generation model is the most desirable, advanced and dynamically capable yet.

A suite of powerful and efficient powertrains includes six-cylinder extended range Electric Hybrid, a potent new V8 and mild hybrid six-cylinder petrol and diesel Ingenium engines. Pure-electric propulsion will be introduced in 2024, as Land Rover continues its electrification journey.

New Range Rover Sport is available in, SE, HSE and Autobiography specifications, with a First Edition available throughout the first year of production featuring a specially curated specification.

Thierry Bolloré, Chief Executive Officer, Jaguar Land Rover, said: "The exceptional New Range Rover Sport sets new standards as the ultimate sporting luxury SUV, building on seventeen years of unique customer appeal. It is the latest embodiment of our vision to create the world's most desirable modern luxury vehicles, effortlessly blending new levels of sustainability with the signature qualities that have made Range Rover Sport so popular."

Design in detail

The sophisticated exterior is unmistakably Range Rover Sport with taut surfacing, a dynamic stance and instantly recognisable profile, perfectly accentuated by stealth-like detailing and muscular proportions - giving the impression the vehicle is poised and ready.

Dramatic proportions accentuate the Range Rover Sport's distinctive character, with short overhangs, an assertive front-end and steeply raked glazing at the front and back. These trademark elements provide a strong and imposing road presence that communicate power and performance.

The sculpted exterior is detailed with exquisite finishes such as a stealth-like front grille and Digital LED lighting units, which create a distinctive Daytime Running Light (DRL) signature. The eye-catching designs, the slimmest ever fitted to a Land Rover, sit above a sculpted, double-aperture lower bumper that incorporates a horizontal bisecting body-colour element that creates greater visual width, enhanced by black detailing.

Perfectly honed design elements are echoed at the rear, incorporating a sculpted tailgate with a full-width feature bearing the Range Rover script. Uninterrupted LED light graphics introduce surface LED technology to a production vehicle for the first time, providing a crisp and contemporary look at night that is vivid and consistent when viewed from any angle. A characteristic shoulder line runs the length of the vehicle, accentuated by new lower fender details and the longest spoiler ever fitted to a Range Rover.

The clean lines of the exterior are enhanced by beautifully executed flush glazing and door handles, a hidden waist rail finisher and laser-welded roof for a precise, technical and sophisticated appearance. These design-enabling technologies contribute to excellent aerodynamic performance, with New Range Rover Sport delivering a drag coefficient of just 0.29.

The new Dynamic model brings an even sharper focus to the performance SUV's purposeful character with unique exterior design elements. Satin Grey alloy wheels are joined by Satin Burnished Copper finishes for the bonnet louvres and side ingots while the front grille and Range Rover lettering are finished in Matte Graphite Atlas.

With unique front and rear bumpers and bespoke lower cladding finished in body colour, the Dynamic delivers the most dramatic interpretation of the Range Rover Sport formula.

Prof Gerry McGovern OBE, Chief Creative Officer, Range Rover, said: "Our latest range Rover Sport embraces fully our modernist approach of vehicle design whilst amplifying its unquestionable sporting and confident character."

New Range Rover Sport's reductive design extends to its all-new interior, which features the trademark Range Rover Command Driving Position, the latest technologies and the finest materials, which combine for a compelling balance of sartorial elegance and visceral desire. The cockpit-like cabin sets the tone for the dynamic driving experience, providing excellent visibility while simultaneously cocooning the driver with a high, sloping centre console and intuitive technologies.

Innovative and sustainable material choices include tactile and lightweight Ultrafabrics™ premium textiles finished in attractive new Duo Tone colourways, while a unique textile option that extends to the dashboard and door detailing is also available. Alternatives include luxurious grained, Windsor or soft Semi-Aniline leather options.

These tactile materials seamlessly blend with new Moonlight Chrome interior finishers while elements like the integrated audio speakers, developed with Meridian and hidden behind the textile of the rear doors, contribute to the clean, crisp and modern aesthetic.

New Range Rover Sport SV is the most powerful and dynamic Range Rover Sport ever, blending supreme performance and dynamism with peerless Range Rover capability, refinement and reductive design. Its array of performance-enhancing technologies includes the most advanced suspension system in its class and a sensory audio system with wellness benefits.

The modern luxury performance champion takes its place at the pinnacle of a refreshed Range Rover Sport line-up, driving sporting attitude, dynamic ability and assertive presence to the next level.

Inherent to the high-performance credentials of New Range Rover Sport SV, an exclusive airflow-enhanced design delivers a more assertive and grounded aesthetic, with functional lightweight and technical material choices throughout reinforcing its high-performance capabilities.

Powered exclusively by a new 635PS, 750Nm 4.4-litre Twin-Turbo MHEV V8 petrol engine - 60PS and 50Nm more than the previous generation Range Rover Sport SVR's Supercharged 5.0-litre V8 - New Range Rover Sport SV is capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in as little as 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 180mph. CO2 emissions are also 15 per cent lower than the previous model's 575PS V8.

This outstanding performance is enabled by a combination of features that deliver a weight saving of up to 76kg, including the world's first 23-inch Carbon Fibre Wheel option on a production car, Carbon Ceramic Brakes (option available for the first time on a Range Rover), and standard-fit aerodynamic enhancements including a carbon fibre bonnet.

Exemplifying Range Rover's modern luxury philosophy, New Range Rover Sport SV is initially being reserved for select clients globally, with the invitation-only SV EDITION ONE specification representing a curation of the best feature combinations, colours and finishes. Each Range Rover Sport SV EDITION ONE is enhanced with exclusive branding on the front splitter, centre console, treadplates and puddle lamps. Every Range Rover Sport SV EDITION ONE is already allocated to a Range Rover client.

Geraldine Ingham, Managing Director, Range Rover, said: "New Range Rover Sport SV exemplifies Range Rover's philosophy, not just as a bold evolution beyond its Range Rover Sport SVR predecessor, but also in the personalised approach we are taking with our most discerning clients."

REVOLUTIONARY DYNAMICS

New Range Rover Sport SV's 6D Dynamics suspension system is the most sophisticated in its class, debuting a world-first combination of hydraulic interlinked dampers, height-adjustable air springs and pitch control. This revolutionary semi-active system, which removes the need for conventional anti-roll bars, dramatically reduces pitch and roll to maintain a near-level body stance during extreme cornering and acceleration, while also reducing weight, increasing grip, and benefiting comfort and refinement.

Riding between 10mm and 25mm lower than other Range Rover Sport models, depending on the drive mode selected, New Range Rover Sport SV's 6D Dynamics suspension works seamlessly with the suite of advanced chassis and suspension systems. Unique SV-tuned settings are applied to the Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, All-Wheel Steering, Torque Vectoring by Braking, Configurable Dynamics and Active Locking Rear Differential to deliver a more focused, sports car-like driving experience - especially in the all-new driver-selectable SV Mode.

Nick Collins, Executive Director, Vehicle Programmes, JLR, said: "New Range Rover Sport SV delivers an optimum blend of supreme performance, unrivalled desirability, capability and refinement. It's a visceral addition to the Range Rover Sport line-up that powerfully demonstrates the world-class expertise of our high-performance specialists."

New Range Rover Sport SV also features specially developed chassis components including a new rear subframe and new suspension links with revised geometry and compliance. A new electronically power-assisted steering rack has the fastest ratio of any Range Rover to date, for enhanced agility and feel.

For the first time on a Range Rover, 305-section rear tyres are fitted, which are 20mm wider than the 285-section front tyres. This arrangement, with standard-fit Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tyres, enables a rear-biased dynamic setup enhancing grip, stability and traction. Increased rear roll stiffness also helps deliver immediate steering responses.

Demonstrating the combined benefits of these technologies, New Range Rover Sport SV is capable of generating lateral acceleration in excess of 1.1G on all-season tyres. That represents a 22 per cent increase on the previous generation Range Rover Sport SVR on summer tyres and is comparable to track-focused sports cars.

Enhancing its on-road dynamic capability, every New Range Rover Sport SV benefits from a specially developed high-performance braking system, with clients able to choose between standard mixed-metal Dual-Cast and optional Carbon Ceramic braking technologies.

Carbon Ceramic Brakes (CCB), available for the first time on a Range Rover, deliver ultimate braking performance with improved resistance to high temperatures, a longer lifespan and 34kg total un-sprung weight reduction versus the uprated Dual-Cast iron brake discs fitted as standard to New Range Rover Sport SV. This reduction in mass at each corner of the car results in even more responsive handling, faster acceleration and improved ride quality.

Whichever braking technology is specified, the unique eight-piston Brembo Octyma front calipers are the largest ever fitted to a Range Rover. Developed exclusively for New Range Rover Sport SV and sculpted to complement Range Rover Sport SV's reductive design, the calipers incorporate a unique cross-shape piston arrangement to maximise braking efficiency. Exclusive customisable caliper colours include Yellow, Red, Carbon Bronze and Black.

To further reduce mass, New Range Rover Sport SV clients can choose the first ultra-lightweight 23-inch Carbon Fibre Wheels fitted to a production vehicle. Available as an option, these innovative split five-spoke wheels save almost 9kg per corner - a total of 35.6kg - compared with conventional 23-inch cast-alloy wheels, resulting in improvements to outright performance, handling and ride quality. While incredibly light, they are engineered and tested to the toughest durability and robustness standards - the same as Range Rover's cast or forged alloy wheels.

Maximising the benefit of New Range Rover Sport SV's uprated dynamic hardware, drivers can intensify the car's sporting attitude by pressing the new SV Mode button on the steering wheel. A step beyond Range Rover Sport's existing Dynamic mode, SV Mode optimises the steering, eight-speed automatic gearbox, throttle response, exhaust note and 6D Dynamics suspension system - including lowering the ride height by an additional 15mm - to deliver the most dynamic and visceral experience possible. SV Mode also allows the track-oriented TracDSC stability control programme to be activated, for drivers to more freely explore New Range Rover Sport SV's dynamic balance.

ASSERTIVE DESIGN

New Range Rover Sport SV's high-performance-honed exterior design includes an exclusive airflow-enhanced front-end, reprofiled lower body sides and functional carbon fibre-tipped quad tailpipes for the active exhaust system as focal points of the rear aspect. Carbon fibre detailing on the Range Rover script, front bumper blades, grille surround, bonnet vents and side vents can be supplemented with an exposed finish for the centre section of the carbon fibre bonnet.

Prof. Gerry McGovern OBE, Chief Creative Officer, JLR, said: "New Range Rover Sport SV's clean and reductive design amplifies its dramatic proportions and sporting personality."

Inside the cockpit-like cabin, exclusive satin carbon fibre-backed SV Performance Seats feature integrated headrests, more sculpted bolsters and illuminated SV logos on their backrests. A new Ultrafabrics™ PU interior is available, with lightweight, seamless, '3D Knit to form' textile. World-first translucent edge-lit gear shift paddles nestle behind a steering wheel with more pronounced thumb grips, while black ceramic for the console gear shifter gives a cool-to-touch feel.

SENSORY IMMERSION

Raising that sense of connection even higher, New Range Rover Sport SV introduces Body and Soul Seat (BASS), a multi-dimensional audio experience with wellness benefits which allows front seat occupants to feel the sound. This is the first production vehicle to incorporate a tactile audio system from industry leader SUBPAC™ - technology used by the world's top recording artists and composers.

Incorporating SUBPAC™ AI optimising software, and transducers aligned to front seat occupants' backs, Body and Soul Seat analyses media in real-time, generating high fidelity audio vibrations to create the most engaging and immersive in-car audio. This system works in combination with the 29-speaker, 1430W, Meridian Signature Sound System

Beyond immersion in music, the Body and Soul Seat Wellness programmes can help enhance New Range Rover Sport SV's front-seat occupants' mental and physiological wellbeing by influencing heart rate variability (HRV) - the variation in time between each heartbeat. High HRV is indicative of lower stress levels and relaxation.

Designed in collaboration with Coventry University's National Transport Design Centre and the School of Media and Performing Arts, six specially developed tracks - Poise, Soothe, Serene, Cool, Tonic and Glow - could affect passengers' HRV, either helping to reduce anxiety or improve cognitive response, studies have shown.

SV INTRODUCTION LEADS ENHANCEMENTS TO RANGE ROVER SPORT LINE-UP

In addition to the introduction of New Range Rover Sport SV, the line-up has received a suite of updates, including a new plug-in electric hybrid with extended EV range, and the integration of the latest generation Pivi Pro infotainment technology.

Performance and efficiency are enhanced with an updated plug-in electric hybrid powertrain, with the new P550e - replacing the P510e - offering EV range of up to 121km (75 miles) for swifter and more relaxed journeys, as well as CO2 emissions from 15g/km.

The new P550e electric hybrid with its new transmission set-up joins the Range Rover Sport's extensive powertrain line-up. When combined with the 3.0-litre six-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine, the electric hybrid produces 550PS and 800Nm of torque.

The enhanced electric motor and transmission make the electric hybrid more responsive than ever, reducing the time it takes to reach 100km/h by 5.0 seconds under pure electric power. Utilising both power sources, the P550e can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds (0-60mph in 4.7 seconds), compared to 5.4 seconds previously (5.2 seconds 0-60mph).

Additionally, the P530 V8 powertrain now uses Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) technology for the first time. The MHEV system delivers increased efficiency by harvesting energy captured when decelerating and braking, and improved responses as the stored energy is redeployed under acceleration. When combined with other benefits of the system, including smoother operation of the start/stop functionality, these attributes deliver an improvement in CO2 emissions.

Range Rover Sport's beautifully crafted and reductive interior has also been enriched with intuitive new technologies. Combining effortless connectivity and the latest touchscreen, the Pivi Pro infotainment provides intuitive control of all vehicle functions through the elegant 13.1-inch floating glass display.

New sidebars with easy-to-use sliders for the volume and climate control provide immediate and precise operation for key functions directly, whatever menu screen is displayed, and approximately 80 per cent of tasks can be performed within two taps of the home screen. Haptic feedback provides an added level of tactility and communication with the user.

Integrated Amazon Alexa voice AI and Land Rover voice control systems help drivers to keep their eyes on the road while making changes to the cabin environment. Advanced Software Over The Air capability keeps Range Rover Sport up to date with the latest software.

New Country Road Assist technology features for the first time on Range Rover Sport to enhance passenger comfort when using Adaptive Cruise Control. The intelligent system uses navigation data to automatically adjust the target speed, taking into account bends in the road and changes to the speed limit, effortlessly accelerating or decelerating the vehicle accordingly.

The enhanced Range Rover Sport line-up is available now priced from £83,620 (OTR) in the UK.

The rear end of the new RangeRover EV looks so sleek and modern. I saw one today while going to work and didn't realize what model it was as there were no markings the rear (other than Range Rover). I passed it but the front looked like any other RRs. I couldn't snap any pictures unfortunately. Later after doing a search I figured the EV is supposed to launch only in 2025. So that must be a preproduction model doing road trials which I saw.

I'm sure some of you guys would have seen it in the wild. Any opinions.

That's not the EV, it's the gas one. The EV isn't out yet.
