Lamborghini: HyperVeloce News

From here: Lamborghini to unveil HyperVeloce with 800 PS at Pebble Beach

Lamborghini is reportedly ready to reveal the HyperVeloce supercar during the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Last week we reported Lamborghini is planning a private unveiling of a new supercar during next month’s Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and now it has emerged the vehicle in question will be called the HyperVeloce. It will reportedly be based on the Aventador and feature a 6.5-liter V12 engine with 800 PS (588 kW).

No further details are available at the moment, but according to previous rumors the production will be limited to only 30 units – 20 coupes and 10 roadsters. A public debut could take place during the 2015 IAA in September.

From here: The Supercar Kids ? New Lamborghini Hypercar Not To Be Released Until Geneva

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann has confirmed that Lamborghini will be releasing a one-off hypercar, like the Veneno. The bad news is, the car will not make its public debut until March at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

Lamborghini have invited a very small number of exclusive guests to Monterey this week to view the limited new model, which is rumoured to be called ‘Hyperveloce’. It is unclear whether Lamborghini will actually show the guests the actual physical car, or just renders and images of what the car will look like.

Our sources suggest that despite Lamborghini’s hostile opinions towards electric and hybrid technologies, the new model will be a hybrid to better content with the Porsche 918, La Ferrari and McLaren P1.

Are we assuming its built on the Aventador chassis or is this a completely new project?

For all the cars on display during the Pebble Beach weekend, the most exclusive show took place in a locked room — where a handful of wealthy guests got to see Lamborghini unveil a hologram.

The unique presentation was a teaser for a vehicle the Italian sports car maker won’t unveil for another seven months at the 2016 Geneva motor show. Lamborghini declined to discuss details, but Yahoo Autos has learned the new car will be a rare and expensive beast — starting around $1.2 million, with just 20 copies set to be built.

Such a program falls in line with previous Lamborghini low-volume specialty cars: the Veneno coupe and roadster, and the Reventon. It also means the new Lamborghini will be far rarer than the hybrid hypercars — the McLaren P1, the LaFerrari and Porsche 918 — that will likely be its performance target.

It’s a unique strategy; while high-end luxury carmakers will customize any and every feature for the right price (and in the case of McLaren and Ferrari, even build cars to customer designs), only Lamborghini has done so many limited models in recent years unique exteriors and performance. Only 12 Venenos — three coupes and nine roadsters — were built.

Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini’s chief executive, said the strategy worked as both a branding exercise and a way for the company’s engineers to flex beyond the usual daily rigors by building street-legal machines.

“We want to showcase innovations…there are still a lot of ideas in our heads,” Winkelmann told Yahoo Autos. “We don’t want to do concept cars for the museum. We want to give customers the potential to enjoy the cars on the road.”

Beyond the new hypercar, Lamborghini has several other models in progress, ahead of its biggest project in years, the launch of the Urus SUV in 2018. By the time that model hits full production, Lamborghini will likely have doubled its output from the roughly 3,000 cars it sells annually worldwide.

“We have focused, by necessity, on the super sports cars,” Winkelmann said. “Now the brand is ready for the next step.”

So, it would appear the name may not be the HyperVeloce...

Source: Lamborghini?s Next Supercar Special To Be The Centenario LP 770-4?

Lamborghini has just taken the wraps of its new Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster. The car comes with 739 horsepower and a price tag above half a million but still it’s not extreme enough for some of the marque’s clientele.

That’s why Lamborghini offers limited-run models like 2007’s Reventón and the more recent Veneno, and now a new one is coming. We’ve already reported that the car is expected to be produced in a run of just 20 examples, and that it will make its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show next March.

Now, France’s TF1 (via World Car Fans) has managed to dig up a few more details. The car is said to be called the Centenario LP 770-4, which if accurate suggests it will be the most powerful Lamborghini ever launched.

Centenario is Spanish for “Centenary” and was apparently chosen to honor the 100th anniversary of the birth of Lamborghini founder Feruccio Lamborghini on April 28, 1916. The LP 770-4, meanwhile, would mean the car’s engine will be longitudinally-mounted at the rear, develop 770 metric horsepower (759 hp for American readers) and drive all four wheels.

The Centenario LP 770-4 name provides one further potential clue. It would mean the car won't be a hybrid, as some of the previous rumors claimed, since then we’d see a letter I, representing Ibrido, Italian for “Hybrid”, in the name just like on 2014’s Asterion LPI 910-4 hybrid concept car.

What other information is there? Well, the car is said to be capable of hitting 62 mph in just 2.7 seconds, which is 0.2 of a second quicker than the Aventador on which it will likely be based. Top speed is said to be in excess of 217 mph, and the price tag should start at 1 million euros (approximately $1.12 million)—a bargain compared to the multiples of millions paid for the Veneno specials.
