I don't know if I'm just oblivious to the old cars.
Would not be surprised to know they get put on a boat and shipped to China.

Maybe, he meant that they go there to be scrapped for metal? I would hope he doesn't think that Chinese people can't afford a new BMW, Audi, or Merc. Anyways, I think scrap metal is one of our highest exports to China, so it may make sense, tho, I would hardly quantify a 4 year old car to be scrap metal.

Consumer Reports pans Infiniti Q50, Lexus IS 250

Infiniti Q50:

The Q50 replaces the G37 in the brand's line, as Infiniti shifts all its models to "Q" names.

While CR rated the car "very good," and was "very quick, even with the added weight of the optional all-wheel-drive system," the magazine says, the Q50 "has taken a step back from its excellent predecessor," and ranked near the bottom among its premium sports sedan rivals.

"The Infiniti G has been one of Consumer Reports' highest-rated sedans for many years, but after its 2014 redesign and transition to the new Q designation, this car seems to have lost its way," said Jake Fisher, director of CR's automotive testing.

CR says: "The Q50 isn't as much fun to drive as the G37. Handling is mundane, due in part to dull steering.

"The underwhelming driving experience strips the car of much of its sporty legacy. The Q50 also doesn't ride well and isn't particularly quiet.'

Infiniti has promoted the car's high-tech luxury, but CR found "its new InTouch dual-screen controls are slow to respond, and interior quality is nothing special."

Infiniti noted that the Q50 received a "very good" rating, and says the car company's "engineers are analyzing the publication's findings."

Infiniti said it's reasonable the Q didn't get a "recommended" rating because it's a new model and has no track record for reliability, which is a key element of CR scoring.

The carmaker forecast good reliability and said: "We feel strongly that once these reliability results are in, our new luxury sports sedan will be on Consumer Reports' 'recommended' list.

To make CR's "recommended" list a car or truck must have average or better reliability in CR's annual reader ownership surveys, in addition to doing well in CR's tests and getting good scores in government and industry crash tests.

Well that's disappointing. It may be one of my favorite looking Infiniti models to date, too.

Really!? It looks like an ugly elephant next to G37.

Most of the reviews I read up on Q50 were all pretty bad. Not surprising on that CR test.

G37>Q50 easily

Hopefully they make up for it when they redesign the G37 coupe/Q60

I'd have to agree with Costco. The Q50 looks better than the G37. Too bad the interior is still meh.

Performance-wise, it may have taken a step back, but I find the interior far better than the G37. The noise they're talking about is probably true, and in large part thanks to the lame run-flats the car comes with.

Also, if Infiniti's going to talk about their rating suffering due to no track record for reliability since it's a new car, they're starting off on the wrong foot. The number of lock-up and oddball issues in their InTouch system by early-adopters is just sad. Especially when the only way to fix them sometimes is by rebooting the system via pushing a button or pulling over and restarting the damn car.

Damn you, Infiniti, this was going to be my next car (well, after the ATS seems to have struck out ...)

I am not feeling the Q50 at all looks wise. It's harder and harder to distinguish it from an Altima or Maxima. I am a bit surprised that it's driving dynamics are taking steps backwards. The IS also did not get recommended by CR. This may be a sliver of a chance for the TLX to make a good impression. I doubt it. It will probably be as Milquetoast as the RLX.

If you guys are not feeling the look, then forget the driving experience. I tested one recently and it does not drive well at all.

I also love the new Mazda6 to be fair, it's one of those cars that looks better in pictures. It looks humongous in person.

I don't think the car looks bad at all, they just missed the mark, by a long shot. I still see a Hyundai whenever I see one from the rear.

I just saw this ... And no, I didn't think that Chinese were too poor to buy new ones

But there's a strong market for used cars leaving the US and going all over the world (both legally and illegally) and seeing as China is one of the fastest growing markets in the world, I would have thought that perhaps someone that couldn't swing a new 3-series limo might still be interested in a used 328i from the States that has been very well looked after ... Especially if import tariffs aren't the same.

Meh, they reviewed the IS 250 instead of the 350 and I see IS's all over the place. They're selling like crazy. Although, I see a ton of 250's. No way I'm spending $40k+ on that engine.

I am not really into the Q50. I own a G35, G37 as a loaner car and now i am driving the Q50 as a Loaner. The G35/37 is just better and easier to work w/. I don't like the Q50 center console at all.

Check back with Infinity in 5 years.....or maybe a bit more when they get their MOJO back.

Nothing in their line-up currently is inspiring. From polarizing / ugly designs, to lowering the performance bar....Infinity has an identity crisis.

Q50 definitely misses the mark compared to its predecessor as far as the driving experience. The interior is an improvement, but some of the new tech just ruins the drive. There is such a thing as too much technology.

Post Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Concept

From here: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...image-released

Nissan's luxury brand is seeing red.
The Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge concept isn't scheduled to appear until the 2014 Detroit Auto Show in a couple of weeks, but Infiniti decided to show it off early.

The first official image of the Eau Rouge--named after a famous corner at Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps circuit--depicts are car that would be just as at home at SEMA as Detroit. The second image, below, shows its full side profile.

Designed to leverage Infiniti's relationship with Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull Racing, the Eau Rouge features aggressive carbon-fiber bodywork, including a front splitter, rear diffuser, side skirts, roof, and door mirror casings. However, this isn't just a body kit: Infiniti says the shape of every panel except the roof and doors has been changed.

The result is a car that's much lower and wider than a stock Q50, and slipperier. Completing the redesign is a set of 21-inch forged alloy wheels, a dual sport exhaust system, and an integrated rear spoiler.

Infiniti didn't mention any mechanical modifications; it may be saving those details for the Eau Rouge's Detroit unveiling. The 2014 Q50 is available with a 3.7-liter V-6 that produces 328 horsepower, or as a hybrid with a 3.5-liter V-6 and an electric motor, producing a combined total of 360 hp.

However, for better or worse, the Q50 is best known for its optional Direct Adaptive Steering, a "steer-by-wire" system with no physical connection between the steering and road wheels. It's already been the subject of one recall, but the Q50 did garner a 5-Star Overall NHTSA Safety Rating.

Let's be honest. Q50 isnt a bad car or ugly car.

It is just not as good as it should have been. It was the closest thing you can get next to a 3 series. Now it just disappeared.
and the stupid name change does not help either.

It was so good at the time that many people viewed G35C above 330i.
280hp in 2003 is like saying 350hp today in its class.

I remember seeing 1 turning on the street and that was all it took for me to get 1 one week later in 2003

Let's just agree that she isn't pretty....not one bit.

Infiniti has completely lost it's way the way Acura has.

Goofy looking sea creature designs, and not really class leaders in most segments.

It's sad, because at one time, like Acura, they were really on the move.

If you must choose between Infiniti Q50 or Acura TL, which one would you choose?

Yah i thought so. So Infiniti is not as bad as Acura.
