Infiniti Rules Out M Coupe

Last week, there had been talk that a new sketch from Infiniti, which featured brush-stroked vehicle outlines, indicated that the carmaker will be launching a two-door version of its new 2011 M sedan.

However, Infiniti denied this, saying that the sketch is a preview of some models that will be introduced at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this year. In fact, an Infiniti spokesperson gave a statement that the idea of an M coupe is “so far off the charts.” The tease that came out during the official drive program for the 2011 QX sport utility, shows 2 “product extensions.” 1 has the design of a “volume-oriented” luxury vehicle while the other is a “performance-oriented” offering. A source said that the sketch previews the G sedan and coupe. Already, fans are excited about seeing a four-cylinder G model and a G37 version that could rival the Lexus’ IS F-Sport range.

Remember, they are now going to have to focus on hybrids and other fuel saving technology in order to meet the damn Obama Cafe Standards by 2016 and right now, their entire line-up doesn't even come close to 35mpg! I almost think it would be cooler if Infiniti's flagship was a large sport luxury sedan in the mold of the Quattroporte or Panamera rather than a more traditional approach like the Q originally was.

Something different IMHO, because not everyone needs to try the same mold.

Its one thing to not like a car or a brand, its another to crap on it and the people who drive them. Its obvious if you read back in Smarty666's posts that he is NOT an Acura fan and craps on them and us owners as he is an opinionated POS. I am a Acura fan. I had a 2006 before my 2008 so yeah, I'm not a Acura fan except for being a repeat customer! The only thing I've complained about is the new TL and its questionable styling choices, size, etc and the ZDX in its styling and looks department. Oh because, I don't like some of the things Acura is done but that doesn't mean I'm not a proud owner of my own TL, which still to this day looks absolutely classy and perfect in size! That doesn't mean I'm not a proud owner of the one I HAVE. At least it is not as butt ugly looking as the current one!

Infiniti gets lumped in with Nissan for CAFE. So every Leaf they sell makes a difference. But now CAFE includes some per model rules, too (which kind of makes it sort-of-CAFE since it is not strictly a Corporate Average).

lol!! Anyway, I just read on the Infiniti news forum that they put in and got approved the use of the term Infiniti Performance Line! I wander if down the road, they are going to start doing what BMW, Lexus, and Audi has begun doing in having a specific high performance model for some of there regular model line-up? I guess it is a logical direction to go.
