Went to Infiniti.com and BMWusa.com , base price of M56 RWD is $57.5k, and base price of 550i is $59k.
I loaded the M56 with the Tech package, sport touring package, and sport package, and total with destination and handling fee is $67k.
I loaded the 550i with active ventilated seat pkg, cold weather pkg, driver assistance pkg, premium pkg 2, and sport package, and the total with destination and handling fee is $69.5k.
Basically, on the Bimmer, I did not add the dynamic handling package (I'm assuming this is for getting the adaptive damping suspensions) because I don't think the M56 even offers this option.

And the eye-opener is the closeness in price. Given how the new 5-er looks, why wouldn't a person in the market for these cars go for the BMW or even a Mercedes-Benz E-Class...?
Or Audi A6! So many choices...

^^ There are some fantastic choices out there that's for sure...and some very tough competition for Infiniti.....ya gotta bring your A game to this category.

I don't see the point of the M Hybrid if the Tesla Model S turns out to be any good. It should be at least as quick, uses no fuel, and looks like THAT. I mean that's the type of car that's going to get a lot of "Whaddizthat?" from passerby. There's probably not as much ultimate tech but lots of cool touches, like the center dash, all leather interior, sensory door handles.
And it should be a decent sport sedan with the batteries all between the axles and under the floorboards.

I kinda agree with you on this one with regards to the M56. With that vehicle loaded up, I'd be in a BMW or Lexus before that. I mean that price is almost encroaching into the base trim levels of the LS! I think if you got a M37 and loaded it up with 1 or 2 package that might not be too bad price wise but anything more than that is just too much. Though when the next Gen G comes out, I'll probably would just retract everything I just said and get that . Just my though!

I sat in the M56 yesterday while picking up my FX at the dealership...what an interior.
I dunno...hard choice if I were in the market for this type of car. I'd have to drive all of them first. Still, I think the M56 looks terrific...

Definitely can't argue with you about the interior. It is just simply gorgeous and the nicest Infiniti has ever produced. The interior in the new M I think is at least up to the competition finally after all these years of just being a little bit below in a few areas! I suspect and hope, Infiniti will upgrade the G Sedan interior in the next generation up to this standard!

I drove a M56 last week and I loved it. It was much more comfortable than my Dad's 05 G35x. The interior was gorgeous and wasn't underdone considering the price of the car.

The FX is another great example, my FX was about $42k back in 2005, while the exact same FX today with similar equipment, etc is about $47-48k.
The prices are jumpin!! while the years keep a goin!

With that said, a M56 Coupe sounds interesting. But Infiniti still needs to introduce a class that completes directly with the ///M, ISF, and Audi S.

i didn't know it was THAT expensive.
No way I'll take M56 over 550i.
Infiniti is a very very good bang for the buck sorta car imo.

I'm tellin ya if the M56 Coupe (whenever it comes out) is as good looking as the sedan, and its priced comparably or less than the next 6 series coupe which is supposedly heavily based on the Gran Coupe concept, Acura/Honda can then offically kiss my ass. I'm tired of waiting for a decent coupe, when they think its makes more sense to bring out the ZDX nonsense.

Right? I should have gave up al ong time ago..
As you can see by my Av though I went with the Accord Coupe for now...
But when I'm done with this one, i'll definitly (well hopefully if the economy doesn't get any worse - fat chance- ) -- be ready to move up market... and I really want it to be an Acura... but doesnt seem like thats gonna happen...

You do realize that even if Acura came out with a coupe, it would be likely a reincarnation of the CL which is in the same tier as the TL...which is nowhere close to the caliber of a 6-series or M-series...?

wow, I totally forgot that this price range creeps into CTS-V territory. I agree with you guys.... CTS-V > *
PLUS, you can get a CTS-V in 6MT, and in coupe, sedan, or wagon flavor throw in the suede Recaros too, and IMO you've got the nicest interior.

my accord was much closer to 30k... but i get your point... and hopefully yess in a years once all the student loans and other crap is paid off I'd like to think I could pay 60 for a car...
I could have afforded more than 30k this time around if i had to... just didn't want a G37, or 3 series... wanted to keep it in the Honda family... dont know why, i'm just a honda nut... plus with other things to pay off didn't think it made sense to splurge on a car at this point in my life.

Perhaps 60k is a bit of a lofty goal.. but a guy can dream can't he? lol and if i fail and end up with a 45k SHAWD 300hp+ 6spd 3rd gen Acura CL... that'd be a nice compromise I think
my personal finances and future goals/hopes aside though I think my bigger point is acura would have had an easier time selling a CL similar to my description above than the ZDX they're now peddling for 50k+..
#1198
I really like the looks and style of the CTS-V but my God, do you know how close to the ground that thing is? You'll be producing sparks like no tomorrow!
#1199
My old Integra was probably much lower than a stock CTS-V. I don't have my computer with me, so I don't have any pics, but my DB7 was pretty low. Had to go into plazas diagonally.
