The other scenario is Hyundai makes a lot of money, but never really establishes an image or direction yet "talks" like they do but does nothing to back up the talk, and are comformtable with this situation because they are still making money and enthusiasts and members at Hyundaizine.com bitch and whine about it and move on to other makes.
Does this situation sound familiar to anyone?

i'd think it's natural for someone to have a bias for a carmaker from his/her country.

Hell, I think Acura would probably be in a much better position if it were owned by another company...but since it is not, they are simply getting "pwned" by the competition.
I was right.... Not long ago I created a thread called "Acura will get PWNed by Hyundai Genesis" in the race competition section.
I too support Hyundai. To better put, I support Korean products. I am Korean. YOu got problem with that?

well that's the automotive world, you can't be "pwning" everyone the whole time can't you? Acura pwned others for long enough (well, depends on how you define pwn I guess), time for a little break lol

Hyundai: Design Lead Steps Down
hyundai design head steps down
the hyundai genesis coupe hasn’t even hit the market yet, but is poised to become a successful continuation of the automaker’s genesis sedan. Unfortunately for hyundai, the driving force behind the genesis coupe will not be around to see the car’s launch as joel piaskowski – hyundai’s u.s. Design chief – is resigning from the korean automaker.
Piaskowski, 40, headed up hyundai’s u.s. Design operations and was the man responsible for the sleek genesis coupe, along with hyundai’s hcd concepts. Piaskowski joined hyundai in january 2003, according to automotive news.
Neither piaskowski nor hyundai has given a reason for the departure, and no future plans have been announced by either side.
Before joining hyundai, piaskowski worked on general motors’ buick, pontiac and gmc brands, as well as the company’s german opel division.

oof!
Designer: Here's a brand new design concept, never done before, it'll finally lift us out of our "cookie-cutter, copy-cat" stigma. No one can possibly look at this and point out any design influences from any other brand.
Hyundai: No.

It's going to get worst next year..
