Honda: Pilot News

2007 Acura RD-X SUV First Photos & 2006 Honda Pilot facelift - - Text & photos courtesy Brenda Priddy & Company - - Source: www.japanesecarfans.com

2006 Honda Pilot facelift

To most, these mild changes may go unnoticed, but NOT to Honda enthusiasts! They tend to notice ever the smallest changes - even in a piece of trim or the color of a knob.

So, to keep them happy - we've got a few picture of the 2006 Honda Pilot. Unfortunately it's wearing a bit of camouflage to hide the changes, but we're told that minor revisions have been made front and rear fascias, as well as sporting brand new headlamps.

The revised 2006 Pilot should be at dealerships sometime this coming fall.

I see body-colored door handles, side marker lights, projector headlamps and what appears to be a more aggressive (and possibly uglier) grill. Overall, not bad for a refresh. I hope they give it some nicer exhaust tips and tailamps in the back. Too bad they didn't increase the wheel size, they look tiny. Overall, not much of a change, but it's just a refesh anyhow. Much less drastic than the new Accord sedan refresh.

I wonder if they want to give it the Ridgeline grill.

Honda doesn't seem to be very good at exterior designs.

Their getting worse. Acura's the Ody and CR-V are IMO their only decent looking exteriors.

I guess this looks more truckish but I'm not feeling it.

I don't usually come out and say this til i see it in person but that iss uggggglllly It looks so...awkward

to me it looks like theyu just through a set of fogs on (they looks funny there), and trimmed the headlights a bit, but yuck YUCK.

On a more positive note, looks like the fender blinkers are confirmed and the new wheels look decent.

Actually now that i look at it again, i kinda like the first pic with the blue one, altho the lights look like Rav 4 ones, but the second one looks like a...hyundai accent as someone else says...i guess ill have to wait till i see it in person

Eh. It looks like they're brought it's truck styling from the Ridgeline, and transplanted it here. I don't like it at all.

They should have put the Ridgeline front end on it.

They should have just used the agressive Rigeline lights and grille. I like the front on the Ridgeline.

I don't like the ridgeline and I agree that they should have just used the same exact front end if that was the direction they wanted to go with trucks/suvs.

Spy Shots: ’06 Honda Pilot - - by KGP Photography - - Source: The Car Connection

The Honda Pilot will get a facelift this fall, as seen in these photos of a prototype caught almost completely undisguised in Nevada.

The facelift is centered exclusively on the Pilot's front end, with a bolder, squared-off grille that juts out at the top, giving the front fascia a more blunt profile. The new grille is accompanied by more angular headlight lenses, which incorporate more precise-looking jewelry and projector-beam style bulbs.

A reworked hood and reshaped fenders complete the more aggressive new look. All told, the revised styling puts a more a bit more sport in the Pilot's sport-utility recipe.

It appears that no changes are scheduled for the Pilot's rear end. Likewise, a peek inside the prototype revealed no changes for the Pilot's interior.

No, they are halogen projectors. I've seen one in person, and when they turned on the headlights they were halogens.

Ya if MDX doesn't have HIDs then why would Pilot have them.

Seriously, they need to put HIDs on MDX.

So true, but AHMC is apparently anti-auto leveling (in other words, too cheap). And auto-leveling would be necessary for us to see xenon headlamps on an SUV. However, I have high hopes that the next MDX will have them.

BTW--this Pilot is slowly growing on me. Looked downright terrible at first, however. Looks okay now.

That is a step in a better direction. With all the hopped up SS Trailblazers and shit, Honda needed something that looks mean at least. Now give us a V-8.

Arrow Honda releases sketches of next Pilot

Early look: Honda Pilot prototype

December12
Honda has released a sketch of its Pilot prototype ahead of the SUV's debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January. Like the automaker did last year with the Accord Coupe Concept, look for the Pilot prototype to be very close to the production model.

No details were released with the sketch, but next-generation Pilot will take on a more rugged SUV look. Honda says the Pilot "will emphasize authentic SUV styling, clever interior packaging and advanced technologies for safety, fuel efficiency and convenience."
The Pilot's eight-passenger seating is expected to be retained in the next iteration.

Spy photographers spotted a Pilot prototype out testing earlier this year.
