Street Spirit, I looked for more pictures and now I know what you're talking about. I generally don't care about interior materials much (I drive a Camaro FFS) but I HATE plastic steering wheels. IMO the things that should NEVER be smooth/shiny hard-to-the-touch plastic in a car are the steering wheel, shift knob, door pull, and armrest.

I didn't know that was what the Sienna's interior looked like... it does look like they put more thought into the actual styling of the interior compared to the previous gen, but I don't like this asymmetrical look that Toyota is doing on the Sienna and RX350.

^Thats the interior of a Lexus?!

It looks so ugly...and people make fun of the new Acuras for having too many buttons...I would rather have lots of buttons than an odd shaped dash like that

Honda's rationale for keeping the sliding tracks is because they say the hidden tracks (which run along the lower edge of the 3rd row windows) are prone to failure since they're not as strong.

although i don't really read any owner's complaints from the Sienna about such "failures"...
Yep and the other reason is safety. On the 3G Oddy intro there was something about the mid-track placement allowing the structure to be stronger for not only the guide mechanism but also adds to side impact protection. So it may not be as pleasing to look at but it does provide more protection than a top-track door.

I was shocked the first time I saw the interior of some of the Lexus cars. I cannot stand that weird shaped center console.

New Ody looks a little off. Interior is gorgeous, but the exterior....ick. The back third of the van looks like a totally different vehicle than the first 2/3 because of that indented character line. And the grille...yuck. Looks like they restyled the front and slapped it on the existing rear end, and it does not mesh together.

A diesel engine would also be good in this application, but oh wait, they canceled diesels.

From TOV http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=911815

We have heard from sources (on the dealer side) that the upcoming 2011 Honda Odyssey will indeed offer an all-new 6-speed automatic transmission, but it would only be offered in the Touring and Touring Elite trim levels. This would explain why Honda says all models will have the same VCM V6, yet only certain models will achieve the claimed 19/28mpg fuel economy ratings. Also note that in the current Odyssey generation, the VCM V6 (which improves EPA fuel economy ratings by 1mpg city, and 2mpg highway) is only available in EX-L and Touring models, so this isn't necessarily surprising news.
Wow..

"Honda, where being environmentally friendly isn't free"

You guys will never be happy. Finally Honda puts out a 6 sp like you've been asking for years, and you complain because it's only available in an expensive minivan.

Exactly, a 6 speed transmission is a technological rarity that should only be reserved for the most exclusive and high end product.

Pay no attention to the 2009 VW Rabbit on my driveway that has a 6 speed. :smitler:

For Honda....a six speed is high tech.

...so is direct injection.

...so is dual clutch gearbox

When a new Fiesta will offer a 6-speed

Gotta love Honda sometimes!

I'm not convinced Honda needs to jump on the DI boat, though. The main improvements affect forced inducted engines. This isn't to say there aren't results for NA engines, but they're minimal enough that I think it's smarter to just leave it on the table for the future if necessary. Ford did that with the new Cyclone series (3.5 and 3.7) and Chrysler did with the new Phoenix series.

Honda, Power of Half Assed Dreams

Every thing they have been doing is Half Assed.

You take the time to "FINALLY" get out a 6 speed, and YET only SOME of your vehicles get it and the rest still get the old crap.

Yuck. It's clear to me that Honda didn't try too hard with this redesign overall. They just wanted something that looked new to stimulate sales and let it go.

Definitley looks better in black. Hides most of the awkward lines and huge gaps. But a styling miss for the most part IMO. But like biker said, will anyone care? The van has such a great reputation (although mine is a POS) that it won't matter.

I actually like the new Odyssey's design. I was just taken back by the lift in the rear, was not expecting to see that at all. A Ferrari could slide its hood underneath that rear.

I'm very sorry for hijacking the thread.. but has anyone had an experience with Kumho Solus KR21 tires on ody? I'm thinking of getting a set for my dad's right now. His lease will be up in 1 year, so I'm not trying to go for the best tires. Just something that is affordable and decent. Thank you guys!!

Good God what is with Honda and HIDs? You can get them on a CR-Z EX, yet you have to go all the way to the Elite $$$ to get them on the Odyssey.

I get the USB but the hands free?!?!?

"Safety for Everyone....with EX-L or higher"

Who cares that every Kia has it as standard equipment. I presume an AUX connection come standard on every trim? Or am I being an unreasonable Honda hater?

And how about a rear view camera built in to the rearview? If I'm not mistaken every trim of Sienna has that as standard.

I wouldn't hold my breath for the AUX.

...but yea, I must be a hater too for thinking handsfree and usb should be included in a minivan of all vehicles.....but I guess they are reserved for the high end Ford Fiestas of the world.

top of the line CR-Z = 24K, comes with HID
top of the line Odyssey = ~38K (perhaps even higher for the new model)
Touring model of the Odyssey = not 38K but not 24K either - no HID.
