I've seen this picture about 2 years ago. So nothing really has happened yet.
I use to own a CRX HF... and ran out of gas 3 times... no dummy light and the gauge would read that there was fuel still left (unless you shut the engine off and start it again).

I was just going to point that out...that blue CRX render is old.

It's more likely for Honda to simply bring in Integra Type R and Civic Type R instead of building a TSX coupe and CRX.
But too bad, it won't.

The typeR's are low volume cars so its less likely they would be introduced, probably why we haven't seen one since the integra, where a crx could be a volume car if marketed and built right for the segment.
Its not that honda will kill the rsx for a tsx coupe, its that when a new model of the rsx comes out, it will most likely be more luxurious and more in line with the tsx styling and features, effectively making it look like a tsx coupe. They have already begun to reduce rsx production as its seen as diluting the brand.

Civic CRX Set To Storm Back - - By Chris Thorp - - Source: Autoexpress
There's nothing civilised about the new Civic. With the emphasis firmly on making its family hatchback more sporty than ever, Honda has radical plans for the next-generation car - and they include bringing back the CRX badge.
The mag's exclusive spy picture reveals what the all-new model will look like, and shows another interpretation of the Civic shape that has evolved over the past 30 years. The front end will be more rakish, while the current version's MPV-like styling will be smoothed out into a more conventional hatchback form.
While both three and five-door variants are expected to be available from launch - set for 2006 - Honda is also said to be planning a high-performance flagship coupé. That would wear the CRX badge last used in 1997. All versions are certain to get Type R models, with power outputs in excess of 200bhp. Also expect less extreme cars with plenty of visual impact, but without the high running costs of a hot hatch.
However, there will be more to the new Civic than just driving thrills. Honda knows that a large proportion of buyers still place practicality as their top priority, so the five-door is likely to be one of the most versatile family cars on the market. Adapting design ideas from the Jazz, it is expected to get impressive interior space and rear seats that fold away to leave a completely flat load floor.

2,300 lbs sounds a little too heavy for a CRX to me. if it really is an ideal candidate for a "weekend racer" car, they would have to figure out where all that weight comes from ...

I agree with ricecake....the weight of the old crx was the appeal. Those things were so fun and could literally be a transformed to kill most 6 bangers.

Honda Builds a Better Civic: Still no double wishbones but a CRX is coming in two years - - By MARK VAUGHN - - Source: Autoweek
The new 2006 Honda Civic, due this fall, is more fun to drive than the car it replaces, our spies tell us, and there will even be a return of the racer’s favorite CRX badge in 2007. That’s not bad news, is it?
...
Top of the engine chart is the 200-hp version of the K20 four-cylinder that will power the Civic Si and CRX. Civic Si...

I really doubt honda would build another new compact for only niche sales in NA.

Was the previous CRX a RWD car? I can't remember, This new CRX would be a pretty quick little car, think it'll do well against a Mini Cooper?

CRX was always FWD. If the new CRX is around 2800 lbs with the 200 hp K20 w/ LSD, it would destroy a mini cooper s.

I say make a CRX off of the City/Jazz/Fit platform. Keep it at 2300 pounds, R18 or K20 motor and off you go

These rumors don't point to it being like the original economy car though, so far it seems it will be positioned above the si with more power.

Is it possible the new CRX will look similar to the Civic Type R in Europe?
I don't have a link for pictures, but VTEC has some pictures of the Civic Type R from the Geneva Auto Show here: http://www.vtec.net/articles/view-ar...&page_number=2
Would be amazing if we ended up getting the new Civic Type R engine too, supposedly going to be a 250hp I4.
Let see if this image will work:
