Agree with the Prius/Maxima comments. Not really feeling it, but we'll see.

Having a Maxima ass or not. I still think it looks much better than the current gen coupe.

DAMN, that thing is small.
I don't think I'd want to drive something like that in SUV-LAND now a days.

Wow ... Ontario dealer plates. Must be taken outside of Alliston, ON (where they assemble Civics / Acura ELs). If I didn't know any better ... looks like Ottawa St in Windsor!

I like it! Sure, the front end is stubby, but it's growing on me! It certainly owns the current gen Civic! And there are advantages to a small front end. Easy to park, small turning radius, easy to turn, it'll feel zippy and the car's engine is closer to the centre of the car, allowing for better handling (not sure on this one, but I think theoretically it should be like this)

Looks like a regular couple going out on a date - are they beta testing the car with regular folks?

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed but that rear end is showing up everywhere. The Avalon, Maxima, and the revised Accord to name a few are all using that style of rear where the trunk seams to sit into the bumper.

And people complain about cars getting larger and larger every year. Finally the Civic shrinks.

Appearances can be deceiving. I'm almost certain it will have more interior room.

That would be a good thing. As long as it doesn't "feel" large while you're driving it. I wonder if the exterior dimensions shrunk? At least lengthwise and heightwise it APPEARS they did...but we can't be sure at all. There is no way that Honda would reduce interior space.

I think I read something on vtec.net that it is 3 inches longer and wider than the 7th gen

The stubby front end is going to be a hit with the chicks, it looks 'cute'. I think I read somewhere that the demographic for the Civic was evenly split between males and females. If the performance is there, I think Honda will reclaim the sales crown by pleasing both genders.

I agree. You're going to see the slightly modded Civics driven by males, and you're going to see Civics with little monkeys and stuffed animals on the dash driven by females!

IMO, the Civic Si will be a very satisfying machine for the price. And the lack of an automatic option will keep non-enthusiasts away from it, so it won't be like every Civic on the road.

Oh yeah, and the stock wheels and stock exhaust are actually quite nice.

I'm not sure if this is a visual effect of the photo, but it looks like one end of the spoiler goes up and the other goes down. I don't like that! I'm sure it doesn't though. Honda would have made it symmetrical.

The stubby look can go over with whomever, in the end it keeps the car looking like a cheap compact, whether it looks good or bad, instead of a higher class car than it really is.

2nd, if I were deciding about getting a new si, theres no doubt I'd pick up a 05 rsxs after seeing these spy pics, cause for one I can see the si running exactly the same price.

Honestly, I don't like the wheels, they look like the cheap buys off the tirerack, kinda the same thing vw did with the gti concept.

The interior, as usual though, will probably be quite nice.

Reclaiming a sales crown would be easy from a stationary target. Toyota is totally unpredictable, if they come out with a corolla with tc styling cues, think honda can kiss it goodbye, I think it will end up being more radical though.

It's the short overhangs especially in the front that make it look smaller. I bet it's not smaller overall.

Its not so much that I want more overhang, its that the passenger compartment is practically on top of the front wheels.

The rear of ther car looks nice, but thats all I'm really liking so far. The interior pales in comparison to the euro civic and the front of the car looks pretty dull.

Taillights remind me of this:

The interior is pretty nice for a Civic and should be a hit with buyers.

The front-end reminds me of the Saturn Ion series. Like the interior, but I am mixed on the overall car.

Honda certainly took a chance with this one. That interior is a pretty big departure from its conservative past.

The front seats are beautiful, very TSX-esque. They look comfortable. The guage cluster is weird, but not too bad. The steering wheel is the only really nasty thing. I'm not feeling it. They should have stuck with an Accord-style 3 spoke. Nice rims though, beats the current sedan since the new one has bigger size wheels that look clean.

I love it...the Toyota fanboys are picking on the Civic because of its styling saying there's nothing original about the design.

That's great.

BTW--I'm loving this design. Especially the rear end. I see the '06 Accord in it alot. Very nice interior, as well. Should be a hit.

wow, they really ripped off the A4's tail lights. The steering wheel is TERRIBLE, but this looks a LOT better than the other spies hinted it'd be. I think the euro's interior is one of the hottest things I've ever seen, but we're not getting that. Maybe the Si?
