Haha yea that was my first time taking the S2k out on a track. And it was the first corner after the car was sitting at the paddock for 2 hours...so..tires were cold....

you act like the Civic Si comes on some legendary, super duper track tires. I bet you they're no better than what the CR came with, almost ten years ago. The Si is still just an every day car, not a track destroyer.

Oh that was your first day!? Makes sense! haha Yeah the tires shouldn't give up the rear like that, cold tires make so much sense.

Wasn't my first track day, but it was the first time ever at that track, and first time ever tracking the S2k. That track is about 500km away from where Iive..and my local track doesn't allow my S2000 as I'd need aftermarket roll hoop.

Also, I was dumb. I watched another YouTube video of some dude in the S2k entering that corner at 160km/h. But I could only enter at 130km/h. So for that session, I was like, "you know what, there's no way that guy can enter at 160km/h and not me!" So I went in at 145km/h in the above video, and boy, bad mistake...lol.

Well, it turned out that the S2k in the other video was modded with different gearing and wheel sizing, hence the speedometer is quite a bit more optimistic. His lap time doesn't align with the speedometer reading. For instance, on that straightaway before that corner, I could only do 170km/h, and a 700hp M4 could go to 230km/h. The S2k in that other video did 225km/h. That's too high for a NA S2000....so yea..I was dumb for watching the video without thinking...LOL

I think it's just wishful thinking on the seller.
"never driven, towed everywhere" indicates he wants to sell for profit.

LOL true dat.

So after having driven the CTR for over 3000km now, I'm still in honeymoon with the car! It's still a blast to drive, reasonably fuel efficient (25mpg 70% city with A/C on 90% of the time), and quite comfortable.

Some negatives:
- Infotainment system startup time is slow, and sometimes response/loading time is slow. But I find it easy to use now. No volume knob is not an issue for me at all
- The infotainment screen is a dust magnet. I just put a swiffer in my car so that I can wipe it ever few days...lol
- Gear grind from 1st to 2nd gear happens very randomly, like once a week. Seems like an issue but hard to repeat for the dealer. I'm not alone with this issue:

Yea, apparently the fluid might heats up and that could cause the grind. So, ya, I will try swapping the fluid, and may be add a heat shield!

Hey I never had this issue before so I'm new to this (the s2k tranny is perfectly fine!).

Does that stand for GM Synchromesh Friction Material MT fluid? Any link(s) would be appreciated!

heat shield wont do shit.

the honda fluid breaks down, like engine oil you forgot to change for 2 years....to fix it, Honda has to come up with a BRAND new formula...because...as LONG as I can remember, Honda's ALWAYS grind. even in the s2k

swap to GMSMF

General Motors SynchroMesh Friction Modified

It *has* to be the Friction Modified stuff.

Truth be told, it's actually not a GM product anymore, but an AC Delco product. It's exactly the same, they just changed the label. When the change happened, the existing GM labeled bottles just got an AC Delco sticker put on, over top

Synchromesh was amazing in all the Hondas I've owned. But yeah, make sure it's working for others who have CTRs.

+1, S2000 does the same exact thing...except it gets better as it heats up and not worse.

Nice article. Wish I had a DC2 ITR too.

On the other hand, I took my CTR to a local race track for a track day yesterday. Man the car belongs to the track!

funny thing is when the DC2 ITR was new, they languished on dealer lots and they couldn’t give it away

just like in 04-05 they couldn’t give nsx away and was dojng $600 lease specials to move the iron

I would have loved an ITR but even regular integras are they magnets, especially so in my area

They'll leave an ITR on cinder blocks on broad daylight

Haha I really enjoyed that part lol. I was kinda skeptical about some of claims but I guess these are true after all! One of the guys in a modded STi even asked if he can sit in my car for one of my sessions lol.

Wow didn't know that. I guess 20 years ago, most of the "import guys" were still in school and even though US$23k was a bargain back then, that would still be equivalent to USD$35k nowadays...which is still quite a bit of money for a regular student or new grad.

As for the NSX, haha the same thing seems to be happening now for the new model. I saw on NSXprime where one dude got his for $122k. Granted, it was pretty much the base model without PCCB. IMO, I wouldn't mind at all since it still has the hybrid system, that bespoke engine, the 9-DCT, the suspension, etc.

Why would they price it that high in the beginning!???

That's a good point haha, the price tag definitely isn't for every day driver!

I think the price is alright. The problem is that the dealers got greedy and started ordering cars with tons of expensive options which jack the price to $205k. At $157k, the NSX is nice. At $205k, it seems too much. The $157k version still has the same exact hybrid hardware, suspension, bespoke engine, etc. All the options don't do anything performance wise, except for the PCCB. Even then, it can be argued that for every day driving, PCCB isn't any better than steel brakes...I suspect for the person who does some occasional track days a few times a year, a different set of brake rotors and pads would be more than enough.

I am a huge nsx fanboi

$157,000 I rather have many other cars

at $100-125k nsx is a lot more appealing and properly priced

So here's a video of my CTR in action on Monday. I apologize for the quality as this was taken with my dash cam with an out of focus lens. I did have another camera in the car but I forgot to start recording for this session. For those that are curious, the owner of this club (the one that organized this track day and he's way more capable than me) has a new stock STi and it's good for 1:20:

Thanks! Yes. the car is very quiet. On my first session, I couldn't really hear the engine with the helmet on. I got used to it in later sessions though.
