It's about DARN TIME!
In my honest opinion, Mugen does the very best job on its cars than any of the Japanese super-specialty companies. Everything they make that I have had experience with is crafted to near-perfection and designed for pure driving enthusiasts. Take their p28 ECU for b-series engines, for example: engages VTEC harder, faster @ an insane 3,800 RPM. I don't know, perhaps I am obsessed with their products and I am looking for excuses to say they're the best. They sure as heck are über-expensive. My Mugen shift knob costs $95 shipped, but unlike any other on the market, it is designed to shorten the shift by about 2 inches.

Bringing that thing stateside is a waste.

Right, because there's no way they'll sell all 500 and there'll be no hype about it at all...
I'm guessing this is just an indication of things to come.

I hope this is not an indication of things to come from Honda!!!
We don't need more ground fx kits & spoilers.....we need engine, transmission & overall handling upgrades.
This is just mostly window dressing...nothing more.

^^^ just look at the high demand for the integra type-r compared to the a-spec kits that are out.
type-r actually had performance enchancements up the wazoo compared to the standard gs-r
edit: maybe that's a bad comparison.
if mugen sold parts for the gs-r through acura dealers, they would have pushed gs-r sales even higher than they already were.

Mugen may produce performance cars, but most of their product lineup is just body kits, suspension, and exhausts. You can't really fault Honda for not including any performance upgrades...
An Si with Navi would be what? $23k. Mugen as it is, is quite pricey...taking into account how much a Mugen body kit/grill/spoiler, Mugen suspension, Mugen wheels, and a Mugen exhaust , plus the interior accesories along with the installation of said parts...under $30k should be right. It will indeed sell, with only 500 available a year, why wouldn't it - it'd be a bargain.
With that said, I too am dissapointed with this news. It's not like we need a glorified HFP package or anything...but I suppose Honda sees a need for it. At least they are paying attention to the niche group that made the Civic a cult classic among import enthusiasts...finally.

So you guys are saying that Mugen's should not be assembled and have a warranty by Honda because AMG's are assembled and have a warranty by Mercedes Benz?

The car comes equipped with a high performance suspension kit, forged aluminum wheels, aerodynamic body styling plus a cat-back sport exhaust kit.

Wonder who is really going to be interested in buying this car vs an entry level luxury/sports sedan for similiar msrp. Honda has already announced their HFP package which is high priced enough for most people, the Mugen doesn't really do much to top Hondas package. Honda should offer a factory Type R package for the Si instead of offering high priced 'name brand' body kits etc..

I wouldn't pay for the extra dollars for a mugen TSX unless it had serious performance gains.
This is one of the reasons I'm leaning towards Audi A3 or A4 for my next car. They are great stock, but still have a lot of room for modding and aren't too expensive either.
Acura's have gone down the crapper in the last 5 years in terms of modding ability IMO

How many years have people been asking for Honda/Acura to develop things that other manufacturers have. Look at Nissan, their nismo line is great, Toyota's TRD Packages sell very well.
Once again, the conservative acura will doom themselves and go for the ultra conservative approach.
I'm glad to see they finally went with a turbo motor and awd, but how many years did it take to go that far.
