HG-Motorsport: TTS quattro (based on Audi TT) News

Press release...

The flagship of the new Audi TT (8S) range carries an S suffix in its name. Powered by a highly tuned version of the 2.0 TFSI engine, it comes with a healthy 310 hp and 380 Nm of torque. With the quattro all-wheel drive system as standard, the TTS is a rapid and dynamically impressive all-rounder.

The engineers at HG-Motorsport saw the potential for further improvement and set about developing an intake and exhaust package to optimise the thermal performance of the TFSI engine.

As large quantities of cool intake air improve engine efficiency, HG-Motorsport replaced the factory airbox with a Carbon Intake housing a Pipercross "DRY" filter, and fitted their RF-Series double DIN intercooler to further reduce charge air temperature.

At the exhaust side, the HG-Motorsport engineers installed a free-flow Bull-X EGO-X stainless steel exhaust system. This features a 3.5-inch downpipe, a 200-cell HJS race grade metal catalytic converter, and two exhaust valves controlled by the innovative Bull X-Tronic module.

Already without(!) remapping the ignition, fuelling and boost curves to make full use of the greater intake airflow and lower exhaust backpressure, the dyno printout showed 336 hp and 427 Nm of torque, an improvement of 26 hp and 47 Nm.

In announcing the cars newfound power, the flap control system of the HG Motorsport exhaust gives you the option of a slightly deeper than standard exhaust note or a full-on bellow from the carbon-coated twin tailpipes.

To fill out the TT’s big round wheel arches, HG Motorsport use a set of 9.5x20-inch, three-piece Schmidt FS-Line alloy wheels, shod with 245/30R20 Hankook S1 Evo tyres.

The extra grip from these big tyres is fully exploited by the lower ride height and improved control of the KW Variant 2 coil-over suspension kit. The Variant 3, whose dampers feature adjustable bounce and rebound control, is currently in development.
