SUV Savings - - By JAMIE LAREAU | AUTOMOTIVE NEWS - - Source: Autoweek

General Motors has set sticker prices for the redesigned GMC Yukon SUV lineup that are lower than the models being replaced.

The Yukon prices continue the automaker's strategy of trying to move sticker prices of new vehicles closer to the transaction price and minimize spending on incentives.

The 2007 Yukon has a sticker base price of $34,690, including $875 for shipping. That price is $890 less than the 2006 Yukon.

The 2007 Yukon XL, a full-sized SUV similar to the Chevrolet Suburban, has a sticker price of $37,790, including shipping. That is down $840 from the 2006 model.

Both versions of the Yukon also are offered in a premium Denali trim level.

The sticker price of the 2007 Yukon Denali is $47,990, which is $2,070 less than the 2006 model. The 2007 Yukon XL Denali is priced at $50,490, $1,220 less than its predecessor. All prices including shipping.

GMC dealers are starting to get units of the 2007 Yukon. It will be followed shortly by the Yukon Denali. The Yukon XL and XL Denali will follow soon after that, GM said.

The Yukons use GM's new full-sized truck platform, known as GMT900. That platform is shared with full-sized pickups and SUVs at Chevrolet and Cadillac.

GM expects a sales boost from the Denali's arrival because nearly 40 percent of Yukon customers are Denali buyers, a GM spokeswoman says.

The redesigned Yukon has a new exterior and interior design. It comes in two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options. The Yukon Denali is all-wheel drive with some exclusive options including a 6.2-liter, all-aluminum V-8 engine with variable valve timing and a new six-speed automatic transmission.

GM launched the redesigned 2007 Cadillac Escalade SUV late last month. That vehicle is arriving in dealerships now as an awd version starting at $57,280 including shipping.

The two-wheel-drive version will not be available to dealers until August, says Ed Williamson, owner of Williamson Cadillac Co. in Miami.

Williamson says he hopes GM gets the vehicle line rate up to speed so that the SUVs will arrive faster.

He says: "They come in and they go out. It's a big hit."

Very good pricing. It should only help sell very nice full size SUVs. Good move, GM.

I dont think we'll see that on the GMT 900s any time soon. They are selling at or above MSRP right now.

Preview: 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid - - by Marty Padgett - - SOurce: The Car Connection

General Motors says its new 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid will sport the world's first two-mode hybrid propulsion system in an SUV.

The new Yukon Hybrid made its first appearance at the 2006 Los Angeles auto show , flanked by the new 2008 Saturn Vue, the hybrid Saturn Aura Green Line, and a fuel-cell Equinox prototype.

GM says the new Yukon Hybrid will boost fuel economy by 25 percent over the standard V-8 Yukon, though it shares the same V-8 engine. With the hybrid adaptation and GM's version of cylinder-deactivation technology, the Yukon Hybrid keeps the performance of the standard SUV while boosting fuel economy, GM promises

The hybrid will also be capable of towing 6000 pounds.

The hybrid technology featured in the vehicle is a version of the system being jointly developed by General Motors, DaimlerChrysler, and the BMW Group. it operates in two modes, one for low city speeds and light driving loads, with the possibility of either battery power alone powering the vehicle, engine power only, or a combination of the two. At highway speeds, another mode is engaged that uses smaller electric motors for more efficient operation.

The Yukon Hybrid goes on sale at the end of 2007.

2018 Denali

https://www.netcarshow.com/gmc/2018-yukon_denali/

GMC is elevating the 2018 Yukon Denali lineup with styling and trim enhancements, as well as a new, advanced 10-speed automatic transmission.

A new, sculpted grille design distinguishes the GMC Yukon Denali, while new Mastique Ash real wood trim adds depth and richness to the interior.

The new 10-speed transmission - paired with GMC Yukon Denali's 6.2L V-8 engine - enhances refinement with world-class shift smoothness, responsiveness and quietness.

"Yukon Denali has always matched style with substance, and the enhancements for 2018 advance that legacy," said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global GMC. "The foundational elements of exclusive design, premium touches and uncompromising capability have made Yukon Denali an icon for nearly 20 years."

Multi-Dimensional Grille Design

GMC designers evolved the iconic Denali grille with a multidimensional, sculpted interpretation that, like other contemporary GMC elements, was designed in a layered manner. It's a theme seen in other new GMC models such as the Acadia and Terrain.

"The new grille, which is flanked by HID headlamps and LED Signature Lighting, advances the design legacy established with the very first Yukon Denali in 1999," said Matt Noone, director, Global GMC Exterior Design. "It's a more exciting and sophisticated design, while remaining instantly recognizable as part of the GMC Denali family."

In addition to a more sophisticated appearance, the new grille offers greater airflow to the radiator. Active aero shutters behind the grille close in certain conditions on the highway to reduce aerodynamic drag and enhance efficiency.

10 Speeds, Refined Performance

The GMC Yukon Denali's new 10-speed automatic leverages the engineering experience of General Motors' multispeed transmissions to deliver improved performance.

A wider, 7.39 overall gear ratio spread, compared to the GMC Yukon Denali's previous eight-speed automatic, enables a lower numerical top gear ratio and contributes to greater efficiency.

The transmission's optimized gearing and proprietary controls allow the 6.2L V-8 engine to deliver a winning combination smooth operation and precise response.

Standard and available features include:
  • 420-hp 6.2L V-8 engine with direct injection and Active Fuel Management
  • StabiliTrak electronic stability control, tow/haul mode, trailer sway control, auto grade braking and hill start assist
  • Magnetic Ride Control for improved body motion control
  • Standard 20-inch wheels and available 22-inch wheels
  • Automatic locking rear differential
  • Four-wheel-disc brakes with Duralife™ brake rotors
  • Active Noise Cancellation for a quieter interior
  • 8-inch diagonal GMC Infotainment system with Navigation includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability
  • Standard 8-inch diagonal customizable driver display with head-up display
  • Multiple USB ports and accessory power outlets, including a 110-volt three-prong outlet, to support electronic devices
  • OnStar Basic Plan is standard for five years and includes access to an in-vehicle 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and select features via the myGMC mobile app
  • Wireless phone charging
  • Heated and ventilated driver and passenger seats, heated second-row seats
  • Hands-free programmable power liftgate
  • The Denali trim accounts for well more than half of all Yukon sales. It is offered in Yukon and Yukon XL models, with the XL featuring a 14-inch-longer wheelbase (20 inches longer overall), for increased third-row legroom and more than double the cargo room behind the third-row seat.

Love it, looks way better than the previous gen. I am surprised that they didn't go with a 100% digital cluster...especially for the Denali.

I don't know why, but for some reason I prefer the interior of the 2018 Yukon to the updated one. But I'm sure the newer one is better in many other ways.

The GMC Yukon helped create the Denali brand - now the 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate trim elevates the iconic sub-brand.

Distinguished with exterior and interior details, next-level materials, innovative available technologies and impressive capability, the new 2023 Yukon Denali Ultimate is the most premium Yukon ever offered.

In addition to its elevated interior and exterior design, Yukon Denali Ultimate introduces the available class-leading, trailering-capable Super Cruise driver assistance technology to Yukon, including the capability to automatically change lanes or tow while driving hands-free on compatible roads.

The 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate also brings elevated comfort and conveniences, such as 16-way power front seats with massage. Additionally, the 2023 Yukon Denali Ultimate introduces an advanced 18-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system to GMC for the first time, including head restraint-based speakers for front-row passengers. Etched metal speaker grilles provide an elegant look that fits seamlessly into the premium interior of the Yukon Denali Ultimate.

The 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate goes on sale in fall 2022 with a standard 6.2L V-8 or available Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel. Both engines are paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Capability remains important as ever with standard Magnetic Ride Control, standard Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, standard Active Response 4WD™ system with electronic limited-slip differential and Auto Track two-speed transfer case.

Crazy that 22s have become 'standard' equip, when they were the premium option on trucks/SUVs when I worked for Chevrolet in 09

Even my realtor's GLE350 (AMG Sport pkg) is riding on 21s

These Ultimates have got to be at or above $100k
