GM Offering Returns on Some Leases
GM Offering Returns on Some Leases - - Source: The Car Connection
A new pilot program from General Motors will allow lease customers in five cities to return lease cars if they're not pleased with them. The vehicles included in the new offer are the Buick LaCrosse, Pontiac G6 and Chevrolet Cobalt; the cities in which the return offer, called Freedom Lease, is valid are Atlanta, Boston, Providence, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C., as well as the state of California. Shoppers who lease any of the three new-for-2005 vehicles can return them if they have racked up less than 12,000 miles. The Detroit News also reports that the customers would forfeit their $1500 down payment if the vehicles are returned. The News reports that some individual Mercedes-Benz dealers have tried similar tactics, but GM is the first automaker to try it. GM has also brought back its Hot Button contest, in which people visiting GM showrooms can press the OnStar button in vehicles to try to win one of 1000 new vehicles. The new version of the Hot Button offer includes a $1000 rebate.
