you think auto braking and road departure mitigation is gonna prevent you from falling off a cliff???

I hope Acura lends you their newest MDX with all the tech there is... and you can try it yourself...

A class-action lawsuit asserts that the Genesis GV80 can vibrate, shudder, and veer across the road while being driven at moderate speeds.

The lawsuit has been filed by Marcus W. Corwin of Corwin Law in Boca Raton, Florida. Plaintiff Dr. Barbara Feinstein claims that she leased a GV80 in February 2021 for more than $900 a month and during a 1,100-mile road trip to her home in Florida, encountered a raft of issues.

Feinstein says that the GV80 “began to dangerously shake, shudder, vibrate, and pull to the left, causing a continuous struggle to keep the SUV from veering off the road.” She claims she was driving at approximately 40 mph (64 km/h) when the issues started and upon arriving in Florida, quickly took the GV80 to a Genesis dealership.

The dealer is said to have replaced an axle and sent the car back to Feinstein’s home in Maryland. However, she states that the SUV continued to shake at speeds beyond 45 mph (72 km/h), prompting her to take it to a local dealership that proceeded to replace the driveshaft and align the suspension. Despite these repairs, Feinstein says that the GV80 continued to pull to the left and the steering wheel and headrests continued to shudder while driving.

The lawsuit adds that “Hyundai is accused of promoting the GV80 luxury SUV despite being aware of dangerous defects affecting the vehicle’s drivability that are documented in Korean news media and current customer message boards.” It calls for Genesis to buy back or repair all affected GV80 models.

is it just 1 case? she expects Hyundai to recall all GV80 because of her 1 case?

If that is how it works, there wont be any cars left on the road...

The GV80 is in it's 1st generation, and it's first model year. Definitely a risky proposition to buy, IMO.

The cases cited by the law firm filing the class action had to do with carbon buildup in the 3.0L diesel under prolonged low RPM; Genesis fixed the issue and the diesel is not offered here.

My link was not about recalls. I already covered recalls in other threads where Hyundii/Kia dealers are wasting people time.
My link was about start of manufacturing time line for GV80. The car is already in third year of manufacturing.

^ You focus on the wierdest/dumbest things.

Who cares how long it has been in production - recalls can happen any time during the stage of a model's life-cycle (and even after it's been replaced).

BMW X5 demoslish GV80 in performance and handling despite smaller engine and much taller vehicle with offroad package. Genesis has 3.5T engine.
except for features there is no reason to buy Genesis. and that is definition of bargain brand. giving you more features and bigger engine and lesser price.

^ LMAO!

What part of this did you not get?

However, the
genesis gv80's unconventional design, soap-slick powertrain, silken ride, and stunning interior is the cocktail to beat. And so far, no one has.
.

1st Place: 2021 Genesis Gv80

Pros:
  • A stylistic standout in the segment
  • Unbelievable interior
  • Smells like the inside of a rich cattleman's outfitter
  • Powerful and buttery drivetrain

MT goes on and on about the GV80's interior...

Both SUVs are significantly nicer to interact with than to look at, but one interior blazes as bright as a battlefield flare: The 2021 genesis gv80's cabin presentation is sumptuous beyond any other SUV short of the big Range Rover and Bentley Bentayga; there are plenty of sharp SUV interiors in this range—X5 included—but most are dark, emotionally cold environments focused more on being cool than cushy.

And cushy it is. The quilted leather seats wouldn't look out of place in a smoking lounge, and the crystal-ring insert on the transmission shift knob would pair well with whatever cut glass decanter sat on the corresponding mahogany bar top. There's no mahogany to be found in the Genesis, but its wood trim panels are requisitely rich and complemented our example's saddle-colored interior palette nicely.

Contrast this to what they thought of the bargain basement interior of the MDX...First and foremost, know that the redesigned 2022 Acura MDX's interior is a big improvement from the outgoing model. That SUV's nice-for-a-Honda aesthetic and dual-screen infotainment setup were decidedly 2014. Not so for the new MDX, which takes on a distinctive, modern ambiance with more technology than any Acura before.

But that the MDX has outdone itself is no surprise—the real question is whether its cabin rivals other luxury three-row SUVs. Does it? Short answer: Even in the range-topping Advance model we drove, NO. Long answer: Read on.

For drivers who want a luxury SUV as a posh conveyance for themselves and some friends, the MDX's interior lacks panache. It's not a cabin in which to welcome guests to sprawl out or woo with indulgent features and trimmings
. Potential future inclusions like second-row captain's chairs could help change that, but until then the MDX doesn't have the, well, luxury to keep it in contention against other luxury three-row SUVs.

Heck, MT was more impressed by the interior of the Palisade Calligraphy, more of a competitor to the MDX.

The upscale Calligraphy treatment increases the cabin's wow factor more so than it does the exterior's, and it costs only a few more bucks than the $46,460 Limited, ringing in at $49,085, not including options.

Inside, graceful and minimalistic perfectly describe the Palisade Calligraphy. The beautifully designed cabin combines subtle colors, stitched leather, textured silver trim, and woodgrain to create an inviting environment that uplifts your mood. All control buttons, including the climate and infotainment controls, have a clean layout and are easy to operate while driving. Overhead, a microfiber headliner will tempt you to run your fingers across the surface. It feels marvelous.

With the GV80, Genesis went with luxury over performance; Genesis also has to take into account its powertrain lasting for 100k mi.

If the GV80 is a bargain brand because it loses out to the X5 in performance, what does that make Acura with the MDX (much less the slow TLX)?

C/D TEST RESULTS
2.5T GV80
60 mph: 6.1 sec

100 mph: 16.0 sec
Rolling start, 5–60 mph: 7.0 sec
Top gear, 30–50 mph: 3.4 sec
Top gear, 50–70 mph: 4.5 sec
1/4 mile: 14.6 sec @ 96 mph
Top speed (C/D est): 140 mph
Braking, 70–0 mph: 163 ft

3.5L V6 MDX
60 mph: 6.4 sec

100 mph: 17.6 sec
Rolling start, 5–60 mph: 6.6 sec
Top gear, 30–50 mph: 3.6 sec
Top gear, 50–70 mph: 5.2 sec
1/4 mile: 15.1 sec @ 112 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 112 mph
Braking, 70–0 mph: 170 ft

The V6 MDX loses out to the T4 GV80 in every performance metric but rolling start. Lol

Furthermore, the GV80's ATP is right in line with the RWD Germans.

GV80 ($64,634)
Mercedes-Benz GLE ($67,394)
BMW X5 ($68,635).

And its doing that without a PHEV or performance variants like the Germans have to boost their ATP.

Even with the S-Type, doubt that the ATP for the MDX will be able to match, much less beat the RX hybrid ($59,349).

And there's a good chance that Genesis will stick the 400+ hp variant of the 3.5TT in the GV80, which will lift its ATP.

Oh, for the 2021 Mudfest, the GV70 came away as the overall winner.

The runner-up and winner of the pickup segment was the Santa Cruz.

No awards for the MDX or Ridgeline.

And not a single Honda or Acura in the 20 fastest selling vehicles.

HMG has 5 and Toyota, 6.

I know you will show up. Fastest selling vehicles. another Hyundai marketing fraud.
Genesis bargain brand. thats why you get bigger engines, bigger rims, much more features, longer warranty for much less money.
Current MDX is faster than GV80 on MT tests.
https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2...t-test-review/
Put it on our test track, though, and the only metric by which it outperforms the old MDX is acceleration. A lower first gear gets the new model off the line quicker, cutting the 0-60-mph time by 0.6 second to 5.7 seconds

https://www.netcarshow.com/genesis/2...coupe_concept/

Genesis has unveiled the GV80 Coupe Concept at an exclusive event at Genesis House New York.

The four-passenger GV80 Coupe Concept adds a new facet to the Genesis brand. "It emphasizes the duality of the Genesis brand by showcasing the antagonistic character that lives within the Athletic and Elegance parameters of Genesis' design philosophy," said Luc Donckerwolke, Group Chief Creative Officer.

Inspired by the X Speedium Coupe Concept unveiled in New York last year, the GV80 Coupe Concept combines the practicality of a lifestyle-oriented SUV with the dynamism of a sports car. It is a statement of intent for more emotional, performance-oriented models and a preview of Genesis' future programs.

"At its inception, the Genesis brand began creating luxury sedans, which evolved into the G70, G80, and G90 models," said Luc Donckerwolke. "Over the past seven years, we have added more lifestyle-oriented models to the portfolio, such as our GV80 and GV70 SUVs. Now we are pushing the envelope with more emotional cars that elevate Genesis' performance and dynamic attributes."

Performance-Optimized Athletic Elegance

The Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept's front fascia sports the Double G-Matrix Patterned Crest Grille surrounded by the quad lights, which have evolved from multi-lens array technology to seamless light performance. Cooling is optimized by four slots within the bumper that reduce shadowed thermal flow.

Genesis' rear-wheel-drive platform provides the basis for the GV80 Coupe Concept's long hood and generous dash-to-axle proportions. These refined proportions are further emphasized by the anti-wedge parabolic line. It is complemented by the muscular blisters and fenders that contrast with the vehicle's elegant coupe silhouette.

The front fender wears the 'Designed by Genesis' plaque that highlights the exclusive character of Genesis models while the five-spoke forged aluminum wheels and the carbon fiber roof - which contributes to the GV80 Coupe Concept's dynamic driving qualities by lowering the center of gravity and reducing weight - emphasize the vehicle's sporty character.

To further reinforce its driving dynamics, the vehicle's optimized aerodynamic fluidity is complemented by an upper rear spoiler and spoiler lip on the elliptical concave ducktail, which provides increased downforce at speed. The seamless rear lamps complete the Two Lines signature at the rear.

The model's bold design is also emphasized by its Magma exterior color, which was inspired by the brand's Distinctly Korean ethos. While describing the color, Donckerwolke said: "The color symbolizes the self-confident and passionate attitude of Korea. There is a quiet, efficient, disciplined and humble first impression soon contrasted by a high performing and extroverted attitude."

Beauty of White Space Meets Performance

Continuing the themes of the exterior, the GV80 Coupe Concept interior is a contrast between Genesis' elegant Beauty of White Space philosophy and athletic attributes.

The three-spoke steering wheel plays an important role in emphasizing the sportiness of the Genesis GV80 Coupe Concept's interior, which contrasts black Nappa and suede leather with plaid double stitching, orange piping and carbon fiber weaves on the functional surfaces.

Four bucket seats provide increased body support during cornering, contributing to passenger safety and comfort, while the carbon fiber back rest, painted in body color, further accentuates the GV80 Coupe Concept's extroverted character. The structural stiffness of the body is reinforced with a G-Matrix strut brace behind the bucket seats.

The GV80 Coupe Concept confirms Genesis' commitment and ambitions to deliver innovative luxury products with bold, emotional resonance.

The redesigned Genesis GV80 elevates the experience for drivers and passengers alike with new enhancements throughout the exterior.

The GV80's front includes a newly designed Two-Line Crest Grille and the signature Two-Line headlamps. The Crest Grille refines the model's elegance with smoother corner lines, and the sleek design of the Two-Line headlamps, made possible with MLA (Micro Lens Array) technology, emphasizing Genesis' commitment to state-of the-art technology and design excellence.

The Genesis GV80's robust and athletic SUV persona is accentuated with design elements such as larger air intakes and a wide skid plate design on the front bumper, while the Guilloché-patterned emblem adds an elegant finishing touch to the SUV.

Along the exterior, a new chrome trim extends seamlessly through the sides, exuding a powerful presence from the front to rear bumper.

Two reinvented wheel designs contribute to GV80's solid and refined character. The 20-inch design creates a multi-spoke look by intersecting two different spokes with distinct finishings, and the 22-inch option reinterprets the Two-Line design.

At the rear, the muffler tips hidden in the bumper elevate GV80's sophistication. Key elements of the Genesis design language add to the model's image with distinctive V-shape chrome trim inspired by the iconic Crest Grille. The lower part of the bumper imparts a sense of stability with its bold body-colored line.

Elegant Interior with High-Tech Sensibility in the Beauty of White Space

The interior of the new GV80 accentuates Genesis' design ethos of Beauty of White Space while incorporating new technologies to create a sophisticated ambiance.

A 27-inch-wide OLED display integrates the multimedia screen, exemplifying the harmony in the combination of a high-tech device with details with its horizontal layout.

Seamless design extends to the center fascia, with the touch-based HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system thoughtfully offers drivers with ease of control.

The redesigned crystal-like Shift-by-Wire (SBW) ensures a comfortable grip.

Quality materials and design enhancements add to GV80's overall elegance, with elements comprising of horn covers with the new Genesis emblem and available two-tone-colored steering wheels, an improved pedal design, and a center console featuring authentic materials.

Furthermore, Genesis has accommodated consumer needs with a redesigned wireless smartphone charging tray that enables more convenient charging and provides improved visibility of the phone while it's charging, an enlarged console cup holder, and a knob-type volume/tune adjustment button.

Power and Performance

The Genesis GV80 SUV will be equipped with two powertrain options: a gasoline 2.5L I-4 turbo engine, which delivers a robust 300 horsepower, and a gasoline 3.5L twin turbo engine, which produces a maximum output of 375 horsepower.

The highly anticipated unveiling of the GV80 Coupe adds a new facet to the Genesis brand, emphasizing a fusion of practicality and sportiness.

The Genesis GV80 Coupe combines the practicality of an SUV, inheriting the design and performance of the base model, with the dynamism of a coupe. The introduction of the GV80 Coupe reaffirms Genesis' commitment to delivering cars with exceptional performance and emotional appeal.

The exterior creates a high-performance image, boasting an elegant yet daring silhouette, featuring the MLA-powered LED headlamps and double-layered Crest Grille like the redesigned GV80 SUV.

When viewed from the side, the arch-shaped Parabolic Line spanning the body and the low, sloping roofline strike a perfect harmony, completing the strong and dynamic exterior design. Adding to its sporty profile, the GV80 Coupe grabs attention with Coupe-exclusive 20- and 22-inch wheels with distinctive spokes.

At the rear, the Genesis GV80 Coupe features a unique design with LED surface-emitting rear combination lamps and a wide integrated auxiliary brake light on the tailgate. A centrally descending rear spoiler adds a sporty touch.

Coupe-specific sporty design package

The interior of the Genesis GV80 Coupe captures a sporty sensibility with a design unique to a coupe.

The two-tone D-cut steering wheel reinforces its driving dynamics and maintains an elegant interior image. Available unique carbon garnish patterns and seats with coupe-exclusive patterns and stitching further contribute to the refined design.

To minimize the risk of slipping during operation and to maximize high-performance sensibility, metal accents were added on the brake and accelerator pedals.

Power and Performance

The GV80 Coupe will offer two engine choices, including the gasoline 3.5L V6 Twin Turbo with 48V electric supercharger (e-S/C), featuring a robust 409 horsepower.
