GeigerCars: Escalade Black Edition (based on Cadillac Escalade) News

Press release...

At 5.18 meters long, weighing 2.6 metric tons and with a large-volume V8 under the hood, the Cadillac Escalade is a full-size SUV straight out of an American picture book. For the current generation of the Escalade, the US car specialists at GeigerCars.de in Munich have now put together a performance package that elevates the luxurious Platinum version of the Cadillac Escalade into an even nobler “Black Edition”.

As the name says, the striking feature of this package is that all the parts that come off the production line in chrome are turned black, which gives the already pretty powerful SUV an even more brooding appearance certain to recall the operational vehicles of the American Secret Service.

- complete black exterior
- performance enhanced to 448 HP, V Max 240 km/h
- 3,500 kg towing capacity

The large-volume V8 is a 6.2-liter direct injection engine, whose power GeigerCars helped upgrade a bit from 426 HP out of the factory up to 448 HP by installing a sports air filter and retuning the software. The V8 heaves its maximum torque of 621 Nm at 4,100 revs on the crankshaft. After unlocking the electronic V Max limitation, the GeigerCars Escalade expands its colossal performance to 240 km/h.

The “footwear” of this heavyweight was upgraded by mounting Yokohama Parada Spec-X tires, cleared for this speed, in the standard dimension of 285/45R22 on the OEM rims painted glossy black. Spacers widen the gauge by several millimeters.
Considering the tremendous kinetic energy this large-caliber projectile holds in store, it is comforting to know that there is a potent brake system behind the 22-inch wheels. This comes from Brembo and has 8-piston brake calipers and 412mm disks on the front axle, and 4-piston calipers and 380 disks on the rear.

The performance of this hefty SUV at high speeds and in curves is also enhanced by the chassis upgrade GeigerCars has given it in the form of harder stabilizers on both axles, sport-tuned springs and special steering knuckles. Towing capacity is something that is not only important to owners of horses, boats, and house or car trailers. Thanks to a special upgrade, all current generation Cadillac Escalades overhauled accordingly by GeigerCars can haul up to 3,500 kg – and that is far more than Cadillac allows the SUV when it comes off the production line.

The Platinum Cadillac Escalade can be had from GeigerCars for a base price of 92,000 euros. The “Black Edition” performance package runs to 25,900 euros* and naturally comes with a TÜV registration included.

It always bothers me when a car is blacked out but the headlights are kept the same. If you’re going to black out everything, black out the inside of the headlight housings as well. Just looks cheesey when those are left silver like that.

Mercedes does a really good job with this from the factory, even the new RDX with the A-Spec package has blacked out headlight housings to match the grille, trim, and wheels.

Rant over
