Top Ford exec compares Ford Taurus to Homer Simpson
From Leftlanenews...
What does the current Ford Taurus (formerly Ford Five Hundred) look like? Homer Simpson, according to the company's product development boss, Derrick Kuzak. The top executive made the comparison during a presentation to industry insiders on the company's plan to redesign the Taurus.
As reported last week, CEO Alan Mulally has stated the redesigned Taurus will be the "one we should have made originally." He characterized the updated car as "fabulous."
During his part of the presentation, Mr. Kuzak didn't just focus on the road ahead — he also took time to reflect on the current state of affairs. He showed a slide with Homer Simpson beside the current Ford Taurus, juxtaposed to the images of Superman and Mr. Incredible beside sketches of the redesigned model.
"As you walk from a Homer Simpson design to a Superman design, it's all about millimeters matter," Kuzak told top analysts at the meeting, according to the Associated Press.
Rather than a mere mid-cycle facelift, the new Taurus is getting a comprehensive redesign. It will feature a lower roof, tighter gaps between the wheel wells and the tires, and improved surface detailing.
The 2008 Taurus was introduced a year ago — first as the Five Hundred and then renamed — and already it will see major changes.
The new model will debut next year, Ford says.

Seems like some MMCs are turning into an opportunity to unscrew the screwups with the original design. Honda did it with the 06 Accord and now the RL and this time Ford with the Taurus. If some model doesn't sell we can see a much shorter design cycle than the current 5MYs.

the 05 Odyssey was the first year on it and sales were great for it of 07. 08 they did a minor model change. changed the grille a little, changed the hood and headlights a little. i'll admit there was more pressure on the minor model change of the Accord but it was scheduled dude.

Technically, the rear of the 06-07 Accord was totally redesigned (vs 03-05 model). By comparison, the 5G and 6G more subtler styling enhancements. (As a current 07 AV6 and former 99 Accord LX sedan owner, these changes were notable to me...albeit very slight.)

they only got 2 cars out of their brand itself Ford that excite me.
#1. GT500 Mustang
#2. Edge looks good but build quality scares me the 09 Nissan Murano 10 times better

The GT500 is a POS. 30 seconds next to one shows you how many corners Ford cut.
I completely skipped Ford/Lincoln/Mercury at the car show. The GT500KR was out front so I couldn't bypass it but I didn't bother with anything else. Such a shame.

2010 Ford Taurus spy shot
The Ford forum fan-boys over at TaurusClub apparently snagged the above shot of what they're claiming is the next-generation 2010 Ford Taurus. We can't verify that or anything else about the spy photo, but it sure looks like an attempt at merging the US design philosophy of "Hi, My Name Is Dave" with the European design philosophy of "Attractive." We don't know much else at the moment as any other details on...
...TaurusClub's site have been taken down, along with the post. But what we do know are the rumors we'd heard to expect an all new design for 2010 and we've been told other sites 'round the net have received take-down notices for the photo. So is it the new Taurus? You be the judge.

I am gonna be very critical like the way how people are of every new Hyundai cars that comes out.
I bet million dollars that if this new taurus was new hyundai car, people would start to dissect every possible angle of the car to accuse them of copying other cars...

That's because they have a lengthy track record of repeatedly doing so. What is wrong with you Hyundai fans...

and that doesn't even come close to looking like a Genesis, which isn't even original on its own to begin with. Thanks for playing.

Maybe not Genesis, However, It looks identical to Sonata. Look at the headlights, front bumbers, Fog lights, Front Vents...Everything is the same.
Thanks for playing...

Aren't we a little too far away from production to make any serious judgments on the car? It doesn't matter what else it looks like - the questions is, does it work? For now, I'd say yes.

If you want to be taken seriously, start looking up words you don't know how to spell.
The Taurus looks like it has cues from the Iosis concept.

LOL, all these people trying to deny the obvious resemblance of Hyundai Sonata. If this Taurus was hyundai, people would comment freely about how it resembles other cars. Talk about narrow-minded and biased perceptions..........

I'm a big supporter of what Hyundai is doing with the Genesis and the Gen. Coupe, hell, my dad's girlfriend has a Sonota exactly like the one you've posted and I really enjoy driving it...
Either way, this car looks good...
