Automotive News / March 24, 2005
David Leitch, a government lawyer working in the White House, has been hired as Ford Motor Co.'s general counsel.
Leitch, 44, replaces Dennis Ross, 54, who retires on June 1. Leitch starts work on April 1 and Ross will focus on tax issues until his retirement.
Ross, who joined Ford in 1995, will be a consultant to the automaker after his retirement.
Leitch has been deputy assistant to President Bush since 2003. Prior to that, he was chief counsel for the Federal Aviation Administration. Earlier, he worked as a deputy assistant attorney general in the U.S. Department of Justice.
"Dennis has been great to work with," Chairman and CEO Bill Ford said. "He has helped push us into a leadership position in this era of corporate governance."
