Felino: CB7R News

Remember the Felino CB7? There's a new road-focused version.

Back in 2014, Canada made its first foray into the world of supercars with the track-focused Felino CB7. Founded by Canadian racing driver Antoine Bessette, Felino has now unveiled a new version designed for road use called the CB7R that is "targeting an experienced clientele of sports driving enthusiasts" and aims to compete "with major international manufacturers in the high-end supercars segment" such as Ferrari and Lamborghini.

According to Felino, what sets the CBR7 apart is that it was "designed by a racing driver to bring an unprecedented driving experience and emotions to the owner."

Under the hood is a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 Corvette LS3 engine producing 525-horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 486 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm. With this setup, 0-62 mph takes just 2.9 seconds before the Felino CB7 tops out at an electronically limited 201 mph.

Alternatively, if that isn't fast enough for you, Felino is also offering a souped-up 7.0-liter V8 LS7 engine that pumps out 700-hp at 6,700 rpm, and 580 lb-ft of torque at 5,600 rpm. 0-62 mph in this version also takes 2.9 seconds but the top speed increases to 214 mph.

Providing the stopping power are 15.3-inch, six-piston calipers at the front and 14.8-inch, four-piston calipers at the back. Thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber and composite materials, the Felino CB7R has a dry weight of just 2,502 pounds, resulting in a 50:50 weight distribution. Production of the CB7R will be limited to just ten units, each costing between $360,000 and $660,000 depending of the options. That is indeed Ferrari/Lamborghini money, but is far more exclusive at the same time.

An even more hardcore cB7+ version will also available that's lighter and more powerful with advanced aerodynamics making it the "wildest of the Felino family." Felino says it will unveil the CB7+ to the public sometime in 2020.
